loopy reacted to Flyboy in New free DCS GCI optionThis looks very promising and also looks much easier to use than LotATC. I think they are hoping to release it to general public/server owners in the next few weeks.

loopy got a reaction from Flyboy in Flying HumorSeems to me that this would be useful not to fly the plane but to wake the pilots up

loopy reacted to Vonrd in Mini-stick "Extension"This is on a Virpil CM3 Throttle but the idea should work on any Mini-stick. Having messed around with sensitivity / curves in both the VPC Config software and DCS controls I just couldn't get a good sweetspot. Then I thought about how much a stick extension on my joystick improved the overall feel and thought, "why not an extension for the Mini-stick as well?" I didn't want to damage the existing stick and tried several contraptions using flat head screws, dowels, etc. attached with electrical tape or double stick tape, all of which were not secure enough. I found this cap on a tube of antiseptic cream and remembered that I had some large heat-shrink tubing and came up with this idea. It works great! I'm able to slew precisely to a target at full zoom but still can move the cursor quickly at wide FOV. Maybe someone can come up with a plastic printable version that either snaps on or screws on over the OD of the button.

loopy got a reaction from Stuka in DCS update srewedTodays update will give you a 504 error, you will only be able to use the 2 free modules.
if you have updated its reported that if you revert to an earlier version you still get the 504 error

loopy reacted to Vonrd in TrackIR TutorialHe does a good job explaining how to set it up. I've modified the one I've been using for years and it's much better now. I was doing it all wrong...

loopy got a reaction from Klaiber in DCS Screenshot ThreadYou should still be able to lower the seat via the switch in the jet

loopy got a reaction from Britchot in DCS Screenshot ThreadWith the F14 i was having a hard time AAR because the normal view you had next to no reference with the refueler, then i lowered the seat until it would not lower anymore, found that made it easier, no need to go to bomb mode just leave it in auto

loopy reacted to Etzel in My daughters 2nd successfull landing...Finally I found the time to create a vid of my recording of the 2nd successfull landing of my daughter (The 1st save touch down happened pretty suprising, so I did not film it, but the 2nd one I did record.) 😉
It was already more than 3 months ago, few days before her 5th birthday, but was too busy in last months to create and upload it:
She really had exclusive control over the Joystick and the throttle and acting on my instructions, while had rudder and view control.

loopy reacted to Pragr in IL-2 BoX Screenshot ThreadMe and Heinrich discussed the effectiveness of A-20 in anti tank role. I performed few quick play tests and this is result.
First figure shows the situation after three four-bomb runs on three moving Pz IVG. All tanks were destroyed for expanse of 12 100 kg bombs. I made additional attack to illustrate how the A-20 attack profile can be so effective even against tank that try to perform evasive action.
Second figure shows the string of four bombs bracketing the target. I marked three bombs using red circles. Fourth one is not visible here since it hit the tank directly. The separation between bombs is as large as one and half length of PzIVG. The biggest advantage of such approach is that the tank has basically no chance to avoid sever damage. If it moves forward or backward it will be hit by previous of subsequent bomb. There is no time for lateral movement. Additionally, bombs skip at such level flight profile often improving the accuracy even more since there is chance it hit the tank after the skip (in general, rather drop bombs sooner than later).
The last figure shows explosion of bomb number two and three from previous figure. So if you attack the tank from front or back, there is very limited option for tank of what to do to prevent seriously damage.
For all who are not interested, I'm sorry for useless post

loopy reacted to Pragr in IL-2 BoX Screenshot ThreadOne additional figure. This shows how easy the aiming actually is. The picture is taken in the exact moment I dropped the bomb.
95 to 100 percent of throttle, 85 to 90 percent rpm (simply max continues setting). Altitude slightly above the tree tops. Drop mode sets to four bomb salvo, 2 s fuse delay, ripple interval of 0.1 seconds. Default 0.05 interval offers more concentrated drop but you have to be confident of your skill. In my opinion, 0.1 second is the best trade off between aiming error elimination and target area saturation. You drop salvo once the target disappears below the nose (you can see the smoke from already destroyed tanks).
This attack resulted in the bracketing the target on figures in my previous post.
