  1. I would prefer to not try this until they get the known bug of changing all of my volumes when it is on fixed. It's extremely annoying and almost unflyable for me. (We can maybe test it as Mox says above but please uncheck the "Enable" once we start any practice). I'm all for it once they have a fix for the issue and it does look promising.
  2. Looks like it's a known bug: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/289318-dcssystem-audio-lowering-when-voip-is-active/#comment-4851216 It's probably useless testing it until they make some changes.
  3. Agreed... testing needed.
  4. IMO, and I think Moxy shares the opinion, it's problematic at this time. When Moxy joined (both of us had checked the Voice Chat VOIP box in DCS settings) everyone's volume in TS as well as the game went way low for me. I had to turn everything up. Then when he left, my ears were blasted by the high volumes. I noticed that it affected the volumes in the Windows volume mixer as well. It's going to require testing with it activated on the server. Our supposition is that it might cause problems when we have a mix of people who have and have not activated it. For now, we should stay with our current comms sets.

  6. Here's you Zuperpfalz... you have all of the other Central planes. I'm still waiting for the DFW template to be released. @Klaiber, Included in this Dropbox zip are Dudley's, Klieg's and Snag's DVII and DVIIF. I corrected faulty Alphas on them. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kuxw0kwwvhp7qrq/Dec 28 21.zip?dl=0

  8. Posted 7 hours ago Update 4.702 Dear Friends, We're glad to report that the work on 4.702 update is finished and it is released. It doesn't contain as many changes as the previous one, but it does bring the long-awaited P-51B-5 fighter for the Battle of Normandy! It took a very long time, but there were some reasons for this - namely the long list of its modifications. It has three different gunsights(!), two canopies - standard and Malcolm Hood where the moving part of the canopy is a single spherical shaped piece of plexiglass. This aircraft is also the first to have flexible bomb loadouts depending on the country (please note that for this feature to work you should select the aircraft skin of a country you want before generating a quick mission and not after that on the hangar screen). Of course, it also uses the new DVD damage visualization system and dynamic tactical codes. Along with P-51B, we have a late Christmas gift for the owners of Flying Circus Vol.I - two new free campaigns Gallant Green featuring the British S.E.5a and Red Knights featuring the German Albatros D.V. There are also 10 new single-player missions showcasing all the birds of Vol.I. They were created by our friend Jaegermeister. A big THANK YOU to him for creating them. Enjoy! Jaegermeister has created 28 custom skins that can be used with the Campaigns. You can download them HERE. As usual, there are many other improvements and additions aimed at increasing the sim quality you can see in the list below. IL-2 Sturmovik team wishes you a Happy New Year, all the best and for your dreams to be fulfilled! 1. The P-51B-5 fighter is now available for all Early Access customers of Battle of Normandy; 2. The new free campaign "Gallant Green" (S.E.5a) was added for all Flying Circus Vol.I owners; 3. The new free campaign "Red Knights" (Albatros DVa) was added for all Flying Circus Vol.I. owners; 4. 10 single missions showcasing Flying Circus Vol.I aircraft were added; 5. Visual pixelization and shimmering of medium and low-density clouds at medium and far distances was minimized. Note: Radeon users may experience some minor artifacts or visual anomalies due to this change. We are working to fix this, but the solution may take until next update as we need to discuss with AMD. 6. Radio compasses of all German planes except Ju 52 were retouched (Oyster_KAI); 7. Seats and throttle controls of all Messerschmitts were redrawn (Oyster_KAI); 8. P-51D panel lettering improved (Oyster_KAI); 9. Detail of the sight cap on all Spitfires improved (Oyster_KAI); 10. All Fw 190 A8 paint schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney) 11. All Bf 109 G6 Late paint-schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 12. All Bf 109 G14 paint-schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 13. All Bf 109 K4 paint schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 14. All Me 262 paint schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 15. All P-47D-22 paint schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 16. All P-47D-28 paint -schemes, including the default, were redrawn (Martin =ICDP= Catney); 17. Fixed number of rounds for KV-1 tank when there are two ammo types with one prevailing type; 18. Tracers and navigation lights are not visible through clouds; 19. New effects of fires of aircraft engines and fuel tanks created; 20. Fixed misalignment of machine gun and automatic gun bursts on detailed ground vehicles; 21. Fixed an issue that caused large planes at a distance of more than 10km to be invisible in binoculars; 22. Morning/evening fog is now visible at different haze settings, not only the maximum one; 23. Low visibility z-fighting of the morning fog has been eliminated; 24. Reduced "blockiness" of cloud shadows on the surface; 25. The influence of launch tubes, transport containers and paratroopers on total aircraft mass was restored; 26. The old issue where the propeller was visible through the light halo of the cockpit light bulb is gone thanks to improved technology; 27. Fixed an issue where the formation lights toggle switches on American fighters were not animated when the engine was turned off; 28. Added parameter for VR: render_eye = 0 [-1, 0, 1] to startup.cfg. If set to -1, only the left eye camera will be shown on the monitor in VR mode, and only the right eye view if set to 1. If set to 0 it shows both eyes. 29. HUD appears faster on mission start; 30. Fixed problem with the direction of MLRS rockets in a multiplayer game; 31. Restored functionality of fixed cameras (LAlt+2) in multiplayer (both Cooperative and Dogfight modes) when starting the server from within the game with spectators allowed (difficulty option Allow Spectators).
  9. I'm entertaining requests for FC skins. You have to have at least 6 Months active service in JG1.

