Just saw this: 7 hours ago, BIGNEWY said: I have no date to share for the next patch at this time. Patch cycles on average will be every six weeks, it just depends on development merges and testing. That's BS! Six Weeks! I think some stink should be raised but since I'm not affected I can't justify getting on them personally. If it does turn out to somehow bork my G2... That's piss poor customer support more akin to Jason at his worst IMO.

Reading through the Hoggit it's been said that ED is aware (how could they not be?) but will not do a Hotfix and will address it at the next scheduled update. If that is actually true maybe EVERYONE should post tickets with support and flood them. Hopefully Bignewey, et.al. will post something tomorrow.

This scares me bad: Apparently this is an OpenXR feature change. All platforms needs to update it to remain compatible. "One caveat: WMR It is deprecated so WMR as endpoint will not get it (MS stopped working on it). So when ED makes the change in the next patch bye bye Reverb G2. DCS will not run on it anymore probably." However, my G2 worked fine tonight. I'm seriously considering a Pimax Crystal.

More on Hoggit. Looks like it affects all the Quests...

Oh Man... that's B.S.!!! I wish all these tech giants would make ALL updates optional. They already got our money. It seems that they are breaking stuff to move our hardware into early obsolesce and force us to buy new stuff. (Yeah, I realize that's kind of a tin foil hat statement but still... ) I hope ED steps up to the plate and gets a fix pronto. Meta certainly doesn't give a sh*t.

If you have any interest in WW1 you might consider FC also. Several of us are currently flying some events in FC.

This is one of the maddening things that DCS does. It assigns things that it "thinks" are needed. Whenever I get a new module I find bindings assigned for stuff that I never put in. I always clear out everything for all devices except the keyboard. Then I do my bindings. Very occasionally, I still find spurious assignments. Usually after an update or repair.

We have "Flying Humor". I thought I'd start a general RL Aviation post. This could have been bad. I wonder who changed that wheel last. He / she's in for some sh*t.

Maybe the Captain is into drifting as a hobby? https://packaged-media.redd.it/592viukg6ylc1/pb/m2-res_360p.mp4?m=DASHPlaylist.mpd&v=1&e=1709427600&s=8fd310219b576dbf7bca34fe682e67bcc04a4b72#t=0

Yeah, that'll hold it...

Umm... It's disturbing that this just might be all too true...

I'm assuming that we (JG1) should select REALISTIC...?
-
I think so. It's pretty big, I'm showing 165Gb with a more than 3 hr projected DL time.

I can't say that I'm totally convinced but I like the attitude of saying, "We know it's going to fail but we want to see just how it fails". It's all important data. They KNOW it's going to fail but their test vehicles are not so exorbitantly expensive that they can't absorb that failure, learn from it and progress to the next stage. EDIT: The fact that there are no human lives involved is a significant factor. It seems that there are always individuals willing to put their lives on the line to further knowledge of the currently unknown... Chuck Yeager, Scott Crossfield, two who survived and/but, unfortunately Geoffrey de Havilland, Mel Apt and numerous others who did not. Without that risk to life, more risky testing is an option. This attitude can be applied to multiple endeavors.

Yeah, this is my jam... Hoping for this in DCS or IL2.

For those used to DCS, it requires a couple more button presses... In upper right corner of control assignment window, click on "Find command" tab In the window that opens, select "By assignment" tab Then press your button or move axis and the current assignment will be shown. Quote

Doesn't seem to work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

IMO, this is the best part of the update: you search for an assigned command by pressing a button on your control device

Loved WOP! It was my first serious foray into multiplayer / joining a squad and where I got my handle. The squad was JS109 and all members were Vons with their initials as the last 2 letters... we had Vonmo, Vonki and, of course Vonrd...

Halfway through Masters of the Air. It's long but keeps my interest. I haven't read much so far that I didn't know with the exception of the common belief that Hitler was the cause of the Me-262 delay due to his insistence on it being a Schnellbomber. He did insist but nobody obeyed and he relented soon after. Difficulties in getting the engines produced and made (somewhat) reliable is what mostly killed it. Also didn't know this interesting bit that the raids on oil production (Ploesti, etc.), even though extremely costly eventually had a fair affect on POL production. However, not many raids on the synthetic fuel facilities (POL from coal, which Germany has in abundance) were done and Speer said that 2 to 3 weeks of attacks on them would have completely crippled the ability to wage war. They produced the vast majority of POL as well as the chemicals needed for explosives / munitions. It's a good accompaniment for watching the series.

Just saw Alanis on Austin City Limits. Great show and she performs like she's in her 20s but she's almost 50 with 3 kids. Worth a watch. Mikeindialimafoxtrot!
