Klaiber Posted October 31, 2020 Report Posted October 31, 2020 I think I can basically follow along, only because I know the instruments and basically how they work. But I'm sure there are some details I'm completely missing. Quote

Firefly Posted November 8, 2020 Author Report Posted November 8, 2020 This is great! Feels so weird to see to many MiGs on American soil... Klaiber and wheelsup_cavu 1 1 Quote
Klaiber Posted November 11, 2020 Report Posted November 11, 2020 I know these have been posted before (maybe even in this thread). I mean... some of the video is shown on our jg1.org splash page. But, it's cool to be reminded of it. Richthofen Film Part 1 https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn1002567 Richthofen Film Part 2 https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn1002566 The film is not in order. It starts in 1918, and jumps back to 1917, for example. But there are some great shots of the German aces, Jasta 6, Jasta 11, and various aerodromes. Etzel, Firefly and Snaggle 3 Quote
Firefly Posted November 11, 2020 Author Report Posted November 11, 2020 Perfect timing, I was about to sit down with a pint and enjoy the rest of the evening. Snaggle and Klaiber 2 Quote
Snaggle Posted November 12, 2020 Report Posted November 12, 2020 The Films are interesting on so many levels: From the Fokker D.VI, Richthofen wound, to what looked like parachute harnesses. Klaiber 1 Quote

Firefly Posted November 18, 2020 Author Report Posted November 18, 2020 "Vertoloty v vozdushnom boyu" ("Helicopters in aerial combat"), a 1989 instructional film for helicopter crews produced by the Soviet Ministry of Defense. Could be useful for future DCS: Mi-24 pilots. Note the R-60 launcher @5:35! Klaiber, Snaggle, wheelsup_cavu and 2 others 3 2 Quote
Pfeil Posted November 19, 2020 Report Posted November 19, 2020 Music like from 80's italian Star Wars copy movie. Klaiber, Firefly and Etzel 3 Quote
Firefly Posted December 28, 2020 Author Report Posted December 28, 2020 A little change of pace from my usual stuff... Racing around Circuit de la Sarthe. At night. In a monstrous Group 5 Kremer Porsche 935 K3. In a gaggle of Le Mans prototypes. This may well be the most epic automotive video I've ever seen (and I'm not even a Porsche guy!). If you're a petrolhead then it's an absolute must-watch. Our JG1RT members will love this. Klaiber, Lipfert, Snaggle and 2 others 4 1 Quote

Firefly Posted August 7, 2021 Author Report Posted August 7, 2021 These guys are living the high life. NSFW warning, video might contain sexy warbirds! Note how the pilot straightens the plane on the runway when rolling (haven't we all done that in the MiG-21?) and how the ventral fin extends downwards upon the retraction of the landing gear. Firefly Posted August 24, 2021 Author Report Posted August 24, 2021 I've had that on my Watch later list for a few days now, I'm saving it for this weekend. The other day I found this absolute gem of a series on the A6M Zero. The uploader helpfully added hardcoded subtitles to every episode. wheelsup_cavu, Lipfert, Klaiber and 1 other 4 Quote

Firefly Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 This is how a tailslide looks through the HUD of a MiG-29 of Cpt. Adrian Rojek, a former demo pilot of the PAF Fulcrum Display Team. I've had the pleasure of watching his displays on several occassions, his performances were something else. A few more from his YouTube account: Look closely and you'll find yours truly among the spectators. Admittedly a person of my size may be a bit hard to spot (I'm 5'7" / 170 cm tall)... Firefly Posted September 5, 2021 Author Report Posted September 5, 2021 Incredible video of British carrier operations in the Far East in 1944. No sound. Includes footage of a tug-of-war between the deck crew and a stricken Corsair with its tail up. Klaiber, wheelsup_cavu and Erhardt 3 Quote
