Razwald Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 I was in kindergarten at best when the original line up of the Misfits where around. I didn't appreciate punk music until I was in High School. I was a freshman, into Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots etc. I sat next to this senior in Spanish class. He was a punk kid purple mohawk chain with pad lock etc. He didn't bash Nirvana but it was more of hey kid this is where it came from. He introduced me to punk music. Blag Flag, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols The Damned, The Misfits (my personal favorite). Quote

Karl Spackler Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 And now for something completely different. My wife told me about this today. http://radiooooo.com/ Pick a country and a timeframe, and away you go. You can then screw around with the mood: Slow, Fast and/or Weird. Wanting to dive immediately into the bizarre, I selected Fast / Weird, and East Germany during the 1970s. And got this jem: Enjoy! Swanky. Envelope filter/horn section badassery. Guy Ritchie & Quentin Tarantino are no doubt aware of this LOL. Quote
Klaiber Posted September 18, 2017 Author Report Posted September 18, 2017 Yeah, I actually really like it. Grabbed an MP3 copy of it and have been torturing my wife with it. Quote

Klaiber Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Always Amy: And a new band out of Toronto, July Talk: S! Back to Black is the song that I always associate with Amy Winehouse. It's easily my favorite from her. Such a talent. July Talk is great. Beck + Call is very cool song. I've never heard them before. Vonrd 1 Quote
Lipfert Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 And then Hanna Reid, an amazing talent and easy to look at: S! Vonrd and Klaiber 2 Quote

Klaiber Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 Those are awesome choices Vonrd! Superfreak by Scaggs and Hornsby is awesome. And I would have never thought that Haim would be a fan of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Honestly, Peter Green is one of my all time favorites, so it's great to see him get some love. Quote

Klaiber Posted October 5, 2017 Author Report Posted October 5, 2017 One of my favorite all time artists, Mike Oldfield. These are during his pop phase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zzaZxOrpjc Five Miles Out (the second song) may be of interest to you guys, as it's about a near tragic airplane flight that Oldfield was a passenger on, in which an inexperienced pilot flew a small craft directly into a violent storm. Here is a link to the lyrics, as they're hard to make out in the song: https://tubular.net/lyrics/FiveMilesOut.shtml#4 Lipfert 1 Quote
