  1. Lol, what's the technique for doing that? Just fly straight?
  2. Thanks! More coming soon! Ok to continue posting here?
  3. Yup, the damage causing ability and range of those guns as they are and what they should be is the major argument, for sure. Just for interest sake, what was the ping on those MP servers?
  4. @Vonrd/Klaiber/other: Was wondering if the above had been accomplished, and if so, what the exact file name is now, so I can make sure mine is 100% correct. Currently I have: A_FDr1_JG1_Luftritter.dds In addition, could my new Alb D.Va skin also be added to the main JG1 Consolidated Download file? Luftritter Alb D.Va skin It also needs to be renamed after download in order to comply with JG1 convention. In my own game I have named it: A_AlbD5_JG1_Luftritter.dds Let me know if that's OK or I need to change it, so that we're all on the same page. Thanks!
  5. Really awesome work, thanks a million! What's that superb beast below in the last pic? As if I didn't know
  6. So .30 cal (single?) for most.... would have guessed as much. Great rate of fire, though! .50 cal in the belly, that would hurt; but must be for attacking ground targets, in that position. Sounds like it would be fun to gun in
  7. Your awards are well-won, gents! S!!!
  8. 0:23 "Oh, Pen1s" I think there must be something wrong with me In all seriousness, from the video it appears that the gunners are able to shoot from angles that they can't possibly be able to point their guns to. And, even if you disregard that, ask yourself this: even at extreme angle shooting, those gunners can't possibly be putting their faces behind the gun sight. That is, at best, they're "shooting from the hip". So achieving that kind of accuracy at even angles that are in fact possible, is so improbable that it defies all odds of getting hits. So at this point it's necessary to go into the whole MMP problem. What you SEE is not at all times what is actually HAPPENING. YOU may see the gunner hit you at a certain point; but the GAME may have decided that you were hit quite a way before that; so the way it plays out in video review (or your real-time MMP view) is not nearly what is going on as far as the game + server is concerned. Throw all that out the window and there is still a lot that's suspect, obviously. What exactly is the caliber of the SINGLE gun that the gunner is firing at you? Is it EVER realistic that it could FLAME a metal plane that quickly, which is otherwise capable of standing up to quite a bit of damage from multi-very-large-caliber-gun damage from other aircraft, so easily? I mean, it is always possible that a partially or almost fully empty tank full of fumes can explode, and I will not pretend to know exactly when rubber, self sealing tanks came into existence; but since the Japanese were famous for not having them in their zeros in WWII, one has to assume others did have something better. As Kliegmann said "it only effects MP", and that is not surprising and is honestly a recurring theme in these sims. In RoF, obviously made FAR in advance of this game, there's a huge gap between how game sounds work in MP and SP. In SP, you get at least enough sounds to know when you're taking fire or being hit. In MP, you most often get nothing at all and breakup can come as a complete surprise, having received no warning. Just an example that may show that MP will always have noticeable problems that can never be totally overcome, or at least not without serious re-write of the game kernel itself. I don't know about you guys, but I look at them as two separate games: the MP game and the SP game. There are similarities, but even the FM's and DM"s do not act exactly the same, and you have to get a handle on that in order to compete successfully online. That aspect comes without even thinking to veterans, for sure; they just take it for granted and don't even think about it. Possibly the best MP pilots never even fly SP and never even notice or think about it. From an outsider's point of view, that has to rank as an extremely grave problem that needs to be fixed.
  9. Couldn't resist some Alb D.Va previews (J10 theme). Larner and I call it the "sine wave". We went through SO many iterations; and all of them look really cool but we had to choose that which seemed to be the best overall. It would take a book almost to post all the pics, but here's what we ended up with: .dds to follow shortly....
