93rd Aero, R.Talbot Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 Were they covering a song, in a band of some sort? I was... distracted... Quote
Vonrd Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 Sooo much more appealing than the hairy Paul Stanley. Now if the bass player had a tongue like Gene Simmons.... Quote
Vonrd Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 These guys are playing at Burger Boogaloo at Mosswood park, one block from my house. I won't be paying the $125 cover... but I'll hear them just fine I'm sure. (Iggy Pop was last year). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO1WAgM8IZI Quote
Vonrd Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 I think acoustic versions almost always have more authenticity and truth: There's just something about Alison Krauss... Quote
Vonrd Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 This is probably just an old white guy's S*#t but I like this... especially the last one - Futuristic & Devvon Terrell. Don't think I'd really call it Rap though... Quote
Britchot Posted June 27, 2018 Report Posted June 27, 2018 These guys are coming to my town so I looked them up. Kind of a Mexican version of Steve ‘n Seagulls. Vonrd and Klaiber 2 Quote
Vonrd Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 A version of this was playing in the supermarket in Muzak form... I like this version better: Sparked memories from long ago...a link in a story: Quote
Vonrd Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 Continuing the theme: It's all good now. Quote
Razwald Posted August 3, 2018 Report Posted August 3, 2018 It could go up against any Rush album. Quote
Klaiber Posted August 3, 2018 Author Report Posted August 3, 2018 Are you more of a Fragile person? Or more Close to the Edge? Me, I've been listening to a lot of King Crimson recently. I'd post some, but youtube is ruthless about copyright and KC. Quote
Razwald Posted August 3, 2018 Report Posted August 3, 2018 Are you more of a Fragile person? Or more Close to the Edge? Me, I've been listening to a lot of King Crimson recently. I'd post some, but youtube is ruthless about copyright and KC. I'm a Fragile guy. In the late 90's I had a very best of Yes which didn't have the Fish on it. Later listening to the local radio station I heard Long Distance Run Around/The Fish. I had to have them together so I picked it up. For ProgRock Rush is in a category on their own. Yes,ELP and KC in another category. With KC having members from both Yes and ELP, that similarity can't be helped. Ran across this live version on Long Distance Run Around/Fish Yesterday. It has an unusual time signature from the studio version and a different instrumental to the Fish. I'm sure you have ran into it but if not here it is. Klaiber 1 Quote
Klaiber Posted August 3, 2018 Author Report Posted August 3, 2018 That's a really nice live version! I love how they play with the song structure. I've actually never heard that version before. Yeah, KC is really a revolving door of members. I have the first seven albums, from Court to Red. I've never listened to Discipline, their 1981 album. I've heard it's good. Honestly, regarding King Crimson, I always loved Peter Sinfield's lyrics. So I find it a bit of a bummer that he left the group 1972. I feel the same way about Greg Lake. The first two KC albums are just so good with his voice on them. Back to Yes - my favorite Yes album is probably 90215. I know that's sacrilege, but it's the first album of theirs that I heard as a kid and its the one that I developed the strongest attachment to. That said, Fragile is another favorite. Razwald 1 Quote
Butzzell Posted August 3, 2018 Report Posted August 3, 2018 S! Sorry no link. There is a new tv show The Mayans. Motorcycle gang thingie. The theme song is "Paint it black" sung in Spanish. I don't know why but I love it. Klaiber and Razwald 2 Quote

I don't know why but I love it. Yeah, this is a sequel to Sons of Anarchy. Actually a pretty good show, but I got a bit tired of Charlie Hunman... Katie Sagal was Great though! Razwald 1 Quote
