Yes, best to go with clean install Win10... trying to clone your old machine onto all new hardware is going to cause a big mess. However if for some reason you absolutely had to, Win10 has a feature called "reset this computer" which basically causes the entire operating system to reinstall from scratch, so all the proper hardware drivers would install. If you picked the correct options on the reset, it will save all your old software. I used that method when I moved my old SSD with Win10 and software to a new machine. More later, GTG now...

Oops... forgot about last night! I coulda, shoulda been there! Gotta shake off the old-timers disease and remember next week!

I think I have old timer's disease. You guys must have told me 3 times at least you were going to Assevillers, and I was like, you're not going to Foucacourt? Duh! And I told Moxy the radiator cheater gauge is on the far LEFT. Pffft! Wasn't even drinking either!

Whoa! No time to hit the dirt, there!

Looking forward to it!

Typical no visual indication, no damage sounds instant death from AI gunner. That's my biggest complaint about RoF. You can't tell me you wouldn't KNOW you're getting hit, especially that severely. In a computer sim, where you lack so many indications that you would have in RL, you need SOMETHING to indicate something is happening to you, even if that thing isn't exactly how RL would be. And the AI gunners: they're either missing you by a mile, or if you get into the wrong place, blowing you to pieces in one burst. Totally inconsistent. The flak is at least as bad. Can't tell me they can't make it so that it doesn't fire when a friendly plane is in the vicinity....like it would act in RL. And the first shot, one shot instant death, again with no warning it's firing, is again stupid and frustrating. It makes it so that the only choices you have are either no flak, or crazy effective flak; neither is realistic. My last streamed sortie in the Dr.1 in an empty server attacking the balloon was a perfect example of what I'm talking about. One shot, first shot, blown to pieces. End of story. The last thing is that it sure looked like you were hitting him HARD with your twin guns; yet there seemed to be no detrimental effect on him. It's like sometimes the MMP game doesn't register hits for some reason....or at least most of them. Seems to happen to me a lot. Frustrating when it does. Great streak though, very good job. I think in RoF the game ends up killing you in some unrealistic or unfair way, just like it did with Barton. In a sense, there's a lot of good luck involved in staying alive, and it has not a lot to do with your own actions in many cases. S! -

More absolutely amazing 2-seater simultaneous pilot/gunner skills! Your skills at that are stunning!! S! -
For those who might not remember, it was a paraphrase from the movie "Major League", in which big hitter Pedro Cerrano's pre-game ritual involved sacrifices to his voodoo deity Jobu. Near the end of the movie, his team mates have become willing to try anything in order to help with a championship game, and all they can come up at the last minute with is Kentucky Fried Chicken. 😊

Nice! I might have to get me one of those!

What's that in front of the throttle bracket? PS, your scotch needs a refill 😉
-
Considering how the last 2 ended...geez. I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible to avoid bad luck for that long! Maybe this time we should sacrifice a real chicken. ðŸ˜

Looking forward to the continuation of the series! Great videos!!

That's surprising to hear! I can't imagine flying without them. Of course there are certain planes, your Albs, D.VIIs, SPADs, etc., that are pretty tame by themselves; but others like the Dr.1 in particular fight every move you make. The need for response curves is born of 2 problems in a computer flight sim: one is the fact that our game controller is spring centered, while the stick in the real plane is not. The second, and main reason, is that our game controller is far shorter than the stick in the real plane, making it far more sensitive than the real plane would have been. Add to that the lack of feedback that is felt on the controls in the real plane, that force acting against the stick that is generated by the wind pushing against the control surfaces which varies with speed, all combine to make things more difficult than they should be. Response curves are simply a means to recover some of the correct behavior of the real aircraft. It could be argued that not using them actually creates a situation that is less realistic.

