I think that you should start a ticket with 777. It's worth a shot.

I can try turning it off... never had to before.  I let it sit.... the curious thing if I am reading it correctly is that it says it is downloading the game client which I assume is an update because the program is loaded. When I attempt to start it, it tries to update. Anyway... the numbers indicate that it is a 32 GB download... but it goes to 450+ GB and stops. I let it sit this time for about 4 hours and it just now finally came up with a FAILED TO UPDATE text on the red bar. 

 

Is UNinstalling and deleting the UPDATE folder enough or do I need to go find something else. I am stuck. 

I can't imagine anything else you could do, except reinstall windows. 

Snaggle fixed it. I will let him explain.  A big part of it was having it installed twice on different drives and I never knew it.

Even though this thread is a year+ old, I think it will be helpful to me. Am having the worst time getting Great Battles installed. Gonna try deleting the update folder and see what happens. Haven't heard back from Support yet. Have 2 tickets in but nothing yet. Flew with the Grenhards Squadron back in the old 1946 days. Am really looking forward to getting back in the Air. Been way to long on the ground.

No Joy with anything. Running my 5th attempt at this. Deleted update folder, etc. Ludwig and I are in the same boat. I have no idea what the Dev guys did to F this up but damn. Have 3 tickets in now with Support. No Joy there either.....so far.

On a different note, tried to get War Thunder to run but had trouble with that. Good thing it was free to try. Got everything running but no throttle control no matter what I tried. Gave up and uninstalled it. Grrr....

That's why I came back to IL-2. Figured it would work.

777 is the company that was absorbed by 1C, so as long as you're submitting your ticket to IL-2 Support, you're doing the right thing.

Have tried W and S keys, several button combinations on my joystick base, + and - keys, Shift and Control keys, made all changes the FAQs say to, etc. Throttle keys only work with a mouse and keyboard, and I can't fly using a mouse. Beyond truly annoying. Going to head over to Mission for Today and see if they have any answers.

I think there were issues with CH stuff.

Are you using any of the 3rd party peripheral software? Make sure that any 3rd party stuff is disabled and maybe even removed. (Of course, Virpil and Winwing use their own calibration / tweak software (I have both, Virpil CM3 throttle, Winwing stick) but they don't need to be and shouldn't be running when in game.

You DO have "Mouse" unchecked in "Input Devices"... yes?

 

Try sending a PM to Wardog5711 on the IL-2 forum regarding the tickets.

Yes, the mouse was unchecked for War Thunder. For IL2, everything was turned off, running administrator, etc.  No Joy. Snaggle, I completely agree. The 3rd party set-up is a huge step in the wrong direction. However, I have several games, (Cossacks 3, Space Hulk Deathwing, etc), which run from Steam and are perfectly fine. I think I'll ask for a refund for IL2 and go over to Steam to see if their download will get me in the Air again. I did some work on the Scourge of War series. Those games are huge, but the download is solid, you get the whole thing on your computer, and voila! There you go. Game on.

My fix was the usual one... I came back a few days later and turned on that computer and it worked fine. I have no clue (which is normal)
