  1. Fri night training. From front to back @Klaiber @Vonrd @Lipfert @Snaggle @Yogi
  2. I wouldnt say our MiG-21 leaps off the runway. The profile I fly (assuming I dont screw it up) is apply back pressure at 250kph. If I am lightly loaded (A2A config) it will rotate at that speed & ill zoom along nose high with with the mains planted another 50-100yds before the tires leave the runway. From my perspective it seems smooth. If I am near MTOW I do the same tug at 250kph but it doesnt rotate until more like 280kph but then flies off the same as with A2A. I think the key is when you do your tug wait for the nose to come up & soon as it does center your stick & let it fly off. If you keep back pressure you will leap off the runway (and possibly have a tail strike).
  3. Hungarian Hind. I find the chevrons on the tail boom interesting.
  4. Interesting sidebar, for sure the MiG-23 & I believe the MiG-21 i posted pics of last week are Constant Peg veterans.
  5. Very cool story!
  6. Russian 30mm ammo.
  7. KInda disturbing but its war..
  8. Great flying last night @Klaiber, I was impressed!!
  9. I finished Devotion, great book! I then went on a helo kick & ripped through Low Level Hell. This is a phenomenal book but sadly all to short. I finished it in 2 weeks reading 30min before bed & the odd trip to the head so picked up another Vietnam era book, Chickenhawk. It does a great job of putting a face to the Huey pilots story & I enjoyed it greatly! Finally I am currently working on Easy Target I am struggling through this one. The writing while not bad, aint great but more to the point I am having difficulty connecting with this guy. His story is one I can not relate to. He was an anti war guy who volunteered to keep from getting drafted. The decisions that got him into the position of being a Scout pilot in Vietnam were ones of looking for the easy way out all while getting drunk & stoned as often as possible. He manned up & did his job but I am quite certain had I run into him when I was in the Army I would have distanced myself from him.
  10. My beloved MiG-29 wallpaper just got replaced for this one. Yet another aircraft I would love to see in DCS. In fact I would rather have this than the coming Apache!
  11. Im actually looking for a Land Rover in restorable condition. Ideally 68-72 to do a restomod on. Of course it would be a crime to do that to this one.
  12. "I" go every year with my kids. My wife has been once! She was pretty perturbed by the time I let her leave LOL
  13. I live 2hrs from the Wright Patterson AFB museum so make it a habit to go every year. Last year due to covid restrictions I didnt go. For years they have had a MiG-15 & 17, you can imagine my surprise & delight when I went today & saw they added a 19, 21, 23 & 29! (the latter they have had a few years but it was not on display as it was being restored). This was my 1st time seeing a MiG-29 in person so it kinda made my day!
  14. So following that timeline hypothetically we could be looking at up to 3mo until release... Still... I cant imagine it will be that long. Hind isnt a terribly complex aircraft when you get right down to it. Thats why I am hopeful we will see a surge in CW era aircraft. Lower complexity = shorter dev cycle & these guys got bills to pay too.
  15. I seem to recall with the Viper they were putting out these vids quite awhile before release. Still I will cross my fingers & think happy thoughts...
  16. The porn has begun...
  17. In route to the bombing range with @Klaiber
  18. I got into it briefly 25yrs ago. I got bored, did stupid stuff & crashed it allot. Ive been thinking about getting back into it on the scale side of things. I think if I pour myself into making a nice scale heli I could resist doing something stupid with it.
  19. USED to have them, it was a 9mo wait for mine & didnt really care for it. There is allot of tinkering involved in getting them working well but I have gotten to the age where I hate tinkering with settings so I sold them a cpl months ago. I have some buddies that swear by them & say if it were to break they wouldnt be able to fly without them. As in all things, to each his own & YMMV.
  20. Quest VR, Warthog stick & throttle & Point Control hand controllers. Meh, I bet most of us got them beat
  21. I see this kinda question posted every time some new high dollar piece of hardware comes along. I guess people are looking to justify spending the money or more commonly justify why they arent. If you trying to keep up with the Jones (an American colloquialism meaning trying to have all the toys everyone else has), dont! Madness lies there. You cannot buy happiness, I know, I have tried! However if you have a passion for helicopters & the disposal income to waste on a new toy its almost a no brainer.
  22. I plan on installing a collective as well just as soon as Virpil makes it available. I have been trying to think of a way to put my throttle & button box on a movable plate so I can slide it off to the left when I want to use the collective. I will come up with something.
