Vonrd Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Sarah Joyce has a beautiful voice... nice arrangement Quote
Klaiber Posted November 22, 2017 Author Report Posted November 22, 2017 Those are great cuts Vonrd! Always a big fan of Booker T. When my wife and I were driving through Memphis about 10+ years ago, we got the chance to see the Stax Musuem, built on the location where Booker T. and the MGs recorded Green Onions. It was amazing. Honestly, the list of artist that had recorded at Stax is amazing too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stax_Records#Stax_artists Quote
Klaiber Posted November 22, 2017 Author Report Posted November 22, 2017 PS: Daryl's House is great. Quote
Lipfert Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Wow, This entry won the Tribute round at Music Poker this last weekend. Amazing cover by Canadian Inuit artist IsKwe at Strombo's house in Toronto, rest in peace Gord. Sorry, got removed for some odd reason. S! Quote
J5_Hotlead Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 This song is off one of the first CD albums I owned as a kid. Has remained one of my favorites. I've also been listening to this one by Barlow Girl. I really like the tight harmony! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8QubLxJI54 Quote
Pragr Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 My two cents of what I'm listening now (except the tons of others) Klaiber 1 Quote
Klaiber Posted December 13, 2017 Author Report Posted December 13, 2017 I haven't heard of Amaranthe, but they remind me a lot of Nightwish. I like them. Quote

Vonrd Posted December 19, 2017 Report Posted December 19, 2017 Great DP! As an ex keyboard player, this was inspirational. Klaiber 1 Quote
Vonrd Posted December 21, 2017 Report Posted December 21, 2017 Even though satirical and tongue-in-cheek it was amusing yet faintly disturbing during the Cold War... perhaps even more so given the current climate: Quote
Klaiber Posted January 3, 2018 Author Report Posted January 3, 2018 Tear For Fears is one of my top 5 favorite bands. Songs From the Big Chair is an amazing album, as is The Haunting. I'm also partial to Raoul and the Kings of Spain. Have you heard any of Roland Orzabal's solo album, Tomcats Screaming Outside? It's very good: My favorite Simple Minds song has always been New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84): GenMarkof 1 Quote

Dudley Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 Speaking of 1970, try Spirit - Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. Great album - it holds up very well today - many excellent cuts. Give it at least a 45 second listen! Lipfert and Klaiber 2 Quote
Klaiber Posted January 3, 2018 Author Report Posted January 3, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koD-ZRxYOSQ I got 16 of 24 I think you've just elevated this thread to new levels. Music quiz! I got 20 out of 24. I goofed on the name of the last one in the 1960s. I called it something else. I missed the first one in the 1970s. And I missed the first and fourth in the 1990s. I knew the fourth in the 1990s, but couldn't think of the name until after I saw it. Quote
Klaiber Posted January 3, 2018 Author Report Posted January 3, 2018 Speaking of 1970, try Spirit - Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. Great album - it holds up very well today - many excellent cuts. Give it at least a 45 second listen! I've never really heard anything by Spirit, outside of I Got A Line On You. And of course Taurus (the song Led Zeppelin "lifted" for Stairway). Based on this album, I can tell that's my loss. I'll definitely have to look up more of their discography. Thanks! Quote
Kliegmann Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL3t1uzwJyk This one I got 21 out of 30. Some are pretty difficult. Quote
Klaiber Posted January 5, 2018 Author Report Posted January 5, 2018 Same, got 21 out of 30. I recognized most of them, but completely blanked on some of the artists. Quote
