  1. I played Flight Leader by Avalon Hill when I was a kid and it's pretty much the same concept. I like that there are a ton of different difficulty levels so the replay value will be decent.
  2. The best $10 I've spent on a set of games since X-wing vs. Tie Fighter! Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (WWI free to try) $4.99 for all the campaigns after the first free trial. Sid Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies (WWII Pacific) $4.99 It's similar to the board games but on your phone or tablet.
  3. Sweet! if only I had more time in the day!
  4. Man, couldn't have happened in a better place. I don't envy the feeling he had when he looked back to see the second guy "slumped over." A very smooth approach and landing under stress.
  5. I'm sure Klai will give some better answers but from my experience I'll try to answer all your questions. Hopefully my answers are not outdated. As to who I am, I'm in the RoF group but due to family commitments I focus on WWII and Cold War more. If I had the time I would fly every night but I'm married with kids in fact, I've been all but gone for the last 2 months due to track and field. 1). Just show you're alive and get here when you can. Practices are Monday, Wednesday and some people get together on Saturdays but that's not official. 2). Yes, overall a tournament oriented squadron but mostly a bunch of gamers who love flight sims the most. a. Not a requirement but they're a lot of fun, IMO. Our awards are based from these results. b. Most of them tend to be on Wednesday, like Flanders in Flames, right around the practice time. There are other tournaments that the host may have on Saturdays, it's up to them. c. Generally once a week when they are active. d. Certainly, just because you miss one or many doesn't mean you have to sit out the whole campaign. e. The training leading up to a tournament normally entails some fundamental wingman ship and flying against each other so we can debrief our actions and get better. It normal ends up on a public server like any other night after awhile. If able, it will focus on the upcoming mission and what we will expect to do. It's not required but it is certainly encouraged if you can attend. 3). Initial evaluations are normally 1-2 nights and whenever you're available, just give a heads up to Klaiber and schedule it. Since you've already flown with the guys, this probably will be pretty short, you're a known entity already. I hope this helps.
  6. Awesome, I really need to get some free time soon. Dull boy and all.
  7. Haha, very nice! What was the conclusion of the flight?
  8. http://il2sturmovik.com/store/ 50% off May 4th through the 11th on Steam and through the 12th on their website. Can't gripe about that sort of deal, to be honest.
  9. These fixes aren't listed in the Open Beta. This makes me suspicious that it will be in the World 2 release.
  10. "Two weeks, be sure."
  11. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=142734 World 2 is... close? haha. L-39 is in early alpha and has a short video. Some cool screen shots.
  12. haha, man that is horrible music. Beautiful planes, though.
  13. Voted!
  14. You're getting some mileage with that one today.
  15. One can only hope.
  16. MiG-15s for everyone!
  17. It was good to work with you tonight, FAC. I'm sorry I had to leave a bit early, life happened. I'm glad you were able to work through some of the things and I hope to fly with you soon.
  18. April 8th, the Marksman DLC drops. It gives us bipods and resting (which our modded server already uses with the tab key) and a few more weapons on the vanilla servers. However, this also improves AI, which will now take cover and communicate our location between themselves. I'm excited. http://arma3.com/news/marksmen-dlc-developer-diary-weapons-platform-features#.VRyDw9uCOK0
  19. Too bad it's only up for one day. Nice to see a high profile sense of humor.
  20. Haha, the pedals he's using in the trailer are Saitek Pro Flight Combat pedals! Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing it but it will probably be on DVD. I'm hoping that they don't do a ton of stick and rudder inputs just to make it look flashy. The guys flying that far away only use the autopilot.
  21. I saw Harmony Gold sold it to Sony for a live action film. After SOE butchered Star Wars Galaxies I have my reservations against anything with the Sony name. If someone ever made a flight sim based on Macross, something between DCS while in fighter mode and ARMA in Gerwalk and Battroid... I believe I've said it here before... You'll know where to find me!
  22. Just posting these links so I don't lose them. A guide for manual bombing in ArmA jets. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24728 Ranger Handbook 2011 http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/rtb/content/PDF/2011%20RHB%20Final%20Revised%2002-11-2011.pdf FM7-8 http://www.umass.edu/armyrotc/Training/FM_7_8.pdf
  23. I found some more information regarding the JSRS sound mod (and every sound mod, for that matter). It seems there have been changes in ArmA that cause performance hits when using these mods. I didn't find they provided anything over the stock ArmA sounds, anyway.
  24. Star Wars pilots from the original trilogy drawn like Macross?!? My favorite animated short, EVER!
