Jason_Williams Producer 24204 3908 posts Location:Las Vegas, NV USA Report post Posted 3 hours ago Guys, Ok we're releasing TC as Official this Friday the 20th. Sadly, I haven't had time to evaluate all these skins yet, but I will do so after the launch madness subsides and I can look at each one closer. Thank you to all who made these and submitted them. I promise I will look more closely soon. First priority was get the core game ready. Many of these are really cool looking. Jason Quote

WOW! That's awesome. You can tell that the makers are history buffs.

I think there's a mistake on the Brandenburg... they don't carry bombs Central Scout (fighter) aircraft: Albatros D.Va - 8 scouts Fokker D.VII - 24 scouts Fokker Dr.I - 14 scouts Central Multipurpose aircraft: DFW C.V - 3 reconnaissance aircraft and 12 bombers Brandenburg W12 - 3 bombers, 2 arty aircraft and 2 spy aircraft

This Is Not Directed At Anyone In Particular

No, I believe it's "troubles's" Alternatively... "mayhem's" -
My dad was a tank gunner and his tank was also "Shanty Irish"! I found a P51 that was also Shanty Irish but didn't have any luck with Mr. Maley. M5A1 “Shanty Irish” 12th Armored Division Rouffach, France, February 1945 1st Lt. Gilbert O’Brien, 357th FG, P-51B “Shanty Irish”

Our house (2 BD 2 bath, 1940s Craftsman with a very narrow garage and showing its age) ... $1,103,520 ... but we love the Bay area and no plans to sell at this time (though it's really tempting... my wife bought it for about $80 K in 2002).

I think that would be interesting to many of us. I'm certainly interested. How about the one with the Gothas on the Channel map?

I was looking for the FIF descriptions / maps / planesets / etc just to see what magic Buttz has done in the past. Is there an archive of the early stuff?
-
Ah... actually I was getting much more hairy until my Flowbee arrived... getting more "Silver" though.

While searching the ROF forum looking to find early FIF posts, I came across this which is where I first flew with JG1... https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/37743-open-jg1-dogfights-mondays-9pm-edt-all-welcome/

I'm a sucker for a pretty lady with a powerful voice doing a cover of a song from my youth.

Looking forward to this Cole! (since it's a scholarly effort, I thought it appropriate to address you by your given name). BTW... we used to do this in grad school... I had no idea that is was such an old tradition... Then when the victim bent his head back to receive the coin, all the conspirators poured the contents of beer and wine bottles into the funnel."

I agree that AI is probably inevitable but unless they can harden everything electrically a couple of EMP bombs will probably render most high tech inoperable. I envision a Mad Max scenario of cobbled together museum pieces or civvy planes as the only air power (magnetos are pretty simple to repair and probably relatively easy to harden against EMP... maybe a Faraday cage around them?).

Maybe it's already here? "Siri... waste that MiG" Siri... "OK... I'll baste that pig"

Interesting discussion about it on Quora: https://www.quora.com/In-1946-the-UK-government-agreed-to-sell-Rolls-Royce-Nene-jet-engines-to-the-USSR-as-long-as-they-dont-use-it-for-military-purposes-The-Soviets-quickly-started-putting-them-into-jet-fighter-aircraft-Was-the-British#:~:text='In 1946%2C the UK government,British government really that naive.” I tend to agree with the first guy: The Cold War did not really kick-off until 1947, and the Labour government in the UK were not knee-jerk anti-communists like most American politicians. Moreover relations between the US and UK were not warm. The Truman administration had abruptly terminated Lend Lease after Japan had surrendered, forcing the UK to negotiate an emergency loan from US banks. This was considered to be an economic attack on the Labour government and its policies. It was therefore considered to essential to maintain an amiable relationship with the Soviet Union. If only to stop the US from taking us for granted. Selling the Nene to the Soviets was regarded as a good will gesture without great strategic significance: the Soviets already had access to German jet technology and the British had decided to concentrate future jet development on axial flow engines rather then centrifugal compressor engines like the Nene. If the Soviets did renege on the no military use clause and reverse engineer the Nene it would give them a temporary benefit but it would also send them down a technological dead end. Still, it did allow the Soviets to field the MiG-15 sooner than they would have been able to without having the Nene to copy and it turned out to be a nasty surprise for the US. BTW: This book is a pretty good read and he makes a strong case that the supposed 10 : 1 kill ratio of the Saber over the MiG was basically BS: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z1FQHXD/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

Well, if you're not familiar with this image (and unless you're as ancient as those who are talking about this... you probably won't be) then you're not getting the meaning of "Going on air" and "Going off air". This is what you would see in the desolate wee hours of the late night / early morning... often times wondering just what the hell you were doing staring at this stupid image on your black and white cathode ray tube...

IMHO it's quite a bit better. BTW, I'm able to run MSAA at 8 without any discernible performance loss. GTX 1080 Ti, I7-7700K@4.2GHz

The issue is that you will be the only one able to see the skins (I'm pretty sure). In ROF, the Devs collected the submitted skins then hard coded them into the game as an anti-cheat measure.

I woke up to eerie orange skies and it just barely got light enough to read a newspaper outside around noon. This is the view by Lake Merrit close to my house. The word that kept popping in my mind... "Armageddon"... which in my usual twisted way of association made me think of this classic urban legend... which lifted my spirits.... "ARMAGEDDON!" tT

I haven't had the windows switching issue for quite some time but this is what I did when it happened regularly for me. I had 3 files saved as joy0, joy2 and joy3 since those were the ones that got scrambled and I just pasted the appropriate one in the folder. Back up your control files... i.e. current.map in \data\input for BOx in a separate folder and re-name it something else just to be safe... backup_current.map or something like that. In that file you should have inputs mapped to "joy0" "joy1", "joy3" etc. Like this for gear... action("gear","State","joy3_b6"); If your joysticks get scrambled, first go into game and identify what the new assignment is. For example, that action for gear is my throttle quadrant. If the game now wants to assign it to joy0, simply go into your backed up file (maybe make a copy just in case you mess it up) and use "ctrl F" to open a search window, type in the old assignment ... joy3 in this case and go through the text replacing joy3 with the new assignment ... joy0 (I copy joy0 to the clipboard and just use ctrl v to paste it in.(It actually goes relatively quick... faster than re-mapping in game). Re-name the file what it's game name is... in this case current.map and paste it over to the game folder allowing overwrite. All should be reassigned correctly.
