  1. That F9F is on my model bench right now. I went past Addison airport a month or so ago and darn if they didn't this thing in the collection. I think there is another one nearby or this is the same one repainted.
  2. I use the last feature now, to change the FOV from 30-70-90 on a hat switch. It is instant and works great. No zooming. You still have the zoom which takes you further in the range but has that same problem of too much/not enough. That is of course with Track IR. You guys know, I have been very favorable of this game for a long time in relation to the other two from the same time period. Nothing like a little competition to drive things forward. Damage model is tough, particularly against AI. They make up for in damage what they lack in flying skills. I really like the AI being used as much as possible since it puts so many more planes in the air. You never know what you are going to see buzzing along.
  3. Controls work fine.... my favorite fix... no clue. Just started working fine. OK !
  4. Found this at the really nice hobby shop down in SAT.
  5. OK.... clean install recently updated (thanks Snaggle) game works fine. Of course all the key bindings are gone, that's OK... I didn't have much done there anyway. So I am trying to get the thing to fly... and all I get is flutter in the ailerons and it rolls over and dies. Joystick (Virpil) works fine in DCS and Cliffs of Dover (see bottom comment) but can't get a clean control so far in BoS. I tried deleting all the other fields for pitch and roll (keyboard etc) thinking that might overlap but that didn't get it done. Is there something that tells BoS that I am using a Virpil stick or something else I need to delete... or maybe a calibration in BoS I have not completed? Thanks in advance. PS... It was announced about a week ago that there was going to be a VR TEST for Cliffs of Dover. There has been SCREAMING for months about the sim and it MUST have VR support which it did not, never has. WELL.... it appears that they are starting to talk about cracking it open. If you are interested in Cliffs of Dover and/or Tobruk Desert Wings.... and VR has held you back... this might be something you would care to investigate. It is NOT ready yet, but they are starting to discuss it. Team Fusion almost ready to talk about VR in IL-2 Cliffs of Dover series – Stormbirds
  6. Snaggle fixed it. I will let him explain. A big part of it was having it installed twice on different drives and I never knew it. As always, thanks so much for your time and efforts helping.
  7. Is UNinstalling and deleting the UPDATE folder enough or do I need to go find something else. I am stuck.
  8. I can try turning it off... never had to before. I let it sit.... the curious thing if I am reading it correctly is that it says it is downloading the game client which I assume is an update because the program is loaded. When I attempt to start it, it tries to update. Anyway... the numbers indicate that it is a 32 GB download... but it goes to 450+ GB and stops. I let it sit this time for about 4 hours and it just now finally came up with a FAILED TO UPDATE text on the red bar.
  9. That is how I got to this point. I deleted and installed. It completed that and went on to another download and then another one and I think that this is the 3rd one. Was there something about using the launcher? I deleted the program and it put an icon back on the desktop. I have been clicking on that to start the program and it verifies the files and then the version and starts the download. I thought maybe there was something about using the launcher to start the program making a difference but I could be thinking of something else. Once it fails to complete, if I try the desktop icon again it comes up with the same screen Downloading Game client etc but it never downloads. If I go deleted the UPDATE folder then it starts downloading but when the red bar is all the way across it hangs and never completes.
  10. I believe that I am running independent of STEAM, and I have an ATT high speed connection the fastest that they offer. (fiber optic) I have deleted and started over, and it has taken several updates and completed them but I am unsure which one I am on now. Whatever the patch was at 32.52 GB it just won't get past it. It downloads the whole thing and then just sits there and says it is completing something but never does. I go back and try again, it won't do anything. If I get in and delete the UPDATES folder, it downloads the 32.52 GB file again gets complete and will not finish.
  11. I learned of Liszt, Wagner, Straus, Verdi, Rossini etc from cartoons. I think some of those guys were still alive then.
  12. Yeah... I spoke too soon.... it loaded the game and then when I try to start it I get Downloading game client 32.13 GB and just sits there.
  13. HAH! I could not get the current update to work on IL-2... so I asked Snaggle and he said some look here... and I found where I had the same problem last time and did the uninstall and reinstall trick. SO... gave it the same treatment and it is going right now... hopefully it will complete. THERE IS HOPE for the should have been retired group. Old dog = woof woof.
  14. For me hitting the basket is easy, but maintaining speed is very very difficult, and it should not be.
  15. Has anyone an opinion on refueling using a monitor versus VR?? (in other words, tried it both ways..... I have not tried VR and wondered if it made a difference.
  16. HAH! I do this all the time. I set up for things I can't have... then when I don't find them I am not disappointed..... but then that one day I find what I thought I couldn't find (sadistic isn't it???) I feel that I have to buy it even if I don't really want it. In the old days I would have... and it would sit. I have a wonderful flight sim sitting next to me on an almost brand new computer that I have not even started up in probably 3-4 months. DON'T do that. IF you have the time, and are going to enjoy the #@$ thing... GO MAN GO... life is short... . enjoy it. IF you are going to use it... that is the key, because you know you are going to get a bang out of it. PS... I am waiting for the AH-1 Cobra. See how I do that??? It isn't on any list of being released soon... but when it comes out, I told myself I will buy it. Then it will be plugged into the flight sim sitting next to me that i have not turned on in 3-4 months. DOH !
  17. A recent release from Jerry Crandall. Anything he does I am jumping on as fast as I can.
  18. Performance was good but if you hit a bug on the radiator the engine was gone.
  19. I bet wearing roller blades you could go like #$%
  20. No disrespect intended... I don't understand "Air-Quake F/A-18 crowd" does this mean the F/a-18 hold an advantage or disadvantage in the current atmosphere ?
  21. I am getting old and giving advice.... heh heh... sorry. Just FWIW it seems to me that internet scammers are getting more common and more capable. I just tried to sell furniture on Craig's List in DFW and was instantly contacted by a scammer, they got nothing and I am assisting the people that work to bust this sort of thing. Next, I know some of you guys build models, I got pinched for about $70.00 by an outfit called INTERNETHOBBIES.com and you can google them and see all the other people that have been screwed as well. Bottomline is before you do business with a new place, regardless, take a moment and check them out online. We have been spoiled for a lot of years by doing internet business, ordering etc and dealing with honest people... and I think that is really starting to change.
  22. Thrust solves everything. (as long as you have it)
  23. Enjoyed your group when I was in Black Haze a lot of years ago. Glad to see you guys are still having fun and getting around. Congratulations on the anniversary. BH_Ludwig
  24. Yeah... I could not have pulled out the name of the show... but I go back to a different RIp.... RIPCORD.... I had the parachute man with the red/white plastic parachute and it worked... .... well reasonably well.
