They are the Könige of compound words! Interestingly enough, "compound word" is a compound word in German: "zusammengesetzte Wörter", or "together-set word".

My favorite Deutsche word: Hubschrauber.

50% discount for a DCS module right now?

Oh, the L-39 is a great plane and, as an instructor, a fine airplane to teach with as you can sit in the back with a student up front. Yeah, might not be the best use in DCS, but I'd fly observer in the cold war server as an extra set of eyes in a Fox-2 loaded Albatross. Makes me want to revisit the JG-1 Aerobatic team idea. -
1966 called, they want their prototype back:

I will always remember my .7 hours in an SNJ (Navy T-6) with fondness. It has to be my favorite father's day gift, of all time.

Congratulations, gentlemen!

My favorite twin.

I don't think there are any that you've missed of mine, but I'll check later. Same concept as before, red and yellow, please.

A good friend of mine shared an amazing story about a (presumably) Russian pilot in an Mi-8/17 landing in the middle of a firefight on a COB in Afghanistan. The helicopter was shot up and he put her down in the middle and my friend, the senior NCO on the COB, told him to get his fire hazard out of the middle. The pilot said, “No. It is no good. Russia will buy me a new one.” and walked away. Later, that pilot came back with another Mi-8/17, delivering supplies. Probably a civilian operation and a battle hardened pilot.

Close, not physically, but assignment wise, the same. My first duty station after airborne school was with the 1/509th PIR, out of Ft. Polk, LA. It was the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and we were the OPFOR guerrillas, 10 months out of the year. I had earned a reward sortie as one of 4 door gunners on the Hip. Back then, TRW operated a number of Soviet helicopters, to include the Mi-8, Mi-24D, and Mi-2. I’ve been back to that airfield and the Hoplite is still there, derelict in a corner. It was sad to see it after 20+ years. However, that Hind was very impressive to see fly overhead in the middle of a rotation, a memory I will never forget.

Klai sounded a lot like that the other night. 5-star river to 3-star river, etc.

Quick clip of me using the scratchpad for the second time in DCS in VR. It’s quite simple and effective! To get the location to stop updating in the F10 map, I had to position the scratchpad just below the location and drag my cursor down onto the scratchpad. This caused the cursor to stop updating the coordinates and I could type into the overlay.

I absolutely love the Mi-8! I was an OPFOR door gunner in one back in the '90s, during a training event. As for the sim, she doesn't like to slow down and descend in a straight line, you've been warned.

That looks like a fun skin

Altered the link to the consolidated Vonrd skins on the original post to the following: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/c844525rxd5zvcm/AABE1WfzYD2M5r6Cgcf9RqOqa?dl=0 Vonrd has gone through great lengths to update the skin database on recent roster changes.

I’ve used a web belt to strap my chair to my center stick, lol.

Definitely helps, a little clunky at first but I’ll just create a voice command or a new keybind. I definitely recommend it!

I'd hate to take an average of our player base to see what "really old" means to a lot of us Welcome, Von_Webber. Our CO will be along shortly with some additional details. Which flight sim(s) do you play?

Finally installed this, should come in handy. Will be testing it tonight with Klai in the Harrier.

Hey Sharkzz! Glad to see you’re adapting instead of letting it define you. Have you looked into Voice Attack for the switches, like gear and flaps? It’s a voice recognition program that you can customize to perform actions based on phrases of your choice.

Not in my boy’s hands. I’ve lost all my Star Wars LEGOs piece by piece, and they’ve been glued on initial assembly.

My condolences, Lip. We’ll be here upon your return.

I have it but have only played a JTAC lasing targets for A-10Cs. Now, I do that from a Harrier.

PG map is amazing and opens up a lot of online options. After last night’s practice in the Harrier, it really is best to have a favorite and stick with it. I had forgotten so much in the last few months. Didn’t help I had a corrupted file, either. But man, I couldn’t even input a waypoint!

Lots of titles on sale, like Battletech, ArmA III, and Assetto Corsa! Yes, I'll be buying Assetto Corsa and trying out the mods. May be set up in time for the next series, we'll see.
