Did you order the better speakers, thicker face plate and comfort head strap? These were essential and after I got my headset without it it took an additional couple weeks to get these.

Good one. Last summer I took my parents flying and we met their friends at Hood River Oregon and they had this exact sign to enter the FBO after hours.

Nice visuals but would like to see the map coverage. Will it have some or most of Iran? Kuwait? Saudi?

Yes!

Maybe 15-20 yrs ago we had a tow bar break pushing a DC-9. Went through the tug window and seriously injured the driver.

I don't have Recall and Snapshots on my latest updated Win 11, but I do have a section in Privacy and Security called Activity History, which seems to be the same thing so I turned it off and cleared the history.

Here is my updated mission brief in pdf and map pictures. These are designed to be sent to other squadrons for invites to help better prepare before the event. The first two pics are Red and second two are Blue side. I need to create another doc with the plane/weapons set. Yom Kippur II Briefing 1.1.pdf

Even if you don't do any mission editing, I thought this could be a place to help with ideas. After my Yom Kippur mission I have a couple project ideas I welcome input: 1. WW2. I am thinking about how I can implement what I learned from doing Yom Kippur into a WW2 map. There are challenges because there is only limited ground attack you can do in the limited plane set, but I could do a strictly air war (with points for airplanes shot down) but that might be more of an "Air Quake" style. I also thought of being able to use the radio F10 menu to activate, say, a bomber squad to take off and rendezvous with you for an air raid/escort mission. The channel map is often neglected but might be more realistic if we tried doing some kind of Battle of Britain scenario with Germans escorting bombers to England? 2. Turkish invasion of Cyprus. I thought this would be an interesting use of the Syrian map. The area would be limited and could provide some good action and in the early cold time period (1974), but the plane set doesn't really match what we have in DCS. I could do a fictional plane set (like what I did in Yom Kippur II) but could use ideas on what that should be. Should the Greeks or Turks even have Migs? We could always come up with some kind of fiction..... 3. A more limited air combat "Air Quake" style jet match with points.

Some of you know that I've been totally frustrated with IL2 controls not working properly. I've been messaging back and forth with tech support about this and was about to give up. The D7F Altitude throttle, mixture control, and water radiators just would not respond to any control inputs at all, even though the controls were recognized in the settings. I couldn't even get it to recognize the keyboard commands. Well, I got in to LAX this afternoon and found out Hawg is on a different trip here (he got in early this morning) so we went to dinner. As I was explaining this to him, he suggested I look to see if my Engine Management controls are set to easy/automatic. So when I got back to my room I checked it out and now it works! Apparently when I downloaded IL2 to my new gaming laptop it is automatically set for "Normal" which includes easy engine management and I had never considered this as I was so used to it working properly for the last couple years. The keyboard commands now work and I have no doubt my controls will now work also when I get home.

I got my "comfort/upgrade package" yesterday for the Crystal Light, including more comfortable face cushion, top strap, and better speakers. I wish I would have know about these and ordered them along with the headset, because what a difference! Actually quite comfortable now and the sound is much much better. I think that because I was jury rigging with weather stripping (near the bottom of my eyes to increase the distance from lenses and reading glasses) it was causing the tracking to get thrown off more easily (and the XR Necksafer was being a bit wonky). Now with everything is in proper place it is working much more smoothly, a LOT more comfortable, and the XR Necksafer is working great. Actually starting to really like this headset.

I am now confused by your confusion

yes I am offended by your confusion

All, I am nearing completion of my Sinai Yom Kippur II PvP mission and thought I'd pass along my mission briefing so you can see it and start giving some input. It's almost ready for testing with the group (maybe in next week or two?). I am including here the general and the Red briefing along with a pic from the Red side at the beginning of the mission. Loadouts will be in general the R-60/R3R vs 9P/7E2. Su-25 and A-10A's along with other aircraft and helos are available. CTLD and CSAR are implemented and can be strategically implemented.

Maybe next they can strap it to a car. Wait, I think someone already did that

Here is the documentation for this. It's up and running on Enigma's now so might be useful if we are going to fly there. https://github.com/Wizxrd/SRC

@Erhardt and I have been working on the F-4 quite a bit. The Shrikes are a bit frustrating and I’ve tried direct, dive toss and lofting but find going in low and doing direct within 5 nm works best. Getting them tuned correctly has also been a challenge. I’ve got a gaming laptop also (MSI Titan) because I travel a lot and like to do mission editing from the hotel. Just ordered a Pimax Crystal Light to replace my HP G2 so will see how that goes. After this week I will be home for a couple weeks so let me know if you want to fly together. I have a Fox3 server and have custom scenarios like some IFR maps we can do some instrument formation flying and landings. Also a SAM training map.

I just sent this to my FO from yesterday. He had just told me a story about how he was flying with another capt who was over 40 kts fast and too high at 500 ft but forced the landing. The FO is new and young so he thought the capt must know what he’s doing so I had a big discussion with him about just this subject and that as an FO he now has the ability/right to call a go around himself and the capt is supposed to comply. Too many airplanes have run off in the weeds from that kind of crap. Plus the FOQA (black box) is going to tell on you and you’re going to at least get a call from safety.

This looks very promising and also looks much easier to use than LotATC. I think they are hoping to release it to general public/server owners in the next few weeks.

If I play Surgeon Simulator can I get checked out by a dr online so I can finish a surgery for him in case he passes out or something? We could have volunteers who get these certificates wait at hospitals in the event of such an emergency…..”I’m not a dr but I play one online” But seriously, I can’t imagine a crew ever doing this. Maybe, just maybe, they would call a jumpseating pilot up front to help, especially if they worked at same airline, but otherwise no. Jumpseaters have helped in an emergency in the past. An unknown passenger would not only be a potential security issue but a safety liability up there.
