  1. Started by Klaiber,

S! All, Due to the current hotfix issues with ROF Version 1.033b, the FIF Admins have decided to postpone FIF XIX Mission #3, which was scheduled to be run on Wednesday, August 27th. We're hoping to restart the tournament after a week. But this is dependent upon 777, and their ability to patch the game. To my knowledge, there are currently two major problems which are necessitating this temporary cease fire: The first is the Spin bug, which makes spin recovery impossible : http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=353&t=43880 The second is the Head Position / Snap View bug, which for people without TrackIR or Free-Track is extremely debilitati…

  2. Started by Shnoze Shmon,

Saw a post where Jason was hoping the hot fix for the last update would be out in a week. Was just wondering if the hairy bug (external views) and any other infestations was enough concern to delay the next game or not.

  3. Started by Klaiber,

S! All, Thanks so much for making the first night of FIFXIX so successful! We had a great turnout, with around 44 pilots total, and very even teams. Looking forward to next week!

S! All, As of this post, we're looking to have a dry run of FIF XIX on Wednesday, August 6th @ 8:45PM EDT. Our hope is to have a full start of the tournament on Wednesday, August 13th @ 8:45PM EDT. Just a reminder - in order to get Central or Entente access, you must officially sign up for Flanders In Flames in one of the two areas provided: Central Powers Entente Powers Not signing up means you cannot fly in the event.

S! All I was going through the JG1 server logs and found "A DDoS attack against a customer in Chicago was large enough to cause problems for Internap, which in turn caused problems for customers a short while ago, leading to about 60 seconds of detectable packet loss. The target customer IP address has been null-routed for a period of time to mitigate the attack. Update @ 11:36pm CDT: Another attack against the same customer caused the same problem after this 8-hour null-route expired. The system issued a new null-route automatically. We have also increased the default null-route length to reduce collateral damage from these repeat attacks further." A bad co…

S! All Some things not listed in the FiF description. FiF is designed for each team to have a possibility of 10 objectives in a semi realistic environment. To help with re-playibility many targets are randomly selected from a pool of 2 or 4. At the beginning of the session, the game announces what targets are active. That list repeats every 8 minutes after take off time. As secondary objectives become available, they are added to the list. While some targets are identified with Icons on the map, secondary targets are identified by a text message from Waldo or Otto. Those messages last 15 seconds and then are added to the repeating list. Some targets are hi…

  8. Started by Butzzell,

S! All RAC_Shnoze_Shmon noticed a problem with the messages for the spy objective. It was giving secondary target info but not the green completed subtitle. It was giving neither message in the repeating listing of completed objectives. This was happening on the FiF open mission on the JG1 server. It could not be reproduced on the test mission or the official versions for the tournament. We asked our HAL 9000 computer do a diagnostic. The results were that the squirrel was nuts. We quickly sent the HAL 9000 to a mission on Jupiter so we could get to the bottom of this. After repeated testing, modification and more testing, the fault was found in a counter in t…

Hi All, I've posted a invitation for freelancers to join us in FIF XIX. It's currently on the ROF boards: http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=349&t=43411 If anyone knows anyone who they think would like FIF, please feel free to invite them to sign up. Additionally, if anyone wants to head over to the ROF boards and post their thoughts about FIF, and maybe a few war stories, that would be great! Any positive word of mouth would really help us bring more people into the event. Thanks!

  11. Started by Snaggle,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in setting up FIF XVIII. Thanks to the mission builders for the “Time†it takes to build a complex mission such as FIF. Especially for including the heavies and making them air starts (2.5K would be perfect IMO). Now if the Syndicate and Wargrounds would do the same. Thanks to No.42 Squadron for hosting, the server for me was stable and presented no issues. Thanks to my fellow central pilots, even though we were outnumbered, we never gave up and continued the good fight. Special thanks to my escorts who got me to the target all but once! Finally looking forward to the next engagement! S!

I forgot how much fun these campaigns are! I am sure I speak for everyone that participated in saying that I want to thank Stubby and Butzzell and everyone else that had a hand in this, for all the excellent work they did to get FIF flying again. The map seemed to work flawlessly and the ratio of people to map size was just about perfect. How do you guys feel the team balance was? I didn't look at the outset but toward the middle it seemed as though the allies had about a 2 to 1 advantage. I would hate for this to be the case going forward. If this is the case what options do we have to balance the sides? Recruit more folks? Split JG5? Something else? -Hawg

  14. Started by Butzzell,

S! All There will be a short delay in hostilities. No mission for July 2 cnd. Hostilities should resume July 9th. During this time, people from the Geneva convention will be inspecting the damage to a Hospital, convent and orphanage that was bombed. In the wreckage were fragments with "Vickers" stamped on them. This could bode bad for the British. That the Germans were using the orphans and nuns as slave labor to produce artillery shells around the clock has no bearing on this.

Hi All, Thanks to everyone for signing up for what promises to be an extremely fun tournament event! Currently, here is our timetable. On Wednesday, 11 June 2014 @ 8:45PM EDT, we'd like to have a test mission. This test will primarily be designed to make sure everything on the maps are working correctly. However, the key secondary role of the test is to give everyone unfamiliar with FIF the chance to see how the system works. Then, on Wednesday, 18 June 2014 @ 8:45PM EDT, we'd like to officially start Flanders in Flames XVIII. This is of course assuming that the test on June 11 goes well. As of this posting, there are 5 registered squadrons particip…

Additionally, if anyone is having any problems with the forum, please let me know. This forum works best with Chrome or Firefox. Older version of IE will work fine as well. Newer versions of IE (version 11+) do not play well with IP Board. This is a known issue with IE, and is not the board's fault. To use IE version 11+, you must: Thanks!
