    😭😭
In 2003, I have seen that beast a couple of times on Eindhoven airbase, when we (NATO) used it to bring cargo to Afghanistan. I worked for a cell that handed out slots, routes and altitudes to all nations and companies who were bringing in stuff. Trick with its engines was (same for it's little brother) that it couldn't spool up the engines, that had to be done while running down the runway. Especially in Goma, Zaire (DRC) it was tricky as the end of the 2.5km stretch was a steep cliff down the lake Kivu. Most of the cargo A/C brought stuff and left nearly empty.Β
The Il-76 was a racing horse compared to the An-124/225.

As a part of our ongoing Paint Pack Revision Project, a joint Flying Circus and IL-2: Great Battles paint pack has been created.
It contains 992 individual skins, and represents the combined efforts of many skilled artists within the Unit.
Please overwrite all existing skins! Β Even if you've downloaded these before!
We recommended that you hand-place all aircraft folders into their appropriate location:
    X:\ ... \1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins . . .
The following is a complete list of skins that have been added or changed:

Stuka reacted to Klaiber in JG1 - Wing Walkers 30th Anniversary
JG1 was founded in March 1992, as I understand it, about a month after the Wing Walkers.
    https://jg1.org/richthofen/history/
This means that both squadrons are turning 30 this year!
We're looking to do something special for both groups, most visibly within Flying Circus, IL-2: Great Battles, and DCS World.
We also want to reconnect with people!
If you are a former member of JG1 or the Wing Walkers or just someone from the "old days" who flew with/against us, post below and let us know you're around.Β  As more details are published about planned events, we'll make sure you're kept in the loop.
Also, if anyone has any ideas about what type of events or virtual get-togethers we could do, we'd love to hear your thoughts!

    Can't argue with that!
Development is slow in DCS because of the intricacies of the aircraft models.Β  Greater rate of return with the more complex jets especially since DCS has a near monopoly on the modern combat sim (with a couple exceptions).Β  Good news is that DCS should be around for a while so every new WW2 module will add to the list and hopefully we will have a decent theater soon.

Stuka reacted to Vonrd in GBΒ New Skins Submission Thread
Here are the Hs-129 "Duck" skins submission. I made no screenshots. This aircraft is an acquired taste and will most likely not be flown except for a few individuals.Β
This is one of the first submissions for Bombers / Attack planes (with the exception of the 110s which are, in essence, fighters carrying bombs). Since JG1 is a fighter squadron first and never flew any of these planes, we have decided that all other aircraft skins will be simplified as much as possible. This is the template as to what we are working on (and this is specific to the HS-129 but it's the general idea, other aircraft may have variations):
Standard green camo.Β  1 flavor.Β  No variations. No personal markings at all. So, no Tige, or Igantz or skeletal fish or devil or blue rudders or anything. And no colored rudders. White noses for command staff.Β  Blank noses for everyone else. Normal squadron recognition codes on the fuselage: J1+YZ All black squadron recognition code on the underside of the wings.Β Β  The roster number of the pilot (in staffel color) on the outside of the engine nacelles. Geschwadser commanders (myself and Brit) can be Blue 01 and Blue 02 Gruppe commanders could be Green 01, 02, 03, and 04. Everyone else gets their normal number and color. A low vis version of the Oesau emblem on the nose. I made skins only for those who "Might" possibly fly this plane and have more than 6 months service in JG1. There are a couple of generic squad skins. Heinrich will be doing the Europeans.
    Β
Moving into the future, I have agreed to assist Klaiber in Administration, especially in FIF but this will likely extend into all of JG1 events. I expect that this will affect my skin production. Additionally, I have interest in making more DCS skins as well as doing other artistic endeavors involving Photoshop as well as 3D graphics. Just saying that skin production might be affected. I'm not abandoning it though... it's something that I really enjoy.
For those newly accepted into JG1, please remind me when you have attained 6 months of active service in JG1 and I will be happy to start working on your personal skins.
