Hello...it's your cataracts, folks . Everybody has some level of them except children. Ask somebody who's had them removed, and they'll tell you what white looks like again. They tint everything yellow... Doc says mine aren't even very bad, but I need a lot more bright light to read, and I don't even feel the need for sunglasses on sunny days much. And then there's the monitor thing too

First look at the Arras Map for Flying Circus!

FiF will need to evolve....perhaps already is. There are so many things that are done in RoF FiF just because of mission limitations or server restrictions. We should look at what CAN be done in order to decide best what SHOULD be done. Since 2-seaters are down the road, maybe an early version could involve trench strafing, which any plane can do; and since the server may be able to handle more, perhaps air-to-air victories could become a part of the scoring again; or possibly in a more general sense, achieving air superiority in an area. Only the mission builder Gods can tell us. -

Hmmm, he died in the same way McCudden did.... trying to turn back to the field after a failed engine on take-off. -
Damned sporting of you to have shown us that video, =VS=emely! No attacker really knows the condition of his victim. Amazing, from what you were seeing, for you to have been able to respond at all. Still, we must give credit to the one who did the initial damage (Talbot) ! But for him, you would not have been caught in such a disadvantageous position, no? And it should be considered that you were but one of 5 attackers to him, 1 of those shot down, and 3 others damaged....the very last one got him.... Our best salute to you sir, for being one of our most dangerous opponents. We look forward to more of your videos in the future! S!!

Maybe you can try turning post effects back on, and then just uncheck super sampling, when you get time to test some more. But only change one thing at a time, if you're sure everything is working properly now. You want to be sure exactly what the cause is. -
Well done guys, your skills are much appreciated!

The thing is when it comes to high voltage, you can't really put it in the ground because there's a limit to what even the best insulation can stand. Those high voltage lines are uninsulated, because the air itself is the insulation. The more space you have between them and how far they are above the ground, the more isolated they are. Of course they have to hang from the tower....that's what those ceramic discs are for which are stacked together. You can get an idea of how high the voltage being carried on the line is, just by seeing how many of those disks are ganged together. In the U.S., we have so much more land area to serve that there's a lot of long distances that require high voltage runs; and we have to distribute that also from many substations, and even though the voltage it stepped down somewhat, it's still high voltage and is carried on lesser lines on smaller towers and wooden poles. On those poles, the power lines are always the highest lines on the pole....telephone and coax cable are lower down. When the power supply lines step down to standard voltage, it does go underground many times here too, especially in residential and business areas. But they often don't go to that expense and it depends on how dense the structures that need electricity are in any area. Also another concern is that we have far more land area that is in cold, winter climates. In those places, underground repair becomes very impractical due to the ground being frozen in winter months. Underground cables can fail just because the insulation breaks down over time, so they need to be repairable.

I ran out of what I had, and it didn't even touch it. Letting the dog in the front door after he went pee-pee, I noticed he was really slow jumping up onto the porch step and thought "what's wrong old boy, you sore?" Then I realized he was just afraid his back legs were going to slip when he jumped....

I think any problems with full screen mode that once occurred, at the time were solved by running the RoF executable in "Administrator" mode. I don't even know if it still occurs. I remember it began to happen after some Windows update quite a while back. Edit: I checked back and found the old thread dealing with the inability to run in full screen mode correctly HERE If you skip to the end, you will see that BH_Dutch posted the correct solution that returned operation to normal in full screen mode. The solution was to run the program in "Compatibility Mode" for Windows 7. I just checked, and mine is still set to run that way. Since RoF was created way before Windows 10, it certainly wouldn't hurt to set it to run that way. Who knows, it might even solve your problem? The program file that you want to set to run in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode is located at: ....Rise of Flight > bin_game > release > ROF.exe If you don't know how to set it that way, let me know. -

Any reason why you don't run full screen mode? If you haven't already, try disabling "Post Effects". This is only for testing purposes. Suspect here is "Super Sampling" especially; it can be a real killer to some systems. If disabling Post Effects cures the problem, you could later try to enable them again, but disable the Super Sampling part, and see if it still works. All I can say is that this is how I run the game. My system is more powerful than yours, both CPU, GPU, and probably memory too. Most people do run Post Effects, but I'm not sure if they use the Super Sampling part of that all of the time. They maybe have more powerful systems than yours, too. In any case, it might be worth a try to disable the Post Effects just for testing purposes....it's easy to turn back on later if it doesn't make any difference. -
Somebody's trolling, lol. We're also supposed to get even more ice today, and what really pisses me off is that it's going to weld it in place by dropping to 8 deg. F tonight and staying below freezing for the foreseeable future. AND the winds are going to increase to around 35 mph. The roads will be relatively OK because Michigan has outstanding road crews. But a better recipe for disaster for the power and overhead lines you could not have, and driveways/sidewalks will be screwed for a long time. All we need now is a bunch of snow to fall on top of it all to seal our misery. This is very unusual for Michigan! Normally winter is winter here; it stays cold, and regular old snow is far easier to deal with.

Last night we got 1 - 2 inches of sleet / ice. Thought it might be soft enough to shovel this morning....ha ha, dream on....can't touch it. No problems with power here, luckily.

Could you post your RoF video settings, Etzel? Also, could you browse to your ....Rise of Flight > data > Multiplayer > Dogfight folder, and delete everything that's inside the "Dogfight" folder? This won't hurt anything because the missions are downloaded when you enter any Multiplayer server. It will prevent you from running the FiF mission yourself, like I asked you to try earlier. You'll just need to enter the JG1 FiF Practice server again, and it will get those files for you again. After that, you'll be able to run the mission yourself again. Then try again to see if it will crash. Good luck! -
Yeah but, people have been using them before this....is there something in their maps that's not in mine, or does it work somehow with the standard "aircraft" controls map?
-
It seems I have everything that can be had, except Tank Crew. One question I have about that....if you get it, do new controls appear in the Key Mapping part of the settings, that are specifically for Tank Crew, or do you just control it with the controls that are listed there now (without Tank Crew). It seems like it would need some special controls to work those tanks, unless everything is somehow automatic. Like how the heck do you drive the thing, if all you have is joystick for directional control....?
-
Because of stick ID change? I haven't actually tried anything yet....but I did start up the game and went into the settings > key mapping for a different reason. I didn't get that usual message that says it found new devices and asks if you want to transfer the functions assigned to the "old" devices to the "new" ones....so I assumed all was normal.
-
Just another guess, but have you tried reloading the firmware? Some have said it can get wiped.... Firmware Load Read the whole thing 'cause it tells you to do some things that do not follow the screen prompts....also the throttle seems to have it's own section, so maybe you could skip the stick part. Not sure how old that document is, there might be something newer so check around.

If is isn't under warranty, might as well disassemble it and have a look inside, if you're the kind of person who can do that without damaging anything. Here's a link to a thread in which there are a lot of good pictures of the inside: Warthog Throttle disassembly His problem was not the same as yours. All you can do is look for obvious problems like disconnected or broken wires....probably the most likely place would be at the spots where components move. This guy seemed to imply the mainboards inside the unit going bad was a "known problem". He also mentioned the price from TM incl. shipping was around "48 Euros" at that time. Your problem could be completely different. The pictures also show a lot of plastic screw hole threads that broke on disassembly. All you can do is be careful when unscrewing, but if they over-tightened them during assembly, not much you can do about that except repair them afterwards. I'm sure you know at least a few guys in our unit have the TM Warthog Throttle or the entire HOTAS. I know Pfeil and Loopy have it, probably more. I doubt they've had troubles, but maybe they've heard things from others.
