Been kicking around, doing daily adulting stuff.  Haven't been able to get online in a while.  Wanted to participate in EiF but schedule didn't allow it. 
Miss the fight and the comradery.  The good ol days of GS and FiF.  Still have my sim rig and everything but if I don't get to use it again soon it may end up going up for sale.  Have a new addition to the family coming in late Feb or early March.  First one.  Been a long time coming.  Miss you guys!

I had a Chief who bought an older Jaguar.  It was built the year before Ford bought them out.  He said the same about that car.  If it wasn't leaking, it was empty.  But he was proud to have a Jaguar that was actually a Jag and not just a Ford in fancy clothes.

Things I have actually seen, or similar to, as an aviation maintainer in the Navy. 
 Fun times.  

I made a post about this in another thread about the updates, but in Jimmy Doolittle's autobiography "I Could Never be so Lucky Again" he describes ordering all bombers in the North Africa campaign under his command to use 500lb bombs instead of 1000 lb bombs because it was nearly impossible to kill AA guns without a direct hit.  I foresee more people using more conventional bomb loads from now on.
How close of a near miss?  If you put one withing a few feet, probably.  Especially a medium or light tank.  Maybe not a Tiger.  But there is a HUGE difference in the blast pressures from 5 and 25 ft from the epicenter of an explosion.  I think the fact that every Tom, Dick, and Harry was off trying to level entire fortifications with SC1000s and 1800s all the time vs the fact that most of the bombs dropped in the war from all sides were 500lb or less (outside of special targets, obviously) is indicative of the damage model of bombs being a bit overpowered. 
There is a reason why bombs are laser or GPS guided these days. 

They had a B-17 and a B-24 there as well that I got to crawl around in.  You could go up in one for a couple hundred bucks but my attention was on the P-40 and P-51 two seaters they had there.  Those were upwards of 2k to fly.  If my girlfriend hadn't just moved in I probably would have emptied my bank account to make that happen.  Instead, logic and responsibility prevailed and I'll just have to save up for next time.

Those Montemayor videos are legendary.  I love the ones on the Coral Sea and Guadalcanal.
