I've seen Part 135 operations who never moved to electronic due to cost and paperwork needed for authorization as well as the cost of the devices needed. I assume that most Air Carriers and Part 135s have switched by now though. I seem to recall it used to be that going electronic was actually a change to the type certificate of the aircraft and was thus a Major Alteration requiring a Field Approval or STC. Otherwise, you still had to have the hard copies readily available, in flight to the pilot, even if using some form of electronic check list. 

I could be completely wrong though since this is under the operations side and my area of expertise was maintenance.

Was actually referring to the newspaper. Who actually reads physical papers vs e-readers/electronic/internet anymore?

Our company has been notoriously slow for any changes and we finally were forced to go to iPads a few years ago because for one thing Jeppesen wasn’t going to support the paper charts anymore. The QRH (Quick Reaction Handbook) is both paper (plastic covered) and iPad.
