  1. MUCH better... Thanks!
  2. I keep getting a corrupted download (and the DL keeps getting interrupted and says "Check Internet Connection" but my connection is good and fast). Can you post to a cloud server?
  3. Blue Paw Print makes some well done 3D graphics. I do question some of the historical "facts" but still think they are generally well done. Here's the latest on the King Tiger:
  4. I'll be driving in to Dayton from Columbus and should arrive before Noon. Hopefully we can do the AF Museum on Thurs instead of Wed. I've reserved a studio apt. in downtown Dayton. My flight leaves Columbus @5:30 AM Sunday so I'll be leaving Dayton VERY early Sun. morning.
  5. Baeumer just added Wolff to JGr2 registrations. Assigned Red.
  6. By request, Strigon has been assigned Blue as IRFC_Strigon.
  7. Team assignments as of June 6 for Mission 3 This reflects the latest information available on projected attendance. Pilots who have been noted as not being able to participate in any remaining events have been marked as such on this spreadsheet. Just a quick warning. Team registrations will stop a half-hour before flight time. If you're not assigned by that point, you'll have to catch the action next week. Talk to @JG1_Kliegmann regarding access. We're currently expecting a full server tomorrow for Mission #3 of FIF. Team Commanders should prepare to waitlist any pilots or gunners who go over the server limit. Since FIF is dead-is-dead, slots will eventually open. If you have a decided preference for which side or which people you wish to fly with, please be sure to indicate that preference when you register. I will do my best to accommodate that preference. Otherwise I am mostly focused on achieving team balance.
  8. Wed (Jun 18) – Air Force Museum Tour (free except for iMax) Thu (Jun 19) – Wright Brothers bicycle shop and museum (free). If there is time afterwards we can go to Carillon Historical Park ($14) which is excellent and well worth going Would you guys be willing to swap these dates? I'll be in Cowlumbus visiting my college roommate and not sure that I'll be able to get to Dayton until later Wednesday. The AF Museum is much more important for me to visit. Did you choose the Holiday Inn or the Hampton?
  9. For the skins JG1_MiG-21Bis_Green Luftwaffe BORT, JG1_MiG-21Bis_Silver Luftwaffe BORT and JG1_MiG-21Bis_Tan Luftwaffe BORT it's confusing how to get your BORT number to display correctly (the last two numerals of your assigned number). I had to make a workaround of the hardcoded DCS bort system in order to make it work at all. Attached is a graphic depiction which is much easier than trying to explain it verbally. The "Not visible" can be any numeral. I generally use 0. So for my 441 Bort to be displayed as 41, I type in 104.
