Klaiber Posted September 23, 2016 Author Report Posted September 23, 2016 Moving out is a great song. Billy Joel I've always really liked Allentown, The Downeaster Alexa and of course Goodnight Saigon too. Speaking of Goodnight Saigon, and going off on a tangent, another song about the horrors of war that I've always really liked is Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms: The part that always gets me right in the feels is the second verse. I won't copy the lyrics here, as I think to read them lessens the impact slightly. It's best to feel it in the song. J5_Hotlead 1 Quote

Sometimes I guess you don't need to be heavy on instrumentation to get your point across. They did it very well, and the movie was great too. Quote
Karl Spackler Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 Mark Knopfler's tone and technique on BIA is to die for. The golden touch. Quote

Klaiber Posted September 25, 2016 Author Report Posted September 25, 2016 That's pretty good. I've never heard of them before, but I like it. Quote
Karl Spackler Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Their song "Heathens" is on the Suicide Squad soundtrack and getting absolutely worn out on SiriusXM's Alt Nation. I've heard it a hundred times and it's still pretty good. Quote

J5_Hotlead Posted December 24, 2016 Report Posted December 24, 2016 I've been listening to David Crowder*Band's Christmas album lately. I really like these 2. This one's a roller coaster of a ride! This one's my favorite on the album. I love how it starts really, really simple and then just builds. ...in case you haven't guessed, I'm a HUGE David Crowder*Band fan! Merry Christmas guys! Klaiber Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 I thought I'd revive this thread. Here are some things I'm currently listening to: Quote
Klaiber Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 I'm also listening to a lot of Chuck Berry (RIP) and Free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH5wbYP5xkQ Quote

Klaiber Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 Very cool! I like some death metal, specifically the music and the arrangements. But have a hard time with the cookie monster vocals. Amon Amarth are actually coming to my city in a few weeks. I had considered going, just to see them. But I don't really know any of their songs. And as I said, it's not my thing usually. I'm more into stoner and doom and some drone. I was actually just telling Trev and Brit about Om, for example: Quote

They are Awesome. I'd say if you have a chance to go, then go. If they're coming through the US again, I hope they pass through Wisconsin, cause I'll defiantly go again. Quote

Klaiber Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCSj_qUsKlo My co-worker got me into Nightwish. We were actually supposed to see them last year. Had tickets and everything, but couldn't get into the concert hall (even though we paid to) because the venue oversold the show, and there wasn't enough space inside for all the people who showed up. I wish I was kidding. Quote

Kliegmann Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Genitorturers is a industrial metal fetish band. Some of my more favorite songs really shouldn't be played in a public venue without child controls, but they're really good. I have also thought the same thing about them in regards to Rob Zombie, which is another band I like listening to. Another band I like is Arch Enemy. I got to meet Angela Gossow, when I went to a concert at the Rave in Milwaukee with my son who was playing with his band in the next room over. (I kinda sorta feel shitty about that, cause I went over and watched Arch Enemy instead of my son LOL. He was Ok with it though, cause I got to meet her. He had already met her and he was like, "She's pretty awesome huh?") Klaiber 1 Quote
