  1. Hi, I know there was a problem several weeks ago. What do we need to do to fix the stats? Is this going to be a new addy or location? thanx
  2. S! All J2_Adam turned me on to this.. It looks great, La Guerre des As. Their other movies and series look very good as well.
  3. So it is the next gen vehicle for Uber. Where's my smart phone? I need a ride to the mall.
  4. S! Do not plan on any. Any suggestions?
  5. S! All, We are getting things ready for the start of the Spring campaign. The Dry run will be at the usual time on 6, May 2017 ( notice how I avoid screwing it all up by not putting in the wrong time). Hostilities start 13, May 2017 The Dry run will have extra planes and no death penalty. We will be flying in the region around Laon. The Entente side has some nice hills and valleys. The area will be smaller than usual because we will be flying the very early planes. A practice map will be running on the JG1 server so people can see the area and practice missions. Kill the balloon at the 2 seater base to restart the server. phase A Entente DH2 and FE2b Central E3 and Roland phase B Entente N-17, a few N-11, and RE8 Central Halb D.II and Halb CL early There was concern about the mission chains being too long, such as if you kill or prevent the spy or General mission, you block 3 points. Those two missions have been changed. You still bring the Spy or General back to friendly territory for 1 point and on the way they tell you to search a sector. When you search the sector a new target pops up. That is their second point. Since the planes doing these missions do not carry bombs, another plane with bombs is needed to kill the target. The rescue mission gives 1 point when you get him home to a friendly airfield. After you land, he now tells you about a Reserve Unit target. The front line Recon gives 1 point when you get the pictures home. After you land, it tells you the Trench Attack point target. The HQ recon mission was left as a 3 point chain to create focus for action. The Wreath Drop has been changed. We were using the enemy 2 seater base as the place to drop the wreath. Unfortunately the heavy AAA made this a 50/50 suicide run. The idea to move the drop location was well received. But where to move it to? A hospital? Yes! 2 hospitals have been added to each side. Either hospital can be used for the wreath drop. There is only minor AAA by the hospital. Hospitals are hard to find on the map as they will be a little red dot with the name hospital. Actual hospital is a large building with a blue roof. Always close to a village and very easy to spot. Since our General capture mission was changed, his subtitles now look like Our objective list for each side now looks like Entente Recon of HQ Recon of Front Lines Rescue Factory Bridge General Capture Aerodrome Arty Spot Recon of HQ Secondary mission( pops up when Recon of HQ is complete ) Reserve Unit (pops up when Rescue mission is complete ) Front line Unit (pops up when Arty Spot completes ) Trench Attack ( pops up when Recon of Front Lines complete) Destroy HQ ( pops up when HQ Recon complete ) Bombers at a Factory ( Pops up when you land and pick up General ) Wreath Drop (pops up after Enemy Ace is killed ) Central Recon of HQ Epionage ( spy mission) Rescue Strategic Recon Factory Bridge Aerodrome Arty Spot Recon of HQ Secondary mission (pops up when Recon of HQ is complete ) Reserve Unit (pops up when Rescue mission is complete ) Front line Unit (pops up when Arty Spot completes ) Espion Target (pops up when you land and pick up spy ) Destroy HQ ( pops up when HQ Recon complete ) Destroy Off Road Convoy (pops up when strategic recon is complete ) Wreath Drop (pops up after Enemy Ace is killed ) An example oft the map. 2seater base underlined in yellow. Hospitals underlined in green.
  6. S! They are trying to squeeze the last drop of blood from RoF. Most planes about $1.67. Some cheaper some just a little bit more.
  7. S! The dynamic part of BoX is rather easy. It is merely activating or deactivating objects or changing the behavior. Very easy to get airfields to change sides. You merely need to set the conditions or triggers. The map is easy to adjust and changes when the victory conditions for that area are met. Just as easy to set recapture triggers. The whole front can be very fluid. The problem for me is that the map is new. I know where Lille is, I know where Douii, Albert, Dixmude, Verdun Nancy are. The deal is to get familiar with the Rail Roads, Regular Roads and Rivers. These are places for targets and triggers. Again, After an area is captured you can have a support column and retake it or what ever you like.Just set the conditions. The battle does not really have to stop. It just depends on the size of the area and the number of players. I think with a dedicated server on a good connection that 70 players are OK. Think War Grounds and when you bomb Pomacle, there are tanks crossing the mud. If you and they destroy all the defenders at the base, it becomes your base and has your planes available. You now have to defend it and keep up the pressure as you continue the advance. Where is Ahnold when you need him... "Mobile Strike now!!"
  8. S! All I know everyone is excited about TF and CloD. I do not want to be Johnny Rain Cloud but I would like to mention something that happened in the RB3D days. There were some problems with the "Advanced" FM. This was the realistic FM with engine torque etc. Several people worked on it. many good things came out of that but many problems were never solved. Eventually the code was hacked. What was fond was that the problems were the code in the engine itself and that you would need to rewrite the whole thing. I am afraid that there may be some things that TF may never be able to fix in CloD. They will make it much better than it is today but be careful in your expectations as there may be some glitches that are the result of the engine itself. Whatever TF does with CloD, I think it will be a year before we see results. While there are people that will put up with the existing minor problems most folks are migrating to BoX. BoX is supported and advertised and has a lot of online servers. And yes, everything Pfeil says, is going on in BoX. 777 may have solved much of the limitations on the number of entities that can be alive with their new engine. The big thing in all sims and games is dumbing it down to be a an I phone app. You will get High fidelity sims like DCS but because the market is small, the price is high. CloD and BoX are your average sim. They have enough complexity to be a sim but don't take an hour to get into the air. btw I have flown CloD and had to hit flaps, fuel, magneto 1, magneto 2, and a bunch of other stuff to start the engine. It gets better on an HE 111 with twin engines. Maybe that is a server setting?
