Klai, I'll also be working on the 30th anniversary skins. Maybe wait until the 18th?

Looks good Chewie! Might I suggest that you carry the Horizontal stab stripes and maybe the yellow Rudder / Vert stab through all of your planes. That way, you are instantly recognizable by any JG1s in the vicinity that see you. The "CC" is only visible from the side. Recognition is really the primary benefit and purpose for personal skins.

I found the solution to not being able to move my cursor when the headset is on. Make sure "Manually switch using Windows logo key +y" is selected noted in red. Don't do the yellow. See attached.

I'll leave it to Butzz but he had asked how to Ungtp files and I think it does have to do with the terrain files. But looking at the fifk.zip I don't really see anything for leveling or dealing with the soggy ground. So, what's the secret Butzz?...

Anyone up for some DCS this evening?

We were going to be a service center for the Honda Jet but their support was very minimal and amateurish. Plus, the plane is just outright weird. Working on engines on top of the wings... where do you stand for access? Spilling oil and fuel all over the wing and maybe even dropping a tool? How do you get the cherry picker in place for an engine change? We declined.

Well, that certainly beats me. I have a Chinese clone of a Tokarev TT-33 (I think it's a Norinco and I have barrels and mags for both 7.62x25 as well as 9×19mm Parabellum.) Not very accurate beyond 25 ft. but it's my home defense and I wouldn't think anything beyond that range matters. It rarely fails to chamber (only when I've been lax in cleaning as Barton mentions). It was a trade for services so didn't cost me a thing really. Also have a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 ga with skeet and modified barrels.

If you delve deeper into the archives you'll find that... hair was BIG! (And so were shoulder pads).

Still waiting for my order to roll around.

Perhaps an opportunity for a JG1 open server with Klai's WWII mission?

This looks interesting...

While making the Duck skins and comparing them to the Bf110G2 I noted that Brit's skin had Klai's letters. Attached is the corrected skin. Please install in your skin folder :\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\Skins\Bf110G2 and allow overwrite. v_!_JG1_Bf110G-2_Britchot.dds

Here are the Hs-129 "Duck" skins submission. I made no screenshots. This aircraft is an acquired taste and will most likely not be flown except for a few individuals. This is one of the first submissions for Bombers / Attack planes (with the exception of the 110s which are, in essence, fighters carrying bombs). Since JG1 is a fighter squadron first and never flew any of these planes, we have decided that all other aircraft skins will be simplified as much as possible. This is the template as to what we are working on (and this is specific to the HS-129 but it's the general idea, other aircraft may have variations): Standard green camo. 1 flavor. No variations. No personal markings at all. So, no Tige, or Igantz or skeletal fish or devil or blue rudders or anything. And no colored rudders. White noses for command staff. Blank noses for everyone else. Normal squadron recognition codes on the fuselage: J1+YZ All black squadron recognition code on the underside of the wings. The roster number of the pilot (in staffel color) on the outside of the engine nacelles. Geschwadser commanders (myself and Brit) can be Blue 01 and Blue 02 Gruppe commanders could be Green 01, 02, 03, and 04. Everyone else gets their normal number and color. A low vis version of the Oesau emblem on the nose. I made skins only for those who "Might" possibly fly this plane and have more than 6 months service in JG1. There are a couple of generic squad skins. Heinrich will be doing the Europeans. Moving into the future, I have agreed to assist Klaiber in Administration, especially in FIF but this will likely extend into all of JG1 events. I expect that this will affect my skin production. Additionally, I have interest in making more DCS skins as well as doing other artistic endeavors involving Photoshop as well as 3D graphics. Just saying that skin production might be affected. I'm not abandoning it though... it's something that I really enjoy. For those newly accepted into JG1, please remind me when you have attained 6 months of active service in JG1 and I will be happy to start working on your personal skins. Anyone up for some DCS around 6 PM Pacific today (Sun 1/23/22)?

