Butzzell Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 S! All found this on Adler legion and had to share. Yogi, Firefly, J5_Hotlead and 6 others 9 Quote
Yogi Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 I wish my parents had been that cool (Rich probably would have helped too). I cant even live vicariously through my children; the good Lord in his infinite wisdom (and humor) blessed me with girls. Quote
Vonrd Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 Girls can't fly?! (Maybe they don't have the interest though. I've often wondered if the "sugar and spice and everything nice" is genetically inherent or induced by social training. I really wish that there were more females involved in our hobby). Etzel Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 I have also 2 girls and believe me I do my very best to influence them in the right direction. My long term plans are to fly that long actively IRL with them until they make their own licenses and take their old dad with them from time to time... In maybe 12 to 15 years I can let you know how successfull I was... The walls in the kids room are decorated with that motives Emely, Britchot, Vonrd and 2 others 5 Quote
Emely Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 Girls fly great, even better than many men. In certain stressful situations, female psychology works better than male psychology. Unfortunately, their number in aviation is limited primarily by the social structure of the world. Etzel, Klaiber, Britchot and 3 others 6 Quote
Vonrd Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 Yeah, she's damn good (and the long hair in negative Gs looks cool) Etzel and Klaiber 2 Quote
Yogi Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 Believe me I tried! I succeeded in only instilling a passing interest in it though. I would say it is inherit to an extent (young boys gravitate to cars & planes while young girls to dolls) & social training reinforces it. My own girls a very "girly girls" & my wife is to blame for it. I tried my best to turn them into Tom boys Quote
Kliegmann Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 Funny thing is, flying an airplane IS multi-tasking, which women are better at then men. Quote

I tried my best to turn them into Tom boys Well, I have to say that at least my older one (4.5 Y) is very typical girl-stuff orientated, everything is about princesses and their princes... and in doubt put pink glitter on everything On the other side she still enjoyed the flights with me, and she esp. likes when we I do some dives with her (to be clear: some very gentle ones). And I also let her try flying a little bid on the PC from time to time, e.g. some round with an Albatros in RoF (without any shooting of course, just take off, fly over a village and land again!!) so I think (or I hope) the interest for all the typical girl stuff shall not stand in opposition to feed the interest in aviation... I have the feeling that the little one seems to be in general more interested in technical stuff, but in reality she's much too young to say anything about this for now.... So finally: Yes, I also have to admit that it seems as there is really something like a gender-specific preference for gender-typical stuff inherited in many kids but esp. in our times that shall not prevent us from letting them know and show very clearly that there are all options open for all of them...
