I can't say for sure it was "device removed" error but it was a DX11 related crash. Hope it works for you.

Lip, Try repairing all the Visual C++ installs through Control Panel/Programs and Features (some of the older ones you can't repair), then try and install all the Visual C from the VCRedist directory in the game directory. If you already have a newer version they won't install but that should be ok. Then uninstall the graphics driver using driver cleaner (from SAFE boot) and reinstall latest Nvidia driver. I had the same problem when I came back after my move and that seemed to fix it.

Are you sure the BIOS didn't have option to disable/enable onboard audio? That would be unusual. Perhaps note the BIOS manufacturer/version number and google onboard audio for that BIOS.

It's expensive, but I modded mine about 10 years ago and still works perfectly. Ian is really nice and helpful (at least he used to be). Otherwise, that link page has everything re the Cougar.