I didn't realize that Butzzell didn't have Halb skins. I also altered his DFW skin to reflect his other skins. Didn't have time for screenshots. v_!_JG1_DFWC5_Butzzell.dds v_!_JG1_HalberstadtCL2_Butzzell.dds v_!_JG1_HalberstadtCL2au_Butzzell.dds

DFWs here. I included all who requested a skin or who would likely be flying DFW in tournament. Jaus made his own and it's included. Also included generic Jasta skins. Those who are unlikely to fly it or those who typically do their own skin are excluded. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hx7h28ql4ocxy91/AAAp2EP0J51X0Z74WHu49fa6a?dl=0

In one of the more recent updates, the nav lights and the tracer brightness actually was reduced (and should have been reduced even further IMO) but they've taken another step backwards... probably because it broke something else graphically but who knows what that would be? As is typical, there's no mention of the reasoning behind it.

I was wondering what this was about... I'm hoping that they don't permanently go back to the high vis nav lights and tracers that can be seen from super long distances: Our team have prepared a big patch for the 4.702 update in a very short time after the New Year holidays. The list below shows how we value your reports and your playing experience. IL-2 Sturmovik team continues to improve and expand our projects. 4.702c changelist: P-51B-5: Installing Malcolm Hood canopy results in correct view limits; The red line with technical inscriptions is left on the left side of P-51B-5 skins only; The Royal Air Force P-51B-5 paint schemes have a gray-blue Sky Band on the tail section of the fuselage; The shape of the P-51B-5 filter hatch perforation has been corrected; Excessive brightness of U.S. identification marks has been corrected on P-51B-5; The "whistling" sound at high angles of attack has been reduced on P-51B-5 by about 30% compared to P-51D-15; P-51B, P-51D: overall detail enhancement and lettering redraw (Oyster_KAI); P-51B-5: jettisoning the (regular) canopy will look correctly from inside; P-51B-5: gaps between the instruments and the instrument panel removed; P-51B-5: jettisoning the canopy won't give a wrong technochat message about the tail wheel; A white throttle lever won't appear on P-51D-15 at certain camera angles; P-51D-15 spinning propeller image has a correct number of blades; P-47D-22 and P-47D-27 propellers look better from a "3/4" angle; Installing bubble canopy on Fw 190 D-9 results in correct view limits; An excessive visible engine exhaust on Fw 190 D-9 has been fixed; Fw 190 A-3 and A-5 engine exhaust trail is now visible from the cockpit; Bf 109 F2, F4, G2, G4, G6, and G-14 engines will correctly restart after stopping in missions where they are running from the start; Ju 87 D-3 37mm cannons are correctly visible from medium distances; Bristol F2B altimeter shows correct values; Havoc over Kuban campaign updated; Sd.Kfz. 10/5 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun paint schemes have been restored; Air pressure gauge corrected on Airco D.H.4, Bristols, S.E.5a, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Dolphin (Oyster_KAI); Nameplate details enhanced on Sopwith Camel and Dolphin (Oyster_KAI); P-38/39/40/47: engine primer and gauges detail redraw (Oyster_KAI); Some visual errors in the distant Velikie Luki map buildings have been corrected; Projectiles of simple (not detailed) ground vehicles look correctly in multiplayer (with or without tracers); The appearance of haze at medium and high altitudes when using the terrain display range less than the default 150 km has been corrected; Restored the visibility of navigational lights (now it is as it was before, but in the future, we plan to reduce it at long range); Projectile tracers are visible at long range; AA searchlight beams are visible again; The clouds pixelization at long range has been reduced for light and medium cloud cover; Fixed the recent issue with increased game exit time and automatic restart not working when changing game options; Career mode: the game won't hang at the end of a career or when switching the date to the next year; Battle of Stalingrad Career mode: minor adjustments to German AI squadrons rebasing dates; Battle of Stalingrad Career mode: minor adjustments for mission types available for both coalitions; Minor text edits.

Yeah, sameo, sameo... My only thing would be, can you make the fuselage green match the wing green?

My DFW. After looking at numerous historical photos I decided to go with a gloss finish on the doped fabric surfaces which is what they were. If nobody submits requests, I'll use the individual Halbs as a guide. v_!_JG1_DFWC5_Vonrd.dds

This is fascinating Heinrich... thank you! BTW, you're good enough at Gimp / Photoshop to use that colorized version as a baseline for a very cool printed photo as a present for your Mother perhaps?

If you buy one, I'm fully trained and certified for maintenance and have maintained 4 of them. I'll give you maintenance for flight time. Flown it a few times and it's a beautiful plane. SUCKS major amounts of fuel though.
