  1. Lots of good racing last night, really hope the ballast system continues to close people up in the Formula Ford, as well
  2. That seems to track with Logitech stuff - I've been using my G25 Sim racing wheel/Shifter/Pedal set for about 3-5000 hours of driving time over the last 10 years and other than some of the button switches no longer working, it has no issues. Maybe I'll go with them if I can't afford a more premium option.
  3. Alright, lots of really good helpful stuff being said here. I'm learning a ton and it seems that the flight sim gear is a lot like the race sim Gear - in that if you know you'll use it a long time, most people recommend skipping the budget/entry-level option phase right to the lower end of the more premium stuff. I have some options to ruminate on and I've also been discussing what gear Snaggle has (his Race and flight sim rigs are impressive to say the least) so I think I've got a pretty good overview of what's available and what people recommend. We'll see what money and time constraints are like after I start job searching for Dispatch jobs and start paid ground school; if I have spare money after moving and/or selling things to move maybe I'll treat myself to some simulator equipment.
  4. The T-Rudder series and the Logi were consistently the top two on the "Entry level rudder pedal" review articles. They do seem extremely enticing! I'm just not quite sure because they don't seem as popular as the logi's or other mainstream brand platforms
  5. I didn't mean what I said in a pointed way at all: only to say I saw it being discussed and personally decided I would stray away from using it. I do understand it's a topic up for some morally gray debate, though.
  6. I went and watched some reviews and this seems to mirror that sentiment - basically "Buy the logitech and use them until you feel like upgrading" Because everything else in the entry level bracket is too uncomfortable, or too much to justify for a slight quality increase over the Logis.
  7. Right on - so I guess the next step is the saving and choice. What do you guys think is good? I notice the Logitech and Saitek are the same design - anybody have experience with the Thrustmaster entry-level option? T-master: https://www.amazon.com/ThrustMaster-2960764-Thrustmaster-TFRP-Rudder/dp/B015PII6YI/ref=sr_1_1?crid=4Z2LBKFB9791&dchild=1&keywords=Thrustmaster+rudder+Pedals&qid=1635120628&sprefix=thrustmaster%20rudder%20pedals%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-1 Logi: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Pro-Flight-Rudder-Pedals/dp/B07R21FJD8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3N26PHRCY15OU&dchild=1&keywords=Logitech+rudder+pedals&qid=1635120667&sprefix=logitech+rudder+pedal%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-1 From what I can tell, the logitech look like they're a bit farther apart spacing wise - that might be more comfortable on long flights - and the adjustment for pressure is great, I use that on my Saitek throttle all the time so I'd imagine having an easy adjuster for that on the Pedals would also be a boon.
  8. Oh that is HARDCORE - hahahahahaah. I will have to see if we have any simulators at school I can borrow which have pedals, Snaggle and Markov both also highly recommended pedals when I DM'd them on Discord about it so I think that may be the next upgrade I save for.
  9. Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong section/could be placed somewhere more appropriate; When flying my first Tourney sortie yesterday I realized that WWI Aircraft can be a bit awkward to fly using a twist rudder due to having a lot of down-pressure on the stick in level flight and then having to twist your wrist as you point it away from yourself, any thoughts on this from other pilots who have/had twist rudder setups such as the X-52 I'm currently using or Similar? I'm just looking for what may be a bit more comfortable while flying and wanted to see if anybody else had similar experiences or recommendations for a cheap "Step up" from the twist rudder if proper pedals are actually more comfortable to fly with. In VR, it's also a bit rough to find my controls, so freeing up two of the switches on my Stick quadrant that have brakes mapped to them with Toe brakes might be a boon as well. Thanks in advance, I always appreciate hearing the squadron's thoughts on things like this.
  10. I saw the initial discussion about that - you posted in the FIF Discord - and thought it was a really interesting question. I ruminated on it for a bit and came up with a personal conclusion that may not be specifically addressed/is a gray area in the rules. 1.) We're trying to "Simulate" an actual combat - Entente pilots bailing was a death sentence IRL. 2.) There will be 4 missions, two of which the enemy team will also have to deal with the same issue. 3.) I am personally against chute-killing both in real life and in the simulator, so it won't "Be even" if we take it into our own hands that way, like I've seen some suggest on the FiF comments on Discord. Personally I'm at the point where I can accept dying assuming the other team accepts us using the chute when we swap to the Central Powers side. We'll have to see how it plays out but the way the rules are worded I believe leaving to save the pilot would be a punishable exploitation of an in-game mechanic.
  11. I'm guessing so. Similar pricing to when Stalingrad Early access first came out many years ago now.
  12. Great basis. I'd say that my Personal branding marks are a bit too modern looking on a period aircraft, but the Right wing number and the Fuselage roundel can for sure stay! If we could make the primary color for the fuselage a primer gray or white (from the approved colors I think there's a white-ish-gray) instead of the Mustard/drab that would work really well. For details I would maybe add some checkering pattern on the leading edge of the stabilizer, red to the wing spars and a splash of the red on the lower wing TE or LE, - maybe in a scalloped or Arrow head repeating pattern if the tempate isn't crummy and that isn't too difficult - and a red or black back-strap on the top fuselage and empennage terminating before the stabilizer and that's pretty close to what I had imagined. Really quick gross nasty gimp edit for reference: Was great flying with you guys again tonight. I needed the rest. Thanks so much for being welcoming as always, excited to have a distinctive skin and attend my first tourney, even if in a limited role.
  13. Bit of a weird request - but I don't have any skins for FC yet and I'm finally able to come back to flying after real life flight school so is there any chance I could get a simplistic skin based on my Helmet/Racing car color scheme I've been running since I was young? We can probably mute the colors out and that wouldn't work too bad for camo if there are Grays/Reds/Black tones available. Could even just be a simple Black top wing, red bottom wing (or mid-wing for tri-planes) and gray/black fuselage with a roundel. on the empennage Car 1: Bandolero Car 2: 2012-2014 Legends car paint Brand Logo, vector files for helmet design and Roundel included in files. 14. Huh. No FC2? A bit disappointed . . . hopefully it'll go on the Christmas sale.
  15. JG1_TedsOnMeds JG1 US Central Time Note: Have FC Vol. 1 but not FC Vol. 2
  16. . . How did the Empennage not fall off?
  17. Right out of University, lost my first good job, got an awful one, lost that one, now going to flight school. MASSIVE explosion in the amount of contract sim racing and race coaching work now slowly dying off again as things slowly open. Only been about 1.5 years, two in March or April, I believe? What a wild time. I'm glad everybody in the squadron is still here and able to be safe and healthy for the most part.
  18. Lip you give me Rig envy, I want you to know.
  19. I swear it happens every time I'm almost out of money (To be fair I'm 23 so I'm always out of money) or have something important coming up - this time my fee for the DADE for my Oral and practical test. Grrrrrrrrrr
  20. Other than the little Brew-ha-ha on the start in Rd.10, I think this race weekend had some of the best, closest racing for a lot of the drivers so far. Surprising considering MoSports difficulty, but not unwelcomed! Thanks again for hosting, Gordon, I'm trying to get everybody I can in on these races because these easier to drive skippies has been great and the next series with the Porsches will be fantastic, IMO!
  21. I just want a summer sale soon before I am forced to do something *drastic* and buy full price.
