The spin is still there and the hardest part was forcing the spin. My instincts kept breaking the stall before I entered it. A refresher for left spin recovery: idle, stick forward into the spin with opposite rudder. If you enter a full spin, engine OFF, stick forward into the spin with opposite rudder. If you had to shut the engine off once you break the spin engine on nose down to get the prop to kick the engine over. At 100% fuel I lost 2000m total doing this. 50% fuel I lost 1000m doing this. So either my technique got better or the lighter fuel helps speed the recovery up. Regardless don't stall left near the ground.

This is a good watch for someone not familiar with the overall doctrine of the Russian air force.

@Snaggle I found this interesting others may not. If you haven't seen it yet it is the ship logs of the USS Seawolf looking for the USS Thresher.

That is on the list of movies that I own and will get sucked into watching on TV. Even with commercials I will still watch it. Same with "Goodfellas," I will get sucked into the edited watered down version on TV. A movie that is on my list of movies that I have seen many times. I will watch it when it comes on, even though I own it and it may not be on most peoples list is "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" with Gary Oldman. I get caught up in it every time. Between the monologues and the use of spot lighting it feels more like a stage play than a movie at times.

I have been watching classic films lately. Recently I saw Lawrence of Arabia and the French Connection. I have not seen Midnight Cowboy yet so I may have to get around to watching that. In the meantime.

This Youtube channels shows a few tricks of the trade.

I use these 2 videos to clear cache on my computer. The first video doesn't cover graphics but I like it because he goes a bit slower than the guy in the 2nd video. The 2nd video is the one you want for clearing the graphics card cache. Time stamped for Graphics.

The fxo, metashader2 and Nvidia cache were the 1st things I cleared when this happened. I haven't seen the problem since. So it either helped or I haven't recreated the issue.

Actually I had this a couple times when 2.7 came out. But not this week end. I saw it more with the mission editor. I was testing the new clouds and when I reload it would lock up. Did some A/A refueling this weekend with the F-14 and F-16. Along with relearning the Mirage radar and weapons system with no issue. I was however using the instant action without the new clouds.

Did you pick one? I went with an Oris Big Crown Propilot. I may still get the Stowa but this will be my everyday.

@ScorchedBeans To answer both your posts. It works the same as any other controller as far as mapping. Plug it in and assign it in game as you would a joystick or throttle. As far as exporting info for gauges I can't help you with that. When I looked into it some years ago the guys in DCS where using Arduino boards or Rasberry Pi boards for those kind of applications.

To be honest the left half of the panel is the most useful for me. I did plan it this way so I could keep my hand on the stick while adjusting a cowel or radiator. The two marked GS Bright and GS Wing are for the gunsight. They have actually turned into yaw and rudder trim for IL2. With the elevator trim being on my Warthog throttle. The beauty of using the Leobodnar board with the quick connects you can always redo what you don't like. If I decide to get a house I will redo my sim pit to make it even more ergonomic.

It was a bad photo so I deleted it. Here is a new one. I didn't realize how dusty it was until I saw this. I know what I'm doing later.

If you are into DIY. This is the board I used to make my control panel. What's nice is it adds 8 more axes to use. It helps in IL2 a lot especially in VR. It also helps in DCS but do to the clickable cockpit, isn't as necessary. http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=180 They also make a version that needs solder versus plugging wires into sockets. If you are into that.

I have wondered that myself.

To better clarify Steam has all the module. The issue is you can only do one or the other or have two installs of DCS. Steam copies will not work with the Store copies and vice versa. So if you choose one you are stuck with it. I'm too far in to switch to store version. Now IL-2 on the other hand is compatible both ways. I have the Steam version of some releases and Store version of other releases. I do store version now only so I can fly the pre purchases aircraft while they are released. By the way I paid for FC2 with my credit card points so that was cool.

I have everything on Steam. All modules are available. As far as waiting it depends on the developer. One module was a few weeks I think it was the Mirage don't quote me on that. Other modules like the F-16 and F-18 I could pre purchase and download on the day of release. I think lately if there is a wait its been no more than a week.

Speaking of coincident today my parents sent me home with my grandpas pocket watch. So when I got home and saw this thread I was a bit amused.

I also prefer automatic watches I have one quartz Tag that I would strongly consider selling or trading in just because of the hassle of changing the battery.

I actually also have been thinking about the the Stowa Classic Flieger 40 A model myself. From my research the Laco is thicker. That's the only info I can give. I have also been thinking about the IWC Mk XVIII which is a nice looking Flieger if you want to spend the money. My only beef is I'm not sure if I like the bracelet. Since the nearest AD is in Chicago I would be taking a chance. It does look good on a leather strap.

I've casually played HOI 4 but never really got hooked on it. I have a bunch of hours in Stellaris though. I have debated on picking up Crusader Kings 3.
