Hey Hotled, These are relatively simple devices. Take a look at the videos. Most likely a bad potentiometer or a mechanical link to the pot or a broken wire. Tear it down and take a look... you have nothing to lose and as a mechanic, I can say there is nothing as satisfying as troubleshooting a problem and applying a repair yourself. Take Luft up on his very generous offer if you can't suss it out. That failing... fly with the twist grip. Look at it as a challenge . I know you can do it... you can fly AND gun (successfully) at the same time. Very few of us can claim that facility (not me for sure). I'm sure you originally flew that way as most all of us had. Fly WW2 where the rudder control is relatively less important (you will have to map the brakes though for ground handling... maybe a hat switch?) 5 weeks is WAY too long to be without you (selfish, I know).

Hi Geezer, This is really interesting... looking forward to Chapter 3. As an aside, I tried to register on the WW forum but ... An Invitation Code is also required to complete the registration form. Ask any WW member for the code. I'm officially asking One of the reasons is that we are trying to revitalize the WW2 portion of JG1 and would like to ask if WW would like to get together and do some flying. I have flown a few times on your BOS Coop and had a great time. I see you guys practice on Tues and it looks like you have a campaign starting on Jan 30th. Is this WW only? Would you be interested in having other pilots involved. Please excuse my audacity if it is a private affair. Just looking for some playmates. We are going to be doing regular practice / events on Wednesdays and will tentatively be alternating between CLoD and BOS and would welcome any Wingwalker's presence. Salute!

I believe so. Unless skins were accepted by the Devs and put into an official skinpack, the only way to use those skins would be in "Mods on" mode. In mods off you couldn't even see them in the available skins in the hangar. Talking ROF here.

Yep... dds files same as ROF but there will no longer (for the near future at least) be official skin packs. Pro: Your skins are no longer held hostage until given the blessing by the devs and hard coded into the game. Con: Erm... kinda the same... any Bozo can do any kind of skin... perhaps even "invisible" skins along with Pink Hello Kitty skins. Pro: You don't see any of the above unless you insert the .dds file into your game / skin folder. Con: As a squad, all members will have to load the JG1 skins... Can you say "Cat Herding"? Con: Even with all JG1 members having loaded our fabulous skins, we will see them but everyone else (unless they have taken the time to load them... can you say "unlikely"?... they will see the default skin). This will be a Summer skin. If it's Winter... well... can you say "Sore Thumb?". Not sure how we'll deal with this. Actually (and I hate to say this) the Skinpack system makes sense and I kinda hope they bring it back for BOX and FC. At least COD has the option to change your aircraft number. Still, you can't change the overall skin to add distinguishing markings (White wingtips for example). A possible work-around for any JG1 BOX tournament (hint, nudge, nudge... Kleigmann) is that all participating squads / Mercs submit their skins .dds files as part of registration and ALL skins are compiled into a .zip file (or, even better, a self extracting .exe file - do we have anyone who knows how to make such?) and these skins are a requirement for participation. Probably unenforceable but we have several unenforceable rules in FIF... no? I'm not sure if there is a performance hit with custome skins - especially if there is a large percentage of 4K skins. I could compile the skin files (Baron already has quite a few for the Europeans) and I can do a .zip but I don't know how to do a self extracting .exe file. I'm teachable though. That being said - I would be willing to make any interested JG1 pilots a personal skin. Nothing elaborate, mind you. Just your acft. number and any personal graphic (like my Devil Wrench) layered over the default camo of your choice. Edit: "and these skins are a requirement for participation" I don't mean to imply that custom skins are a requirement to participate... just that if a squad wants to / has custom skins, they should submit them as part of the registration process.

I was thinking that a "JG1 Skins" Subforum would be a good idea (like the current "JG1 Video"). Not sure if it would be worthwhile or how much work it would be to subdivide it into aircraft type - Bf109, FW-190, etc. - since in BOX (and ClOD for that matter) skins will have to be added individually. Will do if I have to but dropbox was working previously and I'd like to avoid the hassle of duping to another account. What's the size limit of files here? Maybe file too large?