  12. Super cool! As someone who is a wood worker and an aircraft mechanic who has worked on wood and fabric aircraft, there is much that's absolutely familiar (except for the zuper 'staches and the Hot Hildas with the bonnets and the ankle length skirts). I can smell the dope and sawdust. The planer being used to thickness the ribs hasn't changed much at all, I'm sure that I could run it with just one try. Interesting to see that the Maltese cross was outlined first in white with the interior area very rough (6:40 min) and the black filled in with fine lines afterwards (6:55 min). Thanks!

Since the camo one is fictional, I'd prefer to keep the wingwalks. I'm afraid that, at my age, I'd slip off and break my neck... Yes, please upload to the pack.

Submitting 3 MiG-15 skins. One bare metal, one with Gloss aluminum (gray) overall paint and a late 50's camo version using the trainer UTI version as a guide. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cqicybs68bbxvqy/JG-1 MiG-15bis.zip?dl=0

Well, it's pretty bright... . Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8rag1xbcozuttap/AAAmAQ_wi3Z72NaB1XM-EdBBa?dl=0 I don't mind if we don't use it. It was a good exercise in manipulating the roughmet file.

USAF 181221-F-IO108-030.jfifHmm... I'm not yet convinced. Look here. https://www.detailandscale.com/meetup/mig-15-fagot The one at the US Air Force Museum looks like it may have some painted panels, especially as a background to the BORT numbers. This is the famous one delivered by a defector from North Korea: Shortly after landing at Kimpo AB, the young pilot learned of the $100,000 reward. To his relief, he also found out his mother had been safely evacuated from North to South Korea in 1951 and that she was alive and well. The MiG-15bis was taken to Okinawa where test pilot Capt. H.E. "Tom" Collins, first flew it. Collins and Maj. C.E. "Chuck" Yeager made subsequent test flights. The airplane was disassembled and airlifted to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in December 1953, where it was reassembled and exhaustively flight-tested. The U.S. then offered to return the MiG to its rightful owners but no country claimed the plane. It was transferred to the museum in 1957. I'm pretty sure it's "as delivered". The others look like bare aluminum to me. Your example above is, I think, from the Pima air museum and a restoration with a complete fresh paint job. Something suspect is that the stainless gun blast panels were not painted from what I've seen. It's hard to find period photos with sufficient detail to determine whether bare or painted. I'm not saying that they weren't painted either. Some pics seem to support that. Some pics seem that only parts of the plane were painted. Here's the USAF Mig. At first glance photo USAF 181221-F-IO108-030 appears to be bare metal but this is a very high res photo and when zoomed in you can see the paint being scratched in areas. The paint film seems to be extremely thin though and the rivets are very prominent with little or no paint fill. USAF 181221-F-IO108-030.jfif This one from the NASM but it's the Chinese knock off: And these from Monino which seem to support the painted. So, I think I can buy the paint but I don't think they ever looked as smooth and uniform as the one from the Pima museum. The paint film was probably very thin and not too durable.

Here's a shiny gloss gray painted one. I haven't been able to duplicate the metallic aluminum paint. Not enough resolution to mimic the tiny metallic particles in metallic silver paint. Link should be the same: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lb7xrazf53s1wiv/AAAAar2pw6UAM-__Vofq2I6ra?dl=0

Interesting... bit of a pity though. I kinda liked the polished metal look. I'll try to adjust the roughmet to have a gloss aluminum paint job for the early DDR skin.

This skin represents the early MiG-15s of the DDR. I'm rendering these early ones as nice and shiny. The ground crews were probably proud of their "new" planes that Comrade Stalin had given to them and spent many hours polishing them to a high sheen. (Love the roughmets in DCS!). Is it too much? 21. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that there is no way to adjust the gun convergence on any module in DCS. This seems like a major faux paux for a sim that prides itself in realism. Very disappointing. CLOD was (is) the best at it but even BOx has some adjustment. Is there anything in the lua's to adjust? Does anyone know what the default convergence is for each plane? I noticed this when practicing the Dora gunnery. It seems to be set pretty far... maybe 800 to 1000 meters?
  22. This is awesome. Too bad it's a homebuild and not commercial. Here's the thread on DCS: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/159229-my-new-cyclic-build-with-magnetic-brake-trim/#comment-3203979 and here https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/224232-mi-24-sim-pit-by-molevich/?tab=comments#comment-224822
