Vonrd Posted June 1 Report Posted June 1 If your were hoping for a more user friendly mission editor... Will the mission editor change and what new things will appear in the map editor The mission editor will not change much at its core, because it is already considered a powerful visual tool for complex scenarios, albeit with a high entry level. From the point of view of creating complex scenarios, for example if making something like Tactical Air War, it is definitely the most convenient tool compared to competitors. The main development concerns the map editor: now you can edit the height map, rivers, roads, cities, textures, and other elements directly in the tool. This should simplify map creation and potentially attract more creators from the community. Klaiber and Butzzell 2 Quote
Flyboy Posted June 1 Report Posted June 1 Well I will take a look at it at least when it comes out. Quote
Shadepiece Posted Tuesday at 06:00 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:00 PM Apparently scripting will be possible as well! Klaiber 1 Quote

Shadepiece Posted Tuesday at 07:03 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:03 PM Yeah, I am hoping this will open a lot of possibilities for servers to do more complex things. I always liked servers where you have limited aircraft and need to think about how you use them as opposed to just furballing. Klaiber 1 Quote

I know that @Kliegmann and @Butzzell have had to make very elaborate triggers in Rise of Flight and Great Battles to make things work. Having scripts, provided that uploading them is easy, would be amazing as the complexity would definitely be able to increase. Quote

Kliegmann Posted Wednesday at 10:55 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:55 PM I decided to buy Korea...holding my nose at the $100+ price tag. I'm interested in seeing how things will pan out with the editor. Dont think things will be backwards capatable though, so probably wont be able to bring the old aircraft into it Klaiber 1 Quote

Supposedly, this is a completely new game engine so I doubt that anything BOS/ GB etc. will port over. Klaiber 1 Quote
Shadepiece Posted Thursday at 06:46 PM Report Posted Thursday at 06:46 PM Yeah, most likely starting from scratch, but with a higher possible ceiling. The 38 Parallel server is up, a neat PvE type deal. Not sure what they did to have things ready so fast, but I assume someone had access with a press account the past few weeks. Seems like things are similar enough to make it quick work if you're as familiar with the editor as you are Klieg. Quote
Flyboy Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM Report Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM Got to fly it a little today before I go off to work for 6 days. It's ok, same frustrating (though maybe a little improved?) control setup. Graphics aren't bad in VR. I was getting 45 fps with DLSS OpenXR quality setting. Better than the original IL2 but I can't say it's better than DCS. Flies ok but difficult in dogfight against an F-80 (I was in Mig-15). Seemed to tie into my AB9 force feedback but Moza doesn't have a config for it yet so it needs tuning. Overall though controls aren't the best. Basically the same setup as what IL2 does. No clickable cockpit and didn't get to mess with the command wheel much but same basic complicated wonky control setups needed for oil/water radiators, superchargers etc etc that you find in IL2 WW2 that is more difficult to manage because of no clickable cockpit. Maybe you can setup each plane, but I didn't see that option. There is a quick start setup where you can choose a quick mission and parameters similar to the old IL2 but mission editor isn't on the main menu as far as I can tell. I dread that it's too similar to the old IL2 and might have to download a mission editor etc? Anyway that is just my quick take with maybe 15-20 min flying and 30 min messing with control setup.
