  1. Hey Dutch, you're all set for the Red Team.
  2. Very interesting! And great work by the way.
  3. Looks good so far, @Yogi! II./JG 1 never flew the Bf 109 after Spring / Summer of 1942. At that point, they had switched to the Fw 190A. So there is no record of what a late war II./JG 1 Bf 109 would look like. However, III./JG 1 flew the Bf 109Gs. And, basically, what you're mimicking here is Bf 109G markings. Historical Kurfursts were really sparsely marked, often dropping unit emblems, gruppe markings and personal markings. Within this post on the IL-2 boards, you can see a III./JG 1 Bf 109G-6/AS: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/56415-main-differences-bf-109-g6-vs-late-version/page/4/?tab=comments#comment-861998 Regarding your skin, the first thing I notice as non-historical is the yellow tatzelwurm on the nose. II./JG 1 stopped using this marking on 12 November 1943. After that date, all gruppen attached to JG 1 used the black "red winged one" emblem, sometimes known as the Oesau shield. The internet is full of red versions of this emblem, but the circle was black and only the 1 was red. The second thing I notice is that the aircraft doesn't have a horizontal bar after the balkenkreuz (girder cross) on the fuselage. This horizontal bar shows that the aircraft is attached to II./JG 1 (the second gruppe). When combined with the yellow color of the tactical markings (the number and the horizontal bar), the horizontal bar shows that the aircraft is attached to 6./JG 1 (the 6th staffel). Everything else is generally correct for a late-War Bf 109G. The red Defense of the Reich band on the tail (Reichsluftverteidigung) is period appropriate (mid-1944 to 1945). Some historical Bf 109Ks dropped the fuselage band completely, in favor of colored bands directly behind the propeller boss. But that's not important to your skin. The camo is also correct for a late-War Bf 109G (RLM 74, RLM 75, RLM 76). Most historical Bf 109Ks were painted in RLM 81, RLM 83 and RLM 76, but again, that's not important to your skin. http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/luftcambg_8.htm I would remove the harkenkreuz (swastika), though. Or obscure it. And the yellow recognition coloring, under the cowling, is appropriate. But could be removed. Late-War Bf 109Gs sometimes had it, and sometimes they didn't. As the war drags on, they start removing it in-field more and more. Not sure if this helps or is super confusing!
  4. I don't believe the source code for IL-2 1946 was ever made officially public. Rather, it was hacked, and the late 2000s mods that sprung up were a result of that hack. Team Diadalos, the group that was continuing IL-2 1946's development (and currently has it on version 4.14), continued the work started by 1C: Maddox with a non-commercial license. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=28618
  5. Sweet! if you can think of any other things to add or change, just let me know. I'm always looking to improve things. Yeah, Dover is kind of a team effort. Something we can take a big formation to and attempt. Btw: I designed the B-17 mission to be repeatable. If you trigger them, you'll eventually have an option to spawn a second wave. And then a third wave. There is no fourth wave, but I could always add it. Currently fighters only spawn once. But again, I can change it. Has the Chain Home and Freya radars been working correctly?
  6. Really glad you're enjoy it!
  7. Looks like you guys had a great time! Great looking skins, btw. @Vonrd.
  8. Love the old photo effects! Was this on the new Channel Map?
  9. That's it right there. The Japanese Army and Navy pilots had been in combat since 1937, with outstanding and robust training, as well as an excellent retention of experienced pilots who could act as instructors. Agreed. Though, it's still an hour+ trip out and an hour+ trip back (if you assume your Zeke is cruising at 207 mph).
  10. Hi Plank, you've been assigned to the Red Team. You should now have access on the FIF Discord. https://discord.gg/GRErqzP Here is a link to the tournament calendar: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/3010-flanders-in-flames-calendar/ Missions are on Saturdays at 2PM EST / 7PM UTC. On mission days, we recommend that everyone arrive about 15 to 20 minutes early. The server password is passed out via Discord. Should you have any questions, just let me know.
  11. Honestly, the biggest problem (for me) with a full-on Pacific module for IL-2 is that everyone wants the Battle of Midway. But that style of carrier versus carrier operations just doesn't translate easily into a computer game, no matter how realistically that computer game tries to be. Yes, even 1CGS can get aircraft carriers to work correctly. But, that's not the issue. The issue is that no server we play on is going to put the carriers at a realistic distance from each other, because no online pilot is going to want to fly 2+ hours out and 2+ hours back for a single sortie where they may not see anything. And because of that, all in-game matchups will put the Japanese aircraft a major disadvantage. Using extreme striking range, as well as the element of surprise, was a key feature of Japanese naval aviation tactics. And the Zero was built as the physical embodiment of those tactics. For example, the A6M Zero had a 2,600 kilometers (1615 miles) range! To compare, the Wildcat had a range of about 1300 kilometers (830 miles). The Hellcat, 1519 kilometers (944 miles). The F4U Corsair, 1609 kilometers (1000 miles). That meant that the Zero could strike out far beyond the range of any other carrier borne aircraft. That's a huge advantage. Especially if you didn't know where the carrier was. You were always under a constant threat of attack. Whereas, head-to-head engagements where both sides are in close proximity and know exactly where each other is favors the faster, better armored and better armed USN and RN. Even the supposed "dogs" of the early USAAF and USN can more than hold their own against Japanese aircraft when used properly. For me, if they wanted to focus on a Pacific Module, I'd recommend something involving the land war. The AVG and the Chinese Air Force against the Japanese Army, prior to Pearl Harbor. Rabaul. The Philippines. Guam, etc. But again, while that makes more sense game-wise, no on wants that. They want Midway.
  12. Thanks Baron! They're all placed on the Blue Team, with Adler Legion.
  13. That's always been a big concern of mine as well. I guess it all depends on the year and map.
  14. There has been serious talk about a Pacific expansion to Great Battles. However, 777 and 1C have been cagey about exactly what their plans are. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/106-pacific-theater-discussion-and-assistance/
  15. Hi Fredrick, You've been assigned to the Red Team. Make sure to join the FIF Discord channel with a recognizable name. Once you're there, I'll give you access to the Red Team discussions area: https://discord.gg/GRErqzP Here is a link to the tournament calendar: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/3010-flanders-in-flames-calendar/ Missions are on Saturdays at 2PM EST / 7PM UTC. 16. Great shot!
  17. Hi AB1 Richard, To clarify, there is no Entente team. Both the Blue Team and the Red Team will flip sides after every two missions. So while you may start as Entente, you’ll finish Central. Hopefully that’s not a problem. Either way, you've been assigned to the Blue Team. Make sure to join the FIF Discord channel with a recognizable name. Once you're there, I'll give you access to the Blue Team discussions area: https://discord.gg/GRErqzP Here is a link to the tournament calendar: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/3010-flanders-in-flames-calendar/ Missions are on Saturdays at 2PM EST / 7PM UTC. EDIT: I’ve switched you to the Blue Team. They’ll start as Central, but will fly Entente next. I hope that’s okay.
  18. Very cool! I also like the changes you've made to the site as a whole. Looks great! For everyone who doesn't know where their website is, here is the link: https://us3pg.enjin.com/
  19. Hi @Heinrich, you're all set for the Red Team.
  20. I love TOS and DS9. And I like TNG. The rest gets a strong meh from me. TOS is what I grew up watching (on reruns in the 1980s). So it's by far my favorite. Even the cheesy parts.
  21. So glad to hear that you're doing better, Vogel! Are you an TOS guy or TNG?
  22. Hi Mannock, Definitely! You've been assigned to the Red Team. Make sure to join the FIF Discord channel with a recognizable name.
