I was in high school (sophomore?) when it was introduced and a total aviation nerd (no hot dates for me ). Built the model as soon as it was released. I've always thought it one of the coolest designs ever. Built a flying twin engine RC model as well and also a foamie slope soaring one. I'm surprised I don't fly it more in DCS.

$3,990 That would buy a rockin PC (or a good PC plus a Quest, Pimax Light or Big Screen Beyond). Still, I have a Lotto ticket waiting to see if I won. Still, would be interesting to try. I've only experienced a full motion sim once (Beech Premier @ Flight Safety) and it's the only time that I experienced motion sickness. I've got hundreds of hours in RL aerobatics but that induced the hurls. Probably because it was "close" to reality but not really. My brain got all mixed up.

Excellent vid and I love the remix of Baba O'Riley. Date of release May 21st. Here's the initial manual: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/f4e_manual.html

Same here. A&P IA (retired). General Aviation and Part 135 turbines. That DR1 is impressive!

This is a lot of fun and really good practice for low level sharp maneuvering as well as rockets / gunnery. I have yet to make it through to Round 3 due to running out of ammo. You have to be pretty accurate and kill the targets using the minimum amount of ammo. Here's the blurb by the mission builder, Dzen: There are 8 turns on the track. The entrance to the track and the finish line are marked with gates made of TV towers. You start from the helipad, the entrance gate is right in front of you. Targets are placed on the track, they must be hit before the turns, next to which they are located. On the first round they are (Fuel) tanks, on the second round they are fire trucks, on the third round there is the big trucks. The player receives a notification when the target is hit and the turn is entered correctly (at a height below the TV tower). Without hitting the target, the turn is not counted. The countdown starts after crossing the starting gate. The passage time calculated with an accuracy of 5 seconds. In the Mission editor you can replace the player's helicopter. Recommended Combat Loadout: Ka-50: 2 or 4 UPK-23-250. Fuel: 50%. Mi-24P: 2 UB-32A. Fuel: 30%. AH-64D: 2*19 Hydra 70. Fuel: 50%. Mi-8: 2 UPK-23-250 + 2 B8. Fuel: 50%. Sa342L - cannon + rockets. Fuel: 50%. UH-1H: not recommended Maybe the UH-1H is not recommended due to ammo quantity but there's no reason that it can't do at least one lap. I haven't tried it yet and I wonder if door gunners might work. You'd have to come to a hover and swing to the side to let them shoot and you're lap time would suffer but... so what? This might be a good Bier Stein event. I'm working on making it with one each of all available helicopters. (I have to copy over all of the triggers and I plan on adding a "peanut gallery" of MiG-21s for observers). Give it a try and maybe we could try it during a practice night. Thanks HL! I just had to take a look at Sabaton... Seems like these metalheads are probably gaming geeks like most of us. Found this Red Baron one:

I used to be in JS109. Mostly the old World of Planes before it (unfortunately) morphed to War Thunder

@Etzel. My understanding is that there will be a practice mission up on the Ad Astra server this Monday. One will be European time and one North American time. @Kliegmann, can you confirm?
-
I'm pretty sure that we decided on no test run. I don't know what will be on the Ad Astra server tomorrow (which is the one we will be using for the actual event.

RIP Dickey... you're free to Ramble.

Very well researched for a fictional book. The writing is a bit stilted in a British fashion... way too many "mind you's" and the obligatory love interests but it made me do some more research about early airships, seaplanes, the Med in WW1 and also an interesting note about why the Camel behaved the way it did... something about early pilots being trained to always lead the turn with rudder and how that affects gyroscopic precession. I think it makes *some* sense but not the whole picture. https://www.amazon.com/assemble-engine-again-Larry-Jeram-Croft-ebook/dp/B0CZJWPCF2

True. But with their employees quitting (and good game programmers have lots of options and will probably just move on to something else), I wouldn't be surprised if Razbam folded. How many people actually work there? Three quitting is probably a pretty big hit.
-
Looking bad... three of Razbam's programmers just quit.

Nancy is one of the best acoustic guitarists... no, one of the best guitarists of any form and this is one of the best guitar intros ever. She's just badass...
-
Lots of love songs out there but this is one of my favorites and a beautiful acoustic version.

What a voice and still powerful.

I would have probably opted for the Crystal Light if I had known about this. The battery has been an issue (battery life) with my Crystal Sim. The only downside for the Light version is the lack of eye tracking which makes quite a difference for me for clarity in the focus area while reducing GPU load using foveated rendering. The Super looks great but quite pricey. The Light looks to be the best replacement for the G2 and doesn't have Zuckerburg in your room. Waiting to see how it compares to Big Screen Beyond. The Light starts at about 8:00

Are you using NeckSafer? In the G2 I had to be certain to open the headset with it positioned as if I were flying, i.e. looking straight ahead and then start NeckSafer once Headset was up. This was in DCS only.

AI aircraft. Helicopter with certain main rotor damage makes its crew heads bounce as if head-bangers - fixed. Damn, I wish I would have noticed that prior to them having fixed it.

Looks interesting. He's got them for sale now. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/344857-pointctrl-alternative/?do=findComment&comment=5412365
