S! Yes, I am old. I go back to the days when televisions and radios had tubes. Then along came transistors. You would get a board and say "looks like a blown cap." Pull it out and solder in a new one. By the 70's Replacing parts on a board was over. You just replaced the board. I worked in medical imaging. It was great to see the advancement in computers and digital imaging. As Alvin Toffler wrote in "Future Shock", what were once expected to be durable goods are now disposable. In the mean time, I think we aught to change it from "Hotlead Coldfeet" to "Leadfoot"

S! All The Dry run went fairly well. We discovered some glitches and they have been changed. Mostly subtitles. We did have several people in Rolands with twin rear guns. This is not allowed. Please remember to check weapons mods when getting into the mission. Rolands only get a single rear gun. S!

S! All The Christmas truce is over. The politicians and generals were pleased to be home for the holidays but it could not last. We have a war to fight! The winter campaign will be an ordeal. Welcome to Tarnopol! Yes it is the Russian map with early planes. We have done this one a few years ago. We have added new missions since then so the map is a little larger. Objectives, maps and plane set are available on JG1 forums. There is a practice mission running on the JG1 server. If you get on and there is not enough time to do the mission you want, you can restart the mission by killing the balloon at the bomber base. It is highly recommended that people doing General Capture, Spy pick up and Prisoner Rescue practice these missions. We will have a dry run on 13, January 2018 at the usual time. Real hostilities start 20, January 2018 at the usual time.

S! All Big CONGRATZ !! Just a comment. The medal awards are nice. They look very pretty. There is something much more important here. It is the listing of accomplishments and the appreciation for these magnificent deeds. It is an inspiration to all. Well done and well deserved!

S! All We are headed for session 3 in Phase B. Blue team is Entente and Red team is Central. As we approach the holidays our numbers may get a bit strained but we shall endeavor to persevere.

S! All Looks like server is ok. Stats are working. We had a couple of glitches on Phase B session 1. The HQ that the Entente needed to destroy had a vehicle in a hangar. This prevented the objective from being completed. The vehicle has been moved to in front of the hangar. The Central prisoner escape did not work because the ambulance ran only half way to the airfield and stopped. There is some suspicion that he was shot by AI gunner. All Ambulances have been set to invulnerable. With a glitch on each side it is considered a wash and the scores will stand as displayed at end of game.

Phase A session 4 Well, the server is ok. Had some bugs with the mission. Score for Entente is 14 not 16. Problem with score was with rescue mission. I had a counter that was on reset after each use. It caused the rescue message that should be in the scores to display early and not display at the end. This same counter is responsible for inflating the score. Next session we go to a new plane set and Blue team is Central, Red team is Entente.

S! On another note, I think Tanks is an attempt to compete with World of Tanks and or War Thunder. Prokhorovka is a great historical battle field with many features. If they do it right and add new maps on a regular basis, I will be in a Tiger when not in a plane. Tiger in the artwork looks very nice.

The engine for IL2 was rebuilt. It has many more capabilities including VR. A big S! to Hotlead about the announcement. He got it right. I thought they were going to announce the merger of the forums and the death of RoF because they were doing it on the IL2 forum area. This looks really good. I hope the small map size means they will be developing many small maps with high detail. People will get tired of only one map 100 x 100 km. That is barely twice the size of War Grounds or FiF. A new map and new planes every six months would be great. The IL2 engine is very robust. We can hope to see ground crews at airfields. Presently we have very few AI objects, about 80 or less. This will allow us about 200. Some of those will be targets and some will be AI decoration. FiF will change as new features and capabilities become utilized. Since pre-order may be available in the first half of next year, dare we hope for a special Christmas present in 2018?

S! All Just a reminder, Saturday, 11 November, 2017 is the third mission for FiF Fall campaign. We will switch sides. Blue team is Entente and Red team is Central. Should we really be fighting on the 99th anniversary of the end of the war? Since war is Hell, I guess the answer is Hell yes! I have made some adjustments to the JG1 server. It is now running 3 cores and 7 gig of Ram. If we get lag, I am afraid that we must rely on the kindness of Mr. Cuban. I have already sent him the files. As for as the JG1 server, if it does not work this week, we will find a new server provider. Apologies to all for our recent problems.

It has been a long time and you have been sorely missed. Welcome, welcome, welcome. I don't believe there is any need for Membership review. It is just a mater of getting you permissions and info.

S! Just a reminder Saturday, 4, November, 2017 is just the second mission for FiF fall campaign. It will use the 'even' map and Blue team is still Central and Red team is still Entente. Red team will also use the new wing mounted 50 caliber machine gun pods with 10,00 rounds of ammo and laser spotter.

S! All Many thanks to Cuban for running Saturday's session. Congratz to Blue team for an outstanding performance. (you know payback is coming) Well Snaggle looked at the server and saw that it was really low on RAM and barely running TS. So, I checked on services and what it would take to add some more RAM. Something must have changed. The server cost with additional RAM is now 25% less. I put in the order but.... ooooops I screwed up and selected a new location. It took two hours to transfer and then it took me two hours to reset the IP addys and get the pw right. That means the server has a new ISP addy. JG1 TS will have a new addy. Hang on before you change anything. We are trying to get the name and addy set so it works with the old bookmark. Famous last words.... everything should be fine now.

S! All Sorry about the lag problem. Not sure what is up. We may have crossed a line with the total number of bases and types of planes. Testing after the mission was canceled was inconclusive. We may have to do an alternate map. Will update soon.

Hi, I started checking the movie instead of planes. There were pictures from the movie and some pictures of the plane. One of the pictures had the name of the plane. I then looked that up.

S! All Satellite is an 1956 just on the edge of space movie. The opening scene is a Vulcan take off. Very impressive. The "Space ship" looks like Fireball XL-5. Flanders In Flames 2017 Fall campaign. S! ALL We are set to do battle in the sky of northern France. Combat starts 21 October, 2017 Stat time is always 2 pm Eastern North American time. Posted here Time The area is well known to most online multi players. It is Amiens, Warfusee, Cappy, Assevilliers. Plane set is a late 1916, early 1917 mix. Registration, maps and target info are at JG1.org If you have previously registered, you are still registered. If you are new, we also have a STATS server you can register on at JG1 STATS There is a slight change in the General capture mission. In the northern Central capture area the General might be on a train. If he is, you have to bomb the train. He then switches to his car and fires flares to signal his surrender. You land and capture him as normal. In the southern area he is in a car as usual. The area for General on a train and General in a car are marked on the map. There were no acceptable landing places for Central to pick up the SPY. The SPY area was changed to a river area and the Central have float planes. A practice map is running on the JG1 server. If you want to restart the mission to get fresh targets and maximum time, kill the balloon at the 2 seater base.
