JG1 is proud to present:

Air Combat Multiplayer Events (ACME)!

ACME is a series of homegrown one-shot competitions that use the IL-2: Flying Circus, IL-2: Great Battles, and DCS World Open Beta simulators.

Some ACME events have the most basic rules, concentrating on fun-fly matches for the open community.

Other ACME events are flown as serious online contests using “dead-is-dead.” In those matches, each player only has one pilot per night.

Details regarding ACME events are always posted well before the event date, with clear instructions on what registered pilots and guests should expect.

Our first ACME offering is “Aces Over the Rhine,” created by JG1_Kliegmann!

Aces Over the Rhine is a fun event for IL-2: Great Battles, using the Rhineland map and a 1942 plane set.

Players will have an unlimited number of virtual lives, but aircraft are limited!

The event is mission based.  The primary mission of the allies is to destroy a target.  The hurricane squadron is meant as an escort for the bombers, attackers and recon aircraft.  The German primary mission is to defend.  The Germans have no attackers or bombers, cause that is not their mission, and they have no targets.  It was never intended, or designed to be a fighter slugfest.  Winning the mission requires the bombers attacking and destroying targets. Regarding the number of German fighters, its solely due to each Gruppen Stab and Staffel being represented.

Having said that, there are plans, based on number of allied pilots, to increase the number of allied aircraft if need be.

Hi All,

The plane-set for the Saturday, 9 July mission has been updated!

A squadron of twelve Spitfire Mk.VB has been added. And two Hurricane Mk. IIA Series 2 prototypes (basically IIC with Hispanos) has been added to the existing squadron of twelve Hurricane Mk.II's.

This does two things - adds to Allied aircraft numbers (which we were planning on doing) and gives the Allied pilots more overall flexibility.

Thanks to everyone who was able to fly ACME: Aces Over the Rhine with us today!

And a special thanks to @Kliegmann for building such a fun and enjoyable mission!

The results were an Allied victory.

RAF pilots (BLUFOR) were able to blind the German radar net, Himmelbett. And while the Luftwaffe (REDFOR ) put up a dogged defense, the RAF was able to exploit the gap and push through to damage two German industrial areas. However, these Allied successes came at a cost as German Flakkorps proved deadly for both low and high-flying RAF aircraft.

Everyone at ACME is looking forward to flying with you all again soon!
