Klaiber should be along shortly with recruitment details but allow me to welcome you to our site. I do look forward to working with you, sir. I have found that online flying is quite an exhilarating change from SP with teamwork against variables that no AI can fully reproduce.

ARMA 3 is, in my personal opinion, the most realistic ground force simulator out there. My military history includes time in the Airborne Infantry and Long Range Surveillance in addition to what I work with now. The helicopter flight model is also highly realistic. The makers also put out Take on Helicopters and they used a lot of that game's flight model in ARMA. Of course, there is a simple flight model but I bet you won't be satisfied with that one. if you have TrackIR or equivalent, it will ruin you for all other FPS games, freely looking where you want while keeping the weapon forward is amazing. It is a little tricky to learn but once you do, you'll curse games like Skyrim, Red Orchestra, Call of Duty, etc. for not having it. The single player storyline does have vulgar language, no more than any military movie out there but be warned. I haven't finished the storyline but I don't recall any torture. Rest all your other concerns, they aren't in this game. Well, there are some multiplayer modes where you can be a "gangsta" and cultivate drugs and smuggle on the island, however you can also be a cop. Multiplayer games are fun but keep in mind, there are plenty of trolls that may go off on a rant. Use the search in this forum and the private general forum and you will find some chatter amongst us who play ARMA.

Hindsight Combat Evaluations in ROF
Britchot replied to J5_Hotlead's topic in JG1 Videos & Screen Caps
Nah mate, if you can read it you're more than welcome to reply to it. That also goes for new topics, you're more than welcome to be part of the community. -
I plan on it when I return... in 2 months :/

III. Gruppe is still flying 1946 HSFX, where would be a good forum for that announcement? SAS's forum?
-
Awesome, can't wait to get in there and mix it up as a fireteam. Putting up a TS channel is a pretty simple request.

I can only think of these two that would reach the remainder of our WWII exposure. Storm of War's Open Squadron Forums. Ghost Skies' General Discussion.

What is your current OS? And other related questions!

Klai, did you ever upgrade? Gotta get those commo programs running -
Absolutely extraordinary list of accomplishments! All my tests are done in the safety of a box.

Yeah, iControl is the bomb for flying the Warthog! Best thing I got for getting though the CDU and weather corrections for dumb bombs. See what I did there?

I saw that speed record before, simply amazing what one can do with the wind over a slope. I like that one, too! Soaring is my ultimate escape time. I'm looking forward to getting home and getting in the cockpit again.

Nicely done Hess! That B-29 was a great show but the X-1 stole it for me!

might as well just climb in it and go!

I have this exact set up from Roger Dodger Aviation, slightly modified to fit my computer desk as I didn't need the throttle stand. There is no need for added stability as it is supposed to strap to your chair with the two vertical posts with velcro and your feet on the rudder pedals. This gives you a push/pull sort of balance. I have my chair on a rug so I don't strap to the vertical points and the far end by the pedals is up against something else (wall, maybe?) to limit movement. I have left mine where I can rotate the center stick down towards the pedals to store it (though I hardly ever take it down). I wound up tying the vertical stick support to the underlying crossbar when it's set up since there was some play without gluing/screwing the connections in place. With my cord, there is very little movement Cost? Probably $40 from Home Depot, but I bought a pair of PVC cutters. This wasn't too much more but it makes a clean, fast cut. You can cut PVC with a hacksaw, though (or 550 cord gut ) Putting it together took a couple of hours because of a dry run then taking it back a part and gluing/screwing it down. I painted mine a primer gray because white doesn't fit my decor.

Happy Valentines Day from the Military Aviation Museum!
Britchot replied to Lee's topic in Public Discussion
Quite a beaut! -
You can't. The only thing you can do is come clean about how it will make you happy and will last a long time! Maybe showing her the love scene in Top Gun and telling her that you'll get her inverted, might help.

I love my Warthog for the quality and heavy feel but fully understand the marital discussions made to obtain one. I luckily got mine as an open box at a large electronics outlet (about 1.5 hour drive away) for something like $100 off. If it wasn't for that little pitch point, I would probably still be trying to keep my X52 alive. That said, I don't have any experience with the CH products but others here do. I'll let them chip in some experience.

This guy made a bunch of videos using the game engine. A lot of it is just raw code so certainly things don't move as they are supposed to and he can manipulate the characters and lighting a bit more. Anyway, he showcased the Cutlass Red, this is what I've been envisioning, except with an escort or two!
-
Nice, thanks for the write-up. I'm sure a lot of it is getting used to using the left hand. This is definitely in my watch list, thanks for the great find Somnus!
-
Nice, I'm looking forward to some flying experience when you get the chance. Things like precision and scrolling speed/distance. I think I would have put the hook on the pad, myself. That leaves the soft for flat surfaces if you take the pad off. I'm prejudiced, though, that's how my radar detector is mounted

So I watched "The Martian" the other day then promptly dropped an extra bit on the Cutlass Red this last week. It's pretty much a space ambulance and I'm planning on doing CSAR related tasks with it, maybe have some Hornets fly escort, that sort of thing. Space-PJs! They've released an in browser ARK Starmap which is a 3D map of the initial universe. I spent a bit of time planning jumps around the universe. Travel is going to be pretty interesting, I'm looking forward to flying connections to other players, missions, and slipping through hostile areas like anti-terrorism practices train (vary your routes!). The game is still a ways off but I'm excited again, anyway. Still just sitting back, though.

That actually looks like a great idea for the off-hand. Definitely follow up and let us know. I'd love to be able to maneuver the mouse with my left or right hand depending on the situation, much like using left or right in a cockpit. However, that remote control option just brought up Trev's commonly recited theory on how all things are related to/developed from pr0n.

I just saw a TM Warthog in The Martian

I believe it's a Sea Harrier FA2.
