Ths Spirit of St. Louis is an authentic repro based on the aircraft owned by the Smithsonian. Original engine design. The Spad is authentic with the exception of a Lycoming engine. SoSL go around.mp4 Bristol.mp4 Spad 7.mp4

I'm very curious to hear from those who upgraded from the Reverb G2. Did the Crystal Lite improve definition? I'm particularly interested in whether or not it reduced anti-aliasing shimmer and pixel chatter.
-
So after you run Steam first you can ditch that and just use OpenXR/PimaxXR ? I see 'Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR' as well as 'OpenXr for WMR' and 'OpenXR Tools for WMR' in add/remove programs. Is that what you have to remove?

I'm looking at upgrading my aging Reverb and evaluating the Crystal Lite. Can anyone summarize the steps to get it running on IL2 if you currently run a Reverb with WMR and OpenXR?

Looks like I stumbled upon the problem. While switching windows in pursuit of a solution I happened to notice a small message in the top banner of the WMR Portal window that said something to the effect of "WMR Portal is not set up to use OpenXR composite" There was a "Learn More" and "Fix it" buttons next to the message. "Learn More" didn't get a response, but when I hit "Fix it" the banner disappeared and now WMR handshakes with IL2 to launch IL2 in VR. Not sure how I missed that setup component.
-
Yeah, its strange since I had no problem setting it up on my old machine. I use a shortcut to the launcher, but not directly to the il2 exe. VR is enabled in the launcher.

I've followed the instructions here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/79847-step-by-step-instructions-for-openxr-and-necksafer-for-wmr-sets/ (except for the part about launching IL2 from Steam) OpenComposite shows OpenXR selected, but when I run WMR and then IL2 (vr enabled), IL2 simply launches in full screen mode, no vr. I don't recall having this problem on my old machine (both W10). I've placed the 64b openvr_api in the /bin/game folder as instructed) With WMR running and openxr selected in OpenComposite, IL2 simply opens in a standard screen view, and the headset still shows the WMR cliff house. I've tried re-doing the entire openxr process, but no change. I can get VR to work with SteamVR (also selected in OpComp)

The AC is a C-46 which was acquired from the Marines after sitting at Pensacola for years. Pending restoration. This particular aircraft actually flew supply missions over the "hump' to China in WWII. I never realized a ball gunner in a B17 did not have a down-the-barrel sighting mechanism Exhaust flame suppressor used on C-47s carrying paratroops and gliders to destinations in France in the wee hours of 6/6/44

Thanks. The limited comms idea was interesting. I fired flares on two occasions. I wondered if anyone saw them.

I'm available for a DFW seat. 2pm EDT start, right?

With my back problems continuing I haven't flown much lately, but since these kind of campaigns are why I got into FC I might tough it out for Bloody April. From the poll on the J5 website however it doesn't appear JG1 is participating.......

I think so. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/1999/march/06/faa-restricts-t-34-ops-after-wing-failure

There was an outfit called Sky Warriors about 20 years ago that flew T-34s which I thought would be very cool. As I recall, before I could get to Atlanta to do it, a tragic accident shut them down.

What is QMB? You see buildings and bridges just flying on the map, do you mean you don't see them in the mission builder?

Check out the new city near Warloy-Baillon. Bombed out 'Albert'. Looks pretty good. Towns in general look better. Rivers have seen alot of change too. DVa does seem more robust.

Did they make those VR-able?

Impressions from 1st Black September Mission
Jaus replied to Etzel's topic in JG1 Videos & Screen Caps
I'm still curious to know what the special message about Cappy meant at the beginning of the mission. When we attacked I expected resistance, but there was none. -
Ah, the tab. Thanks
