From what I remember of my flying days the 152 feels very realistic for stalls. I never did spin recovery but for a regular stall with wing drop it felt very lifelike.
I'm trying to learn how to use the G1000 systems but all my IRL flying has been with the traditional six pack of instruments. I bet guys who are used to the SA afforded by the moving map display get REALLY disorientated when they're forced to fly without it. Being able to place yourself on a map using traditional methods is a skill every pilot should know like the back of their hand. GPS is cool until something happens or the company/state that owns them decides to not play ball. Germany in particular has spent a lot of time and money investing and upgrading their VOR stations as it's still very much needed.

First off, photobucket is garbage. But that’s not what I’m posting about.
 
I’ve taken a break from flight simming to pursue a personal goal of mine and that is coming along. I was hoping to get away from simming altogether but having a new wheel set up, a gaming rig, and some excess lumber I put some elbow grease into a dedicated racing rig. With a $40 Racing seat I pulled from a Toyota Celica at a local U-Pick it worked damn well. I had made some errors that I needed to correct to make it really work right but I never really got around to it until now.
 
However, when I decided to modify the setup I decided that racing sims weren’t as exciting as other things (and iRacing is a money pit) so when I pulled screws, recut some of the components, added new components, and did a little bit of redesign....well....this happened:
 

 

Lol! Shoulda guessed. So...when I was dropping all my extra ordinance, I was bathing the countryside in beir! What a waste...oh well, at least the locals love me now!

Just a reminder Saturday, 4, November, 2017 is just the second mission for FiF fall campaign.  It will use the 'even' map and Blue team is still Central and Red team is still Entente.
 
 
 
Red team will also use the new wing mounted 50 caliber machine gun pods with 10,00 rounds of ammo and laser spotter.

If you have an hour to spare, Brian's talk (~1:10) at Lawrence Livermore is pretty good. 
 
It also includes that story (it's from his ('92?) book "Sled Driver") but he has a lot of other interesting experiences and viewpoints he shares. He spent a year in a military hospital, recovering from an AT28 shootdown in 'Nam, before his "sled" days, for instance.  He's quite an entertaining and good speaker, plus he brought some great SR-71 pics to show as well.

Lol for the "Troll Bridge" mission...  I've had a lot of experience flying under bridges in our Tuesday Night Fly-In sessions, so I'd definitely sign up for that one!    That said, something a little more historic is probably a bit more appropriate, and I think Luftritter had a couple good ideas there.

Hmmmm... well, as interim commander this past Saturday, I made one of our guys wait the 5 minutes after he disco'd.
 
I guess my position would be -- "any time you exit a flight, you have a 5 minute wait".  The only exception I'm aware of is if you are killed or captured, you can become a gunner for someone else immediately.  I see the disco more as "ending a flight" rather than death or capture, so I don't have any issues with a 5 min wait...  Additionally, if the guy disco'd, a brief wait might be a good thing, just to see if his connection is settled or not before (potentially) losing another plane if his connection is still spotty.
 
 
That said, I don't have any strong feeling about it either way, so I'd be fine with the consensus opinion, provided it's clear and agreeable to all.

Ya know -- if you crazies had just stayed on your own side of the lines and not messed with our HQ, lives would have been spared -- but no -- you all gotta come over here, coppin' an attitude... (Where's Will Smith when I need him -- he does those lines so much better than me)...
