Trouble: Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803
Vonrd replied to -Hawkeye-'s topic in Technical Support
Good Lord! So sorry Luft. That has got to be maddening. If I was savvy enough to dump Mal-o-Soft for Linux I would seriously consider it. (Would our games work on it I wonder?). -
I just tried setting "Home" to center TIR in my TIR settings (I normally have it mapped to my pinkie switch on joystick) and it worked fine for me. I do have a Saitek X55 but I don't think that would have anything to do with keyboard commands. Also, my pinkie switch is set to center in the TIR main screen settings. Is that where you're setting it up? EDIT:... never mind. I just reread your OP. Puzzling problem.

Just an FYI... ROF skins work in FC. Just copy them over from your ROF skin file to the IL2BOS skin file. They are darker though due to the darken overlay used in ROF not required in BOS. They can be lightened up in PS or GIMP then resaved. I'll check on it later.

Not sure what the unify log-in is that you're referring to. Is that a Steam thing? I don't have it from Steam. I was just testing it on Quick Mission.
-
It should as it's basically BOS and BOS support's VR.
-
Got them both and they're... "okay". Tanks definitely need more development (the Tiger is fun with it's massive armor... nearly indestructible and the slow speed of turret traverse - historically correct - makes it a challenge to hit moving targets but when the 88 hits... ). The lack of response curves in FC is disappointing... maybe they will import in the future... but I doubt it. The DR1 seems a bit tamer but I just did one flight.

That's a quality kit! A bit pricey though: https://www.artesanialatina.net/en/heritage-collection/57262-wooden-model-fokker-dr-i-red-baron-airplane.html Equates to about $300 US

Are you not flying BOS at all?

Original link edited. Can someone let me know if it works?

Looks like the link is bad. I'll check it when I get home tonight.

I've compiled a zip file of the complete library of JG1 skins (mine and Hess'... I didn't include Baron's due to the swastika thing... I wouldn't want to alter his skins without permission) and Wing Walkers. I didn't include WW Russian skins. Be aware that some of Hess' skins are 4K and should have the 4K Bumpmap installed to fully appreciate them though you will still see them without it. (The bumpmaps are in his download link). This is a very large file... 9 Gig. I think we need to think about paring it down some. Maybe eliminate those pilots not actively flying. I have a back-up of all files if we ever need to put them back in. Additionally, I have only used 2K skins (I resized the 4K templates to 2K). The 4Ks are awesome in screenshots and really close-up in videos but in everyday use, you won't notice any difference. I suggest we only use 2K format. I'm not sure if there is going to be a server issue with all these skins... Kleigmann? Wing Walkers? That being said, here's the link to the zip: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbuvr1dh2ec5mqg/skins.zip?dl=0 Once again unzip to C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics (or wherever you have the game installed) and let it overwright if it asks. Alternatively, just unzip into a temp folder and copy them over. EDIT: As of 11:00 PM Pacific time it's showing 3 hours to go for it to be available from my Dropbox.

I'm pleased to announce that I've completed all Axis Powers skins for II./JG1, Stab and Staffels 4 and 6. I included the MC 202 with German markings / camo... (kinda / sorta historic ) since they're an option on many servers (and are actually pretty capable). Here's a link to a zip for my skins. Just unzip to C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics (or wherever you have the game installed) and let it overwright if it asks. All my skins begin with A_ so they should be on the top of the list. It will not overwright any existing skins that I'm aware of except, of course, any of mine that have been previously installed. Do let it overwright those as I've done a few tweaks on previous skins. Alternatively, just unzip into a temp folder and copy them over. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8bmmu4umpoh06f/skins.zip?dl=0 Everyone who is actively flying BOx on line should install these, Hess's skins and Wing Walkers skins.

Hope springs eternal. It does look really good.

There is one HUGE factor that now needs to occur, if the planes are going to fly just like they do in RoF: they better have a response curve utility incorporated into the sim that's equal to, or better than what RoF already has, which is adjustable for EVERY INDIVIDUAL PLANE, just like it is now. If they go to some lame thing like they have in BoX which is one size fits all, it's going to make it IMPOSSIBLE to proficiently fly many of the planes, thereby making them useless, nobody will use them, everybody will gravitate toward the "easy to fly" planes like the Albatros series. Almost EVERY PLANE in RoF does not fly level at neutral stick, and that makes a huge difference in how they maneuver and how controllable they are in combat. That one parameter alone is IMPOSSIBLE to adjust in BoX, and not nearly as necessary because the planes have trim adjustments, something almost every plane in RoF lacks. There are only 2 ways to overcome the FMs in RoF, and by extension, FC: 1) you compensate for them using the response curve feature, or 2) you by an expensive, long shaft joystick and expensive, wide-stance pedals to naturally desensitize the controls through the entire range, like guys like 1PL_Sahaj has been doing since day 1. In short, you'd have to recreate the controls they had in WWI on these planes. How many people do you think are going to pour that kind of money and physical setup effort into a duplicate of RoF, if it's unnecessary in RoF itself? Very good point!

I'll be getting it 'cause I'm a Junkie (God, grant me the serenity...) I do also want to support them and, so far they're the only ones doing a WW1 sim (WOFF doesn't count for me since there's no multiplayer / online and it's also based on an ancient game engine). I don't begrudge them making money from their ventures, I seriously doubt there is a large profit margin. I think they are all passionate about WW1 and WWII historical sims and actually do put a lot of research into what they are trying to simulate. BOx has seen continual and steady improvements since release. As to the FMs, maybe they will work on them in the distant future but I don't see them spending any time on it until their WWII stuff is fully realized. Especially after the drubbing they got by all the trolls on their last attempt to adjust the FMs. If I was on the receiving end of such vitriol, I would certainly tell all to take a flying #$%& (which is basically what they did) and move on. (But, on the other hand they are using contractors so, maybe...)

And here's a link to the rest of the skins for JG1 (North American). These are by Hess: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AJ8stYPNxKyzMXg&id=10522A4BAAA6ACAA%2113191&cid=10522A4BAAA6ACAA

Even though I came in late, had a blast! Thanks to all JG1 and WW participants. Hope this turns into a regular thing! Thanks for taking the lead Gen.

Posted this morning: "From coconut's discord site: Game servers and campaign system have been installed and are up. Stats are not up yet. I'll probably need to restart the server due to windows updates, so consider today as a test day. Feel free to join, but there's a risk your flight will be interrupted by a server restart. Moscow map."
