  1. I have flown Pacific events in both Warbirds and Aces High. Was a part of a F6F-5N and then F4U-1 squad. So when the Pacific came up we got to fly allies every other event was were needed. We also flew P40s in AVG scenario I had fun in them all despite having the advantage or being at a disadvantage. We can talk all we want about this plane has advantage or this country has advantage. The thing that is left out is time and time again is that I have seen inferior planes take out the so called uber planes. Whether it was because they were flown by a great squad or because they had an altitude advantage and used the sun. I could fly a Zero but there were pilots in that game that could beat me in a Wildcat. I was quite good in the Hellcat but there were guys that could beat me in a Zero. Now granted that was 10 years ago and I have learned since then but guess what so did they. I recall flying in an event with Hellcats and getting jumped by Zeros from above. They were not only above us but happened to be one of the best squads in the game. So half of our flight got chewed up before we dove out and regrouped. In Aces High the events were set up so each side had 3 targets. All three targets had to be defended and all three targets had to be attacked. No rules on how and when the targets had to be attacked. I do recall a time sitting in Corsairs with drop tanks and hitting a target 1:45 into the mission. Philippines if I recall. What we would do is drain internal fuel for a bit then switch to external. That way if we got jumped on the way we wouldn't be heavy with fuel. Midway is a terrible map choice unless it was for free. New Guinea, Guadalcanal, Burma, Okinawa and the Philippines would be good maps. The Philippines would allow early and late war scenarios. I am not sure if I'm in the minority here but I would rather fly one long sortie than 3 short ones. I miss flying with drop tanks. I actually preferred the Hellcat over the Corsair as long as I have a good wingman. That rear visibility is atrocious in the Hellcat. In fact when I left Warbirds I had a 6 kill streak going in the F6F-5 in events.
  2. Its funny you picked this video. It happened to be the other video I thought about posting.
  3. Local rock station is playing 1057 requests to start off the new year. Anything they have played in the last 40+ years is fair game. They played this today. Never heard it before and it is usually not my genre of music but like it.
  4. I recall seeing something weird like that when I was using that mod for VR zoom. Every time there was an update it messed with that mod. If you have used mods in that past I would check your mod install folder or JSMGE to see if there is something there that is no longer supported or needs an update. What about shaders.
  5. Those would also be mine. Happy Holidays
  6. Ran across this interesting video.
  7. MRTV just did a basic Youtube video of the HP Reverb G2. I really love his channel for all things VR. I will wait for a Index versus Reverb video before I make any decisions. I have a feeling though this will be my next VR headset.
  8. A guy I work with and I were just talking about that song today. We talked about the Crossroads Festival 2010 version. Winwood got brought up due to the fact that Spencer Davis passed away yesterday. So here is a different song from the same concert.
  9. Oh, you meant that whisky.
  10. Great write up. Current Valve Index user and former HTC Vive Pro user. Its been a year since I used the Vive Pro don't recall what I didn't like about it but the Vive was a step up. I do recall the sweet spot being terrible in the Vive Pro. The Index is better but lets face it I want even better. For the most part when I put on my head set its lined up to the sweet spot. Sometimes its a little too high or low on my nose. I also noticed if its not flush to the face it can look odd at times. An example of not being flush is tight on my forehead but not tight by the nose and cheeks. This causes the lower half of the lenses being tilted away from me. I also wish that games would offer a screen for testing to make sure your headset was adjusted properly. Something as simple the word test repeated on the screen so you can make sure your headset is on properly before you fly a sortie.
  11. First Complex Flight Sim and I will say that looking back it was impressive compared to other titles out at the time.
  12. This was first and second.
  13. I played chess off and on through the years never bothered to learn openings. Mostly due to my friends never learned them either. We didn't need to we had some very intense games without them. I haven't played in 10 years never gave it a thought. A chess streamer Twitch popped up on my Youtube recommendations next thing I know I went down a chess rabbit hole. Found a free site Lichess.org with a library of videos from Youtube. Puzzles which are boards setup in the mid to end game. They usually are the best way to get into or avoiding chaeckmate.
  14. The music in that Mig-19 video was amusing. I was expecting some Herb Alpert or Henry Mancini next in the line up.
  15. or the guitar shop
  16. Found this Youtube Channel The air war starts around 4:30
  17. As long as she passes the fidelity test. On a side note if it wasn't for the pictures I wouldn't have realized the razorback was released.
  18. ".....have violent ends"
  19. Yes and no. You will be able to play everything that you bought. Steam will update the game as normal because all the planes are there all ready they just need to be purchased before they are unlocked for you. The only thing is in your Steam account when you go to the store page. It will show only the purchases you made from Steam. So be careful in the future when there is a sale on Steam that you don't buy something you own all ready. The first time I bought 1 collector plane just to make sure it worked. I buy all my planes from IL2 now that way I can fly the planes before they are released to Steam.
  20. @Vogel In order to use them with the steam edition you must have Staligrad on steam. I have Stalingrad and Moscow through Steam everything else is through the website. Works fine and it updates through Steam so I don't have to do anything. DCS on the other hand you can only use one or the other. There was some crossover back in the day but that has ended.
