I’ve jumped out of one of those!

Of course Klaiber would want to fly MiG-31s... "Russian MiG-31 Foxhound Shot Down Its Wingman During Disastrous Live Fire Exercise" Great detail. What if she's flying?

I switched to Nvidia a long time back (2014?) because Cliffs of Dover drew a circle around my airplane where near and far terrain was rendered on my AMD card. I simply stuck with them after that. Not a glaring review, but it’s my reasons, lol.

is it 2x8 or 4x4? if it's 2x8 you can probably get another 2 sticks of the same spec to bring it up to 32.
-
I'm not sure of your RAM count, but her current one is 32MB. That helps with DCS, a ton.

That rig would probably run a Rift S, no problem, and allow you to keep your current Oculus library. My wife’s current computer is an i7-4750k and 1070G1. This will keep you tethered to the computer, though. I am not personally sold on the value of the Quest, it just seems to be too much of a compromise for portability.

There's a great story in Gunther Rall's autobiography where he talks about testing the F-104 out of Edwards AFB. They'd fly them low with the Balkenkreuz markings and confuse everyone in southern California.

That was a great book, and touching about how those two got to know each other, later. I thoroughly enjoyed “A Nightmare’s Prayer” by Michael Franzack https://www.amazon.com/Nightmares-Prayer-Marine-Harrier-Afghanistan/dp/1451608071

Lol, any day was quite a while! ED held it for a bit, huh? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/fa-18c_operation_pontus_campaign/

There was a late-war IL-2:1946 Ghost Skies campaign, once. It was awful. The Corsairs would engage and disengage, at will. Only the Tonys stood a chance, but everything was a tinderbox.

I considered getting the Wacom tablet for that specific reason. In DCS, I'd like to take notes. However, with MSFS, it's more about the flight application I have for manned flight. You could use some other programs to get the iPad to show up in VR. It's a repeater for the iPad to computer (Squirrel 3) and another one to project the window in VR (DailyVR). I've used them before to read Chuck's Guides on my iPad while learning a new plane.
-
No, but I can try and give it a shot. I use it with my iPad for navigation (links directly over my wifi to give map position in ForeFlight), so I avoid VR.

That’s some awefully deep history, @Wufnu! Names I’ve only heard of, though @Klaiber and @Butzzellknow them. Thank you for dropping in and if you ever get the flying bug/time, we’ll be here.

Hey, again, Klink! We’re flying all of those things. Rise of Flight for some WWI events and practices, also. Check the calendars on the main website for details of when and what.
-
It isn’t a prerequisite to own Flying Circus, I just wanted to express that it is an additional WWI sim we fly. Generally, our pilots fly one or the other, depending on the night or event.
-
Good afternoon, TralerMan55. Our CO will be along with an indoctrination email. One thing, I'd like to mention, is that we're currently using both IL-2 Flying Circus and RoF for our WWI sims. Do you also have Flying Circus Volume 1?
-
Ouch. Definitely post about it.

Mine are Die Hard and A Christmas Story Happy Holidays, everyone!

Klaiber specifically means graphics driver, which is what I suggest.
-
I think it’s more of the GPU rendering high and the CPU doing low, and lagging.
