Klaiber Posted July 12, 2020 Report Posted July 12, 2020 That's really cool! Am surprised more people don't have ear protection, though. Quote

Firefly Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 Lovely little video of Colombian Kfir C.10s in action. Funny how you can take what is essentially a 1960s design, stick a big honkin' American stovepipe in it and then decorate it with all the electronics imaginable to create an affordable modern light fighter (who needs a Gripen anyway?). The Colombians didn't cheap out on it either - note the Python 5s, i-Derby ERs, LGBs and targeting pods. Word has it they also have AESA radars. I'll bet you the French designers never, not even in their wildest dreams, imagined that their design would soldier on for more than half a century. Erhardt and Heinrich 2 Quote

Heinrich Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 For the recon pilots: Short film about US high recon pilot. I like especially the 3:38 and 11:40 remarks. Next one is more in depth and only for hard core recon pilots. Firefly, Razwald and Klaiber 3 Quote

When you have a good design, you have a good design. I'd imagine one could say the same about the F-15 and F-16 designers, and most certainly the designers of the B-52! Firefly 1 Quote
Firefly Posted August 24, 2020 Report Posted August 24, 2020 Exactly. Recent European designs have shown that the delta wing still has plenty of life in it. Barton 1 Quote

I must've watched this series about 10 times over the past few weeks, it's a true labour of love. 40k isn't really my thing, but this ticks all the boxes. The attention to detail is spectacular, with every little bit matching the look and feel of the universe. The best thing about these is that the Astartes, as incredible as they are in 40k lore, are up against some really competent, well-organised opponents, not some random cannon fodder. Firefly Posted September 7, 2020 Report Posted September 7, 2020 One has to remember that the MiG-19 has had significant alterations to its FM since the time this video was released. Klaiber 1 Quote
Razwald Posted September 8, 2020 Report Posted September 8, 2020 The music in that Mig-19 video was amusing. I was expecting some Herb Alpert or Henry Mancini next in the line up. Klaiber and Firefly 2 Quote
Razwald Posted September 9, 2020 Report Posted September 9, 2020 I played chess off and on through the years never bothered to learn openings. Mostly due to my friends never learned them either. We didn't need to we had some very intense games without them. I haven't played in 10 years never gave it a thought. A chess streamer Twitch popped up on my Youtube recommendations next thing I know I went down a chess rabbit hole. Found a free site Lichess.org with a library of videos from Youtube. Labroisse Posted September 9, 2020 Report Posted September 9, 2020 Saw Nolan's new film Tenet this weekend. For those that don't know, it's about time travel. It made me want to time travel back to just before I lost 2 1/2 hours of my life watching Tenet. Greif, Erhardt, Klaiber and 3 others 1 5 Quote
Firefly Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 This guy seems pretty excited about Pierre Gasly winning the Italian Grand Prix. If you've ever heard some over-the-top South American commentary of a football game (that's soccer for my Yankee colleagues) then this might seem familiar. Quote
Britchot Posted September 16, 2020 Report Posted September 16, 2020 Just stumbled on this guy's content. Quite nice to see some close up coverage of aircraft I might never see. Like the VAK-191B! Note that the series is called "Inside the Cockpit" but the museum may not allow him to enter all the displays. Note the use of FC for flying visuals Firefly, Etzel and Klaiber 3 Quote
