Just like Beethoven in his latter years.

Thanks for the advice, will do just that.

Here's my little man cave. Sadly I don't have any critters roaming around the house (save for myself), so no bonus points for me. Apologies for thr cable management, or lack thereof. Need to get me some cable ties...

Oh wow, I never realised we had such serious MechWarriors in the squadron! I'm all about the Periphery (my allegiance belongs to the Taurian Concordat - yes, I know, laugh it up ), so I'm always happy to see those evil Spheroids have their butts kicked. By the way, what's the story behind the Smoke Adders? Did your MWO group challenge the Smoke Jaguar remnant to a Trial of Absorption? Also, that is a kickass logo.

That MechWarrior 2 poster is my favourite bit.

Okay Baron, I'll take the plunge. What do I need to do? Just FYI, I'm running a standalone version of the game. -
JG-1 "Fritz Schmenkel" - Operation: Red Alert 2 (27 July 2019)

The base version of the game is free, so if you'd like to give the Su-25 a try let us know. We'd be happy to give you a basic course in DCS. -

Well, if there are no other takers then I may just be able to squeeze this into my monthly budget. I should be watching my expenses, but that L-39 is really tempting... -

Thank you gents! Also a huge thank you to everyone who participated! -
The fact this is a name for a piece of legislation makes it even funnier!

Yeah, the way they scrambled makes me think they were completely unprepared, though they did have around 30 seconds to ready the parts and tyres before Hamilton came in. Was really happy to see so many smiling faces on the podium, doesn't happen often! Random fact: it appears this was the first time in over 30 years that two Honda engines came on the podium in the same race (IIIRC the last time that happened was during the first turbo era with Prost and Senna).

Hey Baron, I'm going to pass. Sorry for keeping you waiting. -
...was utter mayhem, as evidenced by this perfect edit of Lewis Hamilton's disastrous pit stop. Whoever made this deserves an award. Oh and the race was great. [yes, I know, it's not entirely related to what we do at JG1, but I figured the Racing Team guys might find this amusing]

How about Kampfhubschraubergeschwader (KHG), which was the official designation of East German combat helicopter squadrons? Those German compound names are as amusing as they are terrifying to a non-German speaker.

Agreed. Thank you for your generosity! I've been thinking about picking up an L-39. I'm going to have to sleep on it, will let you know tomorrow. -
These ones are truly special, I've never seen them online before today. "Unsere Mi", an NVA training video with an introduction to every helicopter type operated by the Armeefliegerkräfte. Sadly there are no shots of Mi-24Ps, 12 of which were operated by KHG-5 - they were taken into inventory mere months before Mauerfall. A short film on the Mi-24. Includes live fire with anti-tank guided missiles. NVA/LSK road base (Autobahn) operations, filmed not long before East Germany ceased to exist. Too cool!

Is it just me, or is this the future of helicopters?

That's the emblem of the Polish 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade! You, sir, have fine taste.

Sure thing mate, good thing you're prioritising health over everything else. If you need any more advice, feel free to ask here or just PM me. Good luck with your recovery!

@Heinrich, the Fishbed has some basic A-G capability with dumb bombs, rockets (both guided and unguided) and missiles. It's also really fun to fly in PvP, both as a fighter and a ground pounder. It's a challenging machine to fly, but the satisfaction you feel from mastering every one of its capabilities is immense. @Pfeil's suggestion is great, as an A-G pilot you should definitely give the Su-25 a try. It's a relatively simple machine, plus its systems are much easier to operate than in more advanced modules with fully clickable cockpits. It's a great way of introducing yourself to the game without the risk of getting overwhelmed. After you master all the basics, we (as in the Euro DCS team, comprising @Jonne, @Erhardt and myself) could take you for a spin in a closed training session or, if you prefer jumping straight into the deep end, on Alpenwolf's Cold War server, which happens to be my personal favourite.

I bought the Mi-8 in the hope that it might be a helpful learning tool for the upcoming Mi-24 (which is going to be a day one purchase for me). The Farmer and Albatros are next on my list, I might buy them during the Autumn sale.

Polish Su-22M4 operations in Mirosławiec, before they received their current air superiority grey paint scheme. Love the evening shots with full afterburner takeoffs.
