JG-1 "Fritz Schmenkel" - Wings 2018 (16 June 2018)
-Hawkeye- replied to Klaiber's topic in Squadron News
Cool medals! Extra special meaning here, few will be able to claim to have one. Great to see you guys getting some recognition in the squadron news section for once! It takes a better breed to be able to become proficient in multiple sims, or even just in the complex jet sims. My hearty congrats to all of you folks; at times the rest of us could get a glimpse of the hard work being done in the other areas of the squadron, even without access to those sections of the forum. JG I "Richthofen" - FIF2018 "Spring Campaign" Session B1 (9 June 2018)
-Hawkeye- replied to Klaiber's topic in Squadron News
You're an outstanding opponent as well! I have to be very careful when you and the rest of Blue team is around. You certainly did contribute to the demise of many; congrats on 4 kills last session, well done! Thanks to you and the rest of blue team for the friendly, skilled competition. S!- 7 replies

A fond farewell to a truly virtuous friend! Few names in the WWI flight sim community are as well known, and well remembered.

In for a shirt

That, and another lucky Alb one mysteriously appeared under the Christmas tree a few years ago. Later, I got a SPAD one on a Birthday; and I always have my Dawn Patrol shirt from Dayton, way back in the RB3D days. Unfortunately nobody remembers exactly where they came from, except for the one from Wright-Patt. Maybe that's why they have serious Ju-Ju

I was wearing my lucky T-shirt with the D.VII on the front

Report to the back yard. All I have on hand is a single shot .410 shotgun with bird shot, so it might hurt a little. Seriously, we love you, you know that, don't you?

In life, there are friends, and there are FRIENDS. You've always been in the latter category, in my book. If you've thought of me even half as well as I've thought of you, I'll be very happy, indeed. See beyond your current situation, having faith that things will get better, as they have for all of us here; we were once where you are now. If at the end of my life, I'm afforded the opportunity to remember the best people that I've known in my life, you sir will be on that list, without question. Gott Mit Uns! Luftritter

If you want to embed the video in your post Vonrd, just go to your video on Youtube (not the short link you used above), copy the full URL there, and just paste it directly into your message, no special code.

Hi guys, It's the end of May, so it's time for a newsletter. Since it's been a while, I figured I'd send out a mailblast, rather than updating the sidebar at VKBcontrollers.com. I know you're expecting some (if not most) of the VKB products you've been waiting for to be available in a few days, but VKB HQ told me (between the lines) that this is not the case. So without further ado, here's the news: The "expected availability: End of May, 2018" date does not hold, and needs to get pushed back (again). As a VKB sales partner, this is as frustrating for me as it is for you - believe me. Here's a note from VKB HQ earlier this morning in a forum post - and I let it speak for itself: "By the way, end of May is indeed not a valid deadline, so who was going to bet 10 bucks on the 30th, please don't. The next batch is being made and we are spending practically every day, 7 days a week, at the factories. Unexpectedly, the recent shipment to Europe that was supposed to fully cover all orders and stock up the storage for a few months, was sold out in less than a week. So the currently being made batch is going to be much larger. The size of the batch does not really affect the production time this much. What does is that those who create new models and those who spend days and weeks at the factories making sure the devices are produced to our standards of quality mostly are the same people. All delays and slow downs of present day are not because of weak production capacity (that's in the past) but due to constant improvement and strict quality control. So... it is coming. Although not on time but soon enough." With that being said, for VKB North America I will have to do the following: Push back all pre-oders for the Gladiator Upgrade Kit, and without a concrete date given, I will push it back by 1 month for now. All other products that are not pre-orders will be labeled "Expected Availability: TBD" for now, until VKB HQ gives me something to go by. I really wished I had better news at this time for all of you who are waiting - but it is what it is. Until next time, VKB Sales North America

I had the problem and I thank Butzzell for the solution. My theory is that many, if not most people already had the needed files (some version of Microsoft visual C++) because they got them through one or more other game installations. I only have RoF, so whatever version they required for the last update, is all I had. Exactly as Butzzell said, whatever was required for the game update to work, should have been included in the update.

Haha I have to admit when I saw the name of the thread, that's the only thing I thought of

I didn't expect that either, Sturtz, although you would have been welcomed. I knew you could go either way, but since HL was the flight leader, you make the correct decision. In any engagement, flights are expected to get separated at some point. Just think of that R.E.8 as a part of a very large engagement. He was passing through the general area, which is why the whole situation evolved in the first place. Technically I did the wrong thing by telling HL I was breaking off, instead of asking. Most people know I play things a little loose and go rogue now and then. However, I have little doubt HL would have had any objection anyway; we both understand one another very well and I think we both knew we could handle our situations separately....at least that was the plan. In the end I stayed alive by bravely running like smoke and oakum at the first opportunity
