  1. That's really cool!
  2. Happy 30th WW! We are integrating both Teamspeak and SRS in our comms to try to minimize cross-talk. It's a work-in-progress.
  3. Here's the most fun I've had in a while. A true "cold" start.
  4. Honestly, IDK. Unplugged things, plugged things back in. Opened up all the software and tried to adjust settings. Restarted my PC like 5 times.
  5. Got it sorted. Still want to choke someone.
  6. Since the latest update from windows I no longer have any kind of function from my headphones. None. At all. I found them disabled and re-enabled them and then set them as default but I get ZERO sound. On top of that, the SteelSeries GG software won't even recognize the headset at all even though it is set as my default device in windows. Everything has worked wonderfully from the day I brought these headphones home until today. It is not often that I get the urge to physically assault someone but boy am I feeling it right now.
  7. Looks like something to have!
  8. Well, I'll make sure I get this update started as soon as I get home.
  9. Finally got to watch the video and I have to say this is a great piece HotLead. Great work!
  10. For reference, this is the monitor I have: TUF Gaming VG27VQ - Review|Monitors|ASUS USA It's 27" and around $250. Besides being one of the smaller monitors I've had, its quality is superb.
  11. I don't remember the size but I think mine is somewhere in the 30" range but my monitor is curved and it's great. I would love to upgrade to something a bit bigger but there are a lot of things pulling at my wallet right now and computer stuff is at the absolute bottom of the priority list. For anyone thinking about going to a curved monitor for sims I would highly recommend it.
  12. LOL well I don't speak Greek so I'd probably starve to death or get sold as a slave. But Hector is more honorable in the movie. His fights with Patroclus and Achilles are much different in the book. His final encounter with Achilles in the Iliad is akin to something you'd expect from Monty Python.
  13. I just finished reading The Iliad for my mythology course. Good book. Very interesting to contrast it to the 2004 movie. In some ways, the movie is better.
  14. It was an interesting concept.
  15. Lazerpig's laying into the "Reformers" is pretty hilarious. Hearing their ideas makes you wonder how in the world anyone takes them the least bit seriously. His bit about the Bradley was pretty good.
  16. That was a bad time. IIRC that campaign was the one that forced the change to both teams flying each side. Still had some fun, but it's the reason I'm not too enthusiastic about any Pacific Theater games. It's just too imbalanced. This is something that might interest some of you, especially since the incorporation of tank battles in IL-2: Language Warning
  17. As a long-time maintenance person I have developed a deep resentment for engineers and executives who don't give any consideration to maintenance. If I had $100 for every time I cocked my head and said aloud, "I have to do what?" I could buy a seat on a SpaceX rocket. I have a lot of respect for the S2000, though I've never owned or driven one. I've always been into the smaller, more nimble cars. I find the thrill of cornering much greater than brute acceleration.
  18. There are things that are throwbacks to the OG Hi-power that FN did that Springfield did not. Both have taken the platform and made improvements. I really can't believe Browning never put in the development to update the Hi-power over the last 30 years of production. The MK3 was horrendously out-dated.
  19. Can't argue with that! Development is slow in DCS because of the intricacies of the aircraft models. Greater rate of return with the more complex jets especially since DCS has a near monopoly on the modern combat sim (with a couple exceptions). Good news is that DCS should be around for a while so every new WW2 module will add to the list and hopefully we will have a decent theater soon.
  20. I have some collector guns. I have a 1944 Vintage M1 Garand, an Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine (replica, not original), a Colt WW1 reproduction 1911 (first gun I ever bought), a 1941 Winchester Auto-5 (Winchester took over production of the Auto-5 after the Nazis took the FN factory), and a Winchester 1897 made in 1911. I had a sporterized springfield 1903 made in 1910 that I sold a while ago. I also have a couple of AR-15s, a P226 Mk25, and a Dan Wesson Vigil 1911. I guess you could say I have a thing for guns...
  21. Mine is a 1993 model made in Belgium. Was in original Mk. III trim when I bought it. Previous owner(s) apparently hadn't heard of this thing called "cleaning". As soon as it was in my hands I took it to the range and tried to put rounds downrange but couldn't make it through a single magazine without at least one failure. After I took it home, disassembled it, and cleaned two decades worth of grime out of it, it was shooting just fine (with the exception of hammer bite). I sent it to Robar just before they shut down their firearms operations and had it done over. Mag safety delete, wider trigger, trigger tune, new sights, new wood grips, SFS hammer system, NP3+ coated all the internals and some accent parts, RoGuard for the frame and slide. This gun will never go for sale. If I need money, I'll rob a bank with it before I sell it. For those curious about what the SFS system is:
  22. I was heart-broken when Browning discontinued the Hi-Power in 2018, but it was a blessing in disguise. Now there are three manufacturers offering their own versions of this pistol from anywhere between $500 and $1300 (because FN). SOW was a good server, but if there is a vacuum left behind it will be filled.
  23. I still want to get the F/A-18, and practice with the A-4 (one of my favorites) but I hardly have enough time to enjoy WW2 stuff as it is.