That is cool, Trev! Nice find! -
Here's a video demonstrating how to adjust one aspect of an N28's response curve, and the effect it has on the aircraft's flight characteristics, as shown in a quick mission fight against 2 Alb D.Vas. The Albs were set on "veteran" skill level, carrying 60% fuel, full ammo load. My N28's fuel load accidentally defaulted to 100% because of how the mission started. Hopefully somebody will learn something from this, or have questions to ask. If people are interested, I can make another video that demonstrates response curve adjustments more completely; but for now, enjoy!

Great news for me, HL informed me that on the second server, according to server stats, I did make it back to neutral territory while trying to survive the flak hit that took half of all three of my right side wings off. Pretty proud to have controlled it Barton-esque style, maintaining my life and streak. Thanks for winging up once again, Hotlead! S!! -
Me too....but I only wanted to put effort into one WWII sim, out of two that I see as being very similar. My personal feeling is that DCS will never become universal or widespread enough to support the existing community, due to it's payment scheme, and other limitations that would need to be overcome. I guess having one single leader isn't going to happen, so I'm going to have to suck it up and pay double, and although the money isn't the main concern, it will be disappointing if one of them becomes unpopular very soon.

Kinda reminds me of the old RB3D Full Metal Jacket mod landscape, and the Hell's Angels super patch, which I always loved. In that game, it was basically just art work, but it sure looked good. This is the kind of thing that makes me think JG1 is more interested in CLoD for the future.

In RoF, our "hard deck" ends up being.....well....the hard deck Seriously though, RoF is kind of unique, with it's clearly established lines. Soft and hard decks are a must, if over the mud or enemy side! Not so much when on defense on the friendly side, IMHO -

A lot of fun flying with HL, Dudley and hearing from Moxy! I haven't flown at all in a long time, and I was very rusty, and it showed in my gunnery and spotting skills. Later, when HL had to leave, and Dudley had already taken a 2-seater, I lone wolfed it in my N28 for one flight that ended in my death. I met up with J5_Klugermann in a Pfalz D.XIIf at high altitude. Those 2 planes are well matched at height and their climbing abilities are both excellent. After climbing up to him unobserved and getting slightly above him at well over 3 Km high, he dove down toward what I assume was another contact and I thought I might have a good bounce as I positioned to pass over him. However he was not to be surprised, and I made some gun passes that may have landed some hits and eventually produced streaming on his part. He had good performance and I fell off in a left turn, and from then on he was just out of reach above me, scissoring, and I performed pull up shots as he tried to get an angle on me for his guns, which I avoided up until the end. While both clawing for altitude, I got almost to his level. He turned hard toward me and I turned into him, holding my altitude, anticipating getting my guns on him after his pass. However he forced his shot hard and we collided. I got credit for a shoot down, but went into a death spiral with damaged wings and oiled engine, although it was still running. Having a long time to think about it, I tried everything to recover, and by increasing throttle I got the rotation to stop but just couldn't get my nose back up, and the extra stress broke my wings completely and sealed my fate. He got credit for shooting me down then, and since I did not see a message for his death, I can only assume he survived the collision. Thinking back, the smart thing to do would have been to dive out after I had him streaming. I was thinking he had radiator damage, but he never did seem to lose engine performance, and so it must have been fuel, and since I kept him tied up for so long I doubt he would have made it back home. An N28 can dive almost straight down it if done properly, and a D.XII cannot without breaking up. Lesson (re)learned. Thanks again all, S! -
There's a lesson to be learned from those. In both of those cases the enemy pilots were outstanding, and they attempted to fly their fast 2-seaters as scouts. If they had initiated a tail chase, there's a strong possibility in both cases they might have escaped. Of course nobody knows the entire situation when they pick their course of action... like I was very low on fuel in the D.VIII and could not have afforded to chase any further. And can a Breguet outrun a standard D.VII? Maybe. In any case, hindsight is 20/20. One thing I do know for sure is that if you had been the 2-seater pilot and did your thing in the back seat the way you do, I definitely would have sustained damage and would have had to break off to survive.