  9. The Spy and General give 1 point when you bring them back and land safely in friendly territory.
  10. No no no Both are worth 2 points God, I am so terrible at explaining. The Prisoner Rescue is now worth 2 points. You rescue him (1 point ), and when you get home, he tells you location of Reserve Unit ( 1 point.). The Front line recon is worth 2 points. You do the recon ( 1 point ), and he tells you about the Trench Attack point ( 1 point ). The Spy is only worth 2 points. You pick him up and get him home ( 1 point ), On the way home he tells you to search an area where you get a location for another target (1 point ). The general is only worth 2 points. You pick him up and get him home ( 1 point ), On the way home he tells you to search an area where you get a location for another target (1 point ). Is that better or still confusing? We take 1 point from the General or Spy mission and add it to the Rescue Prisoner mission. Only 3 point mission is the HQ recon.
  11. Ok, Think I figured out one solution. Switch it so that the Front line Recon triggers the Trench Attack. Pictures show build up on trenches. Makes sense. Use the Rescue mission to trigger the Reserve Unit. You bring him home and he tells you about Reserve units he heard his guards talking about. You have to land at friendly base as usual to trigger second mission. Both General and Spy tell you to search an area for a target. You bring them home to get 1 point. You send out bombers to kill target you found. Second point. Sound OK?
  12. Thanks new targets are good
  13. S! Totally agree that the General is easier to cap. Definitely an advantage to the team defending him. Would like to keep him as is though. The slight difference in missions adds a little flavor to the pot. Agree that a 3 point mission creates a large swing in points. Would still like to keep the HQ recon a 3 pointer. I do think that having both Spy and General investigate an area to find another target is a good feature. It helps prevent people from running around the edge of the map. It creates more danger and the opportunity for air combat. We could take the Reserve unit away from the Spy. When you land with the Spy, you just get one point for bringing him home. Someone has to bomb the Espion target. That is your second point as part of the Spy mission.. The Central side is doing a Strategic recon. It is only one point. It could be used as a trigger for the Reserve unit . For Entente the General works the same way. You bring him home for 1 point. Someone else kill the Hidden Bombers at a Factory. That is the second point for the General. The General is the Trigger for the Trench Attack Point. The Front Line Recon is the trigger for the Reserve Unit. Would make sense to have the Front line recon trigger the trench Attack Point? We could use the killing of the Factory, Aerodrome or Bridge to trigger the Reserve Unit but I don't like it. I like the idea that you have to get back to base to generate a new target. Or, we could leave the Reserve Unit as it is as well as the Trench Attack Point. That would make the General 3 and the Spy 2. Or, just leave them both as 3. I really like them as just worth 2. While I try to bring you a variety of options that allow you the widest possible choice in outcomes that lead to the greatest variation in game play, I am not sure that I present these choices and variations in a manor that is consistent with actually offering a choice as the decision making process is always influenced by a larger input from each person's personal experience, ambitions and desire to win the contest while being fair to all players and teams, knowing that we switch sides in an effort to level an otherwise uneven and diverse set of mission that provide a background for a semi believable scenario on which to base game play in an effort to make an enjoyable as well as exciting experience for a variety of people from all over the world. "You mean I don't really have a choice." "Of course you have a choice Minister" "As long as it is your choice Humphrey?" .... .... "Yes Minister." Open to suggestions. Choice #1 Sack Humphrey.
  14. Uhmmm, Sorry but using the Harry Potter Cloak of invisibility not allowed. I know it is in the rules somewhere.
  15. Only AAA is machine guns on gothas
  16. S! All Worked on the General. Have him so that when you pick him up, he gives a sector to search like the spy. Makes the General worth 3 and adds a new target. Only worry is that the 3 AI bombers may be a program overload.
  17. Hi, I was looking for the old Discovery Channel wings series when I saw something else
  18. Sounds great. ty for posting and hosting.
  19. I would not worry about registering until March.
  20. S! All For those that like the Tournament atmosphere, Jasta 5 presents "Bloody April". This is the premier Rise of Flight event that continues to push the envelope of mission building. Can not say enough good things about it. Info is here
  21. S! All This is not the Story of Mata Hari but the tale of two missions. The Spy is a three point mission. You bring him or her home for 1 point and he tells you about a Reserve unit, 1 point. You investigate an area he tells you about to get a new bomber target, 1 point. The General Capture is only 2 points. You bring the General to your base, 1 point. You then find documents about a Trench Attack Point, 1 point. Only 2 points. Dang, for a General he is not worth much. It is possible to add another target to the mission. Just like the Spy mission, the General makes you search a sector for a new target. We have many targets as pop ups. They are either ships or the vehicle group at a low building arrangement. J30 von Hammer suggested planes at a factory. Interesting. The factory buildings have elevated walkways that you can place planes under. I am working on placing a Gotha under the walkway as well as two more. Their machine guns should be a good deterrent but a nice AAA gun would make it a little more dangerous. No need to kill the AAA gun just the three Gothas. Worried about using AI planes as targets. Might be overload. It makes the General more dangerous because you have to investigate an area just like the Spy. It gives us a target we know we can put on the map when there we are unable to have trains or ships on rivers.
  22. There was snow on the last session. Not much. Just a little. Well maybe a heavy frost.
  23. S! All Session 1 and 2 are done. Now we change sides. Blue team is Entente and Red team is Central for sessions 3 and 4. gl
  24. Now you know why I do not fly IL2 or BoS. I can NOT fit into the cockpit of a 109 !!!!!!
