Thumbs up McDonnell, glad you took the plunge! S!

I've read descriptions of P-47 ground attack where a near miss with 500 lb bomb would flip the tank over.

Looking forward to the ones from Bloody April and FiF

That's exactly correct; I just tried it and the game worked perfectly in QMB. BTW if you want to try this, don't delete your skins folder. Just rename it temporarily by adding one character to the name of the "skins" folder. As far as the game's concerned, it's no longer there. When done, just rename the skins folder again correctly by deleting that one character. Simple.

+1 Yes, the cloning thing is most necessary when you you're moving from an old magnetic drive to an SSD. You can just move everything except Windows to your new drive, then install all future programs on your new drive.
-
I've used Samsung's drive cloning software and it worked well at that time. Might need to check things out afterwards in Windows drive management to see if you end up with unallocated space that needs to be appended to your new, bigger drive. Back then, seems like I used some kind of USB to SATA adapter cable to make it easier.

The field of view would be greater, assuming the game could support that aspect ratio. From what I've seen it seems to support whatever your native resolution is in Windows and Nvidia Control Panel. However I have noticed certain "fish-eye" effects that vary while turning your head. For instance, a plane may look a certain distance away, but as you rotate your view, it may appear to be closer or farther away, depending on which way you move.
-
What about the ones I left in your head? (While shaking with laughter, notices strange rattling sounds in own head)

Any and every world-wide organization should do that.

I used 32" TV for years also. Get what you have space for, and what is appropriate for how far away your eyes are from the screen. I went the "gaming monitor" route a while back, and even though it does have higher refresh rate performance and higher resolution than what I had, how that translates into real world visibility and quality of what I see is honestly not the improvement I had hoped for over that 32" TV. "What fits" for me is really pushing it, for a 43" TV, for me. But, since the outer frame size had decreased to almost zero, my next upgrade is going to "go back" to that, and screw the frame rates. I've come to believe that the overall size is the most important factor, bar all others.
-
Everything is bigger, so distant things are easier to see. Of course that is dependent on the type you buy. OLED would be best, but the last time I looked, nobody makes that technology in any size 43" or smaller. It is probably less necessary in those smaller sizes since smaller screens inherently look better than larger ones. QLED would be about as good as you're going to find in that size range. If you get less than 43", you probably won't even be able to find that. Standard LED will be cheaper and by far most common, and should look very good, especially if you get a decent brand like a Samsung or Sony. Max refresh rate will almost certainly be limited to 60 Hz, even though some advertise 120 or even 240....with those they use a proprietary term exclusive to their brand, and those basically just mean the it "looks like" or "seems like" higher refresh rates....but it isn't. So don't get fooled by that.

JG-1 "Fritz Schmenkel" - Red Flag Rumble (28 March 2020)

Well done, all! S! -
I'd love to do that for you, but wouldn't be able to start it until after April 8 (assuming a successful escape from Florida back home via airlines).

I'm not sure to whom you're referring; but I doubt anybody who's really interested in participating is going to suddenly show up to fly later, regardless. I do see the need to discount all of those squadrons that are on our team only on paper, but not in participation. That's nothing new, though, and is going to be addressed when re-registration happens. Regardless of how players are accounted for later, the big problem is we still need a viable, cohesive and hopefully effective new group of pilots to join our team, in order to make things more even. That's harder to come by than it may seem, especially if not to upset the balance on the blue team side.

I know J5 started a separate bombing organization within their group. I don't remember what name it was....wouldn't be Schusta 26, would it? I thought it was Schusta something-or-other.

Yes, the good thing about TM is that they'll sell you just about any part that they still support. Sometimes that part will only be available as part of a subassembly. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it to repair, as opposed to buying a whole new stick. As far as the gimbal goes, I've never done a Cougar, but with the Warthog, you don't usually need to replace any parts. It's a matter of careful disassembly, sometimes some fine sanding, and re-lubrication with the special plastic-safe grease. Once that is correctly done, the stick feels as good as, or even better than new. I have that grease on-hand, and have performed that operation.

Wow, what a nice surprise! Welcome back, Dutch!
-
I see Jake, Dutch and Osten....can guess which one is Dudley. Not sure on the J5 guys. Guessing that's Quaker Steak and Lube Looks like they should be having that event again this year. I had remembered it being 3 days long the times that I went; looks like it's only 2 days long now. Maybe we just got there a day early to set up the LAN party.

Couldn't resist posting these pics, even though they may not be the final version. SOMEBODY is getting a new SPAD: For the forward fuselage I used a hyperbolic curve and created a graphic file that I hope will be used again on his other planes, if possible. Hotlead is totally responsible for the design, other than the wheels and the wing sunray. I have to say, I'm jealous