  10. A completely different rendition of Chuck E. It's like she's doing a cover but it's her own song.
  11. Yikes! I always wondered how bad a golf course off-field landing would be. m2-res_1252p.mp4
  12. I'm going to assume that VonFronk will also be attending and have put him on the register.
  13. Luftwaffe F-4F-56-MC, 37+92, S/N:72-1202, C/N:4581 of JG74 at Neuburg, June 1983 in a trial "wave" camouflage pattern consisting of RAL 7012 Basaltgrau, RAL 6012 Gelboliv, RAL 9005 Tiefschwarz and a blend of RAL 7035 + 7001 (20%) Hellgrau. This aircraft was nicknamed "Maikäfer" which translates to "cockchafer" or "May beetle" in English. Hex codes for colors: RAL 7012 Basaltgrau - 525658 RAL 6012 Gelboliv - 38342c RAL 9005 Tiefschwarz - 0e0e10 RAL 7035 + 7001 (20%) Hellgrau - a7aaa9 Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3344525/

  15. Someone asked last night if torpedo bombing was a thing in WWI. On 12 August 1915, a Royal Naval Air Service Short 184 floatplane torpedo bomber sank a Turkish merchantman in the Sea of Marmara. It was operating from HMS Ben-my-Chree, a seaplane carrier converted from a ferry. Fitted with an aircraft hangar, Ben-my-Chree was used to carry up to six biplanes with their wings folded back to reduce carrying space. This was the first ship sunk by air-launched torpedo. Five days later, another ship supplying Turkish forces in the Gallipoli campaign against British, Australian and New Zealand troops was also sunk. Production of the Short 184 continued until after the Armistice of 11 November 1918, with a total of 936 built by several manufacturers. It served in eight navies, including the Imperial Japanese Navy, which built them under licence.[7]
  16. Vonrd Vonrd JG1 Pacific Your certainty of attending: Dry Run Test (Saturday, 17 May 2025) Yes Week A1 (Saturday, 24 May 2025) Yes Week A2 (Saturday, 31 May 2025) Yes Week A3 (Saturday, 7 June 2025) Yes Week A4 (Saturday, 14 June 2025) Yes
  17. If you see a "Like" reaction by me to your registration post it means that I have put you into my master spread sheet which will be used to balance the teams as well as I can. Regarding this: Your certainty of attending: Dry Run Test (Saturday, 17 May 2025) Yes / No / Uncertain Week A1 (Saturday, 24 May 2025) Yes / No / Uncertain Week A2 (Saturday, 31 May 2025) Yes / No / Uncertain Week A3 (Saturday, 7 June 2025) Yes / No / Uncertain Week A4 (Saturday, 14 June 2025) Yes / No / Uncertain For group registrations such as @JGr2-J5_Baeumer's I will have to assume that all registered will be attending ALL sessions. If there will be significant absences it would behoove your team to note the pilots / dates missed if possible. EDIT: Individuals who wish to be teamed with a particular friend or squad please note that preference in your registration.
  18. Map is very nice but has no RSBN capability for RSBN or ARK in the MiG-21. M3 needs to submit a file to DCS in order for it to work. Who knows how long that will take. There are RSBN stations and they work in the L-39. Not sure about FC aircraft.
  19. Everything except the black and white photos are glass. I minored in photography. As far back as I remember I was an aviation nut building models both plastic / static and flying. First free flight / control line then RC. My first RC was rudder only with rubber band powered escapement... super Old School. I was also always drawing / painting airplane art and eventually moved to surf art and landscapes. By college undergraduate I had focused on art and discovered glassblowing. I focused on glass art through graduate school and right after grad school got a job as Studio Manager at the Rhode Island School of Design, one of the premier art institutions in the USA. I was finally making a fair amount of money, enough to fulfill my dream of flying. Got my PPL and by that point began to get disillusioned with Academia and Art in general. It seemed to me that to be successful, you had to kowtow to rich patrons and gallery owners. I got the idea that if I became an aircraft mechanic I could buy an aircraft and save lots of money by doing all my own maintenance. I went cross country to attend A&P school in Oakland and was also working at California College of Arts and Crafts as Studio Manager. Well, A&P school cost a lot and when I graduated there was very little demand for mechanics. So I continued the Studio Manager gig while working part time doing dope and fabric restorations. Pay was fair but not enough to buy a plane. After settling in the Bay Area working in GA there was never enough spare bucks so I never did buy a plane. Now that I'm retired, I dabbling again in glass and still hoping to find a "barn find" fixer upper plane.

  21. While websurfing I decided to take a look at the Ohio State University archives and came across my MFA Thesis from 1985. Unfortunately it was a pretty poor quality PDF especially because I didn't use archival materials when assembling it. Pretty sure that I used spray adhesive to mount the photos because there was lots of adhesive bleed which discolored the paper. I've spent the last week or so Photoshopping the images to somewhat bring them back to how I remember them to have been. The text is somewhat embarrassing as to it's quality and you can probably tell from the images subject matter that I wasn't in the best emotional shape at the time. But I do have really good memories from that time and miss all of the friends that I had. Having to re-build almost all of the studio equipment made me somewhat resentful at the time but it lead to my future careers as Studio Manager at both RISD and CCAC. I'm attaching the photos here. To see the thesis and all of the photos go to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/ss69zyeg5roda02wuwsop/ADLV7_aFnFbbt7STkSm0prY?rlkey=hxsz88iw8nxc583xjpsxj4sye&st=vn7m4mhp&dl=0