  10. Is that a dorsal fin, or are you just happy to see me?
  11. Subject sounds like it might be interesting, though!
  12. He is.... you two are cut from the same cloth. He seems to be somewhat of a paint junkie, and lives vicariously through me to some degree to get his fix for the colorful German skins. He whips out 3 options and uploads them for me to see, in the time it takes to verbally describe something. So long as he's not too busy and still enjoying this, I'll gladly be the benefactor At some point I'm sure I'll be calling back at your door. You are both masters at bringing ideas to life! Thanks!
  13. A request: JG1 FC skins download file be updated with the following file to replace the former FC Dr.1 file that I had: Updated Luftritter Dr.1 skin The "zzz" prefix will need to be deleted from the file name. This is an update to my original Dr.1 skin, in color hue only. I'll also have a different Dr.1 skin later that will comply with Jasta 10 color traditions; and also an Albatros D.Va skin. Of course if you'd like the most recent Dr.1 skin for me directly, please download the above file and rename the file by deleting the "zzz" prefix before replacing the file that you might already have for me. S, and Thanks!
  14. Who knew....I just searched images until I found one that I felt embodied the "air knight" name. I did lengthen the sword, though. The Poles must have a corner on the market for that stuff. You might also recognize that my forum avatar is a crop from a Polish WWII recruitment or propaganda poster. A pilot from 1PL noticed that once and asked if I had Polish heritage, but again it was just the "air knight" thing. In truth the maternal side of my family is from Germany and the name is Ritter, so I incorporated that into my pilot name.
  15. "While you were away" I asked Larner to re-do the red on my Dr.1 skin: However, now that I am in J10 I'm not sure what the future of this skin will be. Still trying to decide what the best thing to do is. I do love it the way it is right now, though! Thanks again for all of the hard work you put into it! In some form or another, most of it will survive intact, I think!
  16. Got 'em, thanks!!!
  17. Question, what does it take to turn those J10/11/4/6 templates into .dds files that can be used in game, as is? They're very nice default skins and I think it would be cool to have them available, even without any changes or customizations. Apologies for the ignorance!
  18. Wow, really? How does life lead you into an opportunity like that? VERY few could claim the same. Perhaps you worked at the NTC near 29 Palms or Fort Irwin?
  19. WWI navigation: "I'm south of the horse shoe shaped lake" "I'm over the blind ghost heading east" etc. This is why I fly WWI
  20. Looks like a Blue Shark to me You could make him blue on top and he'd be the spittin' image. Might even be good high altitude camo!
  21. Anybody flying FC prior to Thursday (07/11)? I won't be home then through Sunday, hoping to get in some time with you before then. Looked for J6 last Sunday in FC, no dice. Lots of people flying WWII though.
  22. Yeah, I just have an office chair without wheels. Not too big of a selection of those, but they do make them. It's not adjustable nor is it super comfortable if you want to fly for hours on end. But it doesn't move a millimeter and that's what's most important to me.
  23. I am looking forward to a review you may write about those Virpil pedals after you receive and try them out! It took me a while to get my MFG pedals tweaked to the way I like them. I actually moved the foot pads to their most inboard position, and replaced the stock spring with a lighter one. Although the foot pads are as close together as they can be, they are still farther apart than most other pedals and still have very accurate control. I don't know if that eliminated any chance of foot slippage or not, but I don't experience that problem. I even fly wearing moccasins (no soles) . Also my pedals are screwed down to my chair mat. Maybe that helps too? As for the brakes, of course they're adjustable, but I can't remember if it's the pedal angle, or spring tension, or both. Although I've not had a problem using the pedal brakes, the truth is that I really don't seem to need to use them. Once I bound analog lever on the stick to the proper function in BoX, I seem to be able to use it for every plane that I've flown. This was confusing to me at first because I thought it would only work in certain planes like the Spitfire that had a "differential" braking system; but it works for everything, as far as I know. I find it far more controllable.... you can apply tiny amounts of pressure very accurately and of course use the rudder to vary the differential. So, the foot brakes don't concern me much anymore.
  24. Great job, and thanks to you and all of the pilots who rack up the high scores for Red Team. S!
