Hey, The "capture enemy plane" mission proposal gave me few ideas for flavour missions... perhaps to much flavour, not sure how workable they are. (Oh, and please merge the threads if you believe it shouldn't be separate discussion). Both are situational so they may be unintended ways to deny them to enemy, or abuse them. Drop the package (wreath/ message). There is lots variants of how it can work, I'm including them all so best one can be chosen. Done historically many times before 1917, this will suit best early missions. Your side has either killed an enemy pilot, or brought one down alive and captured. Now, either you've decided to drop a memorial wreath on downe…

S! All, Possible new mission. You are flying along in your own territory, when you see an unusual plane. It is an enemy ace in a prototype. You engage and are victorious. Ground troops examine the enemy and find name of the airbase he flew from. HQ assigns a 2 seater to take a pilot behind enemy lines and steal one of the new planes. How it works. Four trigger zones in friendly territory. One picked at random. When any friendly plane triggers it, an enemy AI spawns. There is a subtitle to tell the team that he has spawned and in which sector. The plane will be above the standard plane set. If we are flying N-17 vs Halb D.II, this plane will be an …

Hi All, Because of the observance of Thanksgiving within the United States, no official FIF mission will be run this weekend (Saturday, 26 November). Thanksgiving, within the United States, is a holiday filled with a lot of travelling and family time. So, the loss of our American pilots would really hurt us, and potentially skew the results of a very close and exciting tournament. The official FIF XXV missions will resume on Saturday, 3 December, with Mission #7. I have updated the FIF Team Calendar here: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/4320-fif-xxv-teams/ Should people be interested, we can always run an unofficial dogfight or test on the 26…

There was a question about whether you had to wait 5 min to refly after a disco. Per the ruleset: "If a pilot discos due to a technical issue, they should immediately check in with their team commander (CO) and ask for a rules clarification. If the CO clears the pilot, he may re-enter the server and refly, as if nothing happened. This is true even if the pilot was in enemy territory. However, while the pilot is now "okay", the aircraft he was flying is lost, and is deducted from his team's existing totals. Additionally, all pilots returning from a disco still need to take their 5 minute timeout (as if they landed normally)." Should we think about waiving the 5 m…

S! All There was a question as to whether the spy was working as he could not be found. After the mission ended and restarted, Gen Markof and myself did the mission. We found the spy. It worked for the both of us. When looking for the spy, lower is better. The area around the spy is a dome with a 3 km radius at the base. The General capture is the same. S!

S! All We have been discussing a Wen night 9:00 pm time for an FiF event. We realize that participation numbers will not be as strong as the Saturday event. To take that into account, the map is smaller. We want to let people who might not be familiar with Flanders in Flames to check it out. At this time we will have some introductory sessions. There will be no server pass word, no death penalty and we will use RoF Team Speak : ts3.riseofflight.net:7777 pass: 1917. There is a Flanders in Flames section. Please join a team there to find out what missions are available. Plane set: Entente - SE5a, SPAD7, N-28 and Breguet. Central: Alb DVa, Alb D.III, Pf…

S! All Get ready to change uniforms. For these two sessions we will be switching sides. Blue team will be Entente and Red team will be Central. Will Verdun fall? Will St. Mihiel remain a thorn in the side of the Entente line? Can either side get a fresh cup of coffee? Tune in next week for another exciting episode of Flanders in Flames.

Great job to you all. I think you outscored us, but mostly just wanted to say, you guys were tough as nails in the air. I got a taste of that in the dry run session the week before, and you really kept it up for the start of the official event. It was good to see so many of you that have been absent recently. A shout out to J5 Joseph Mai, with whom two of us had a real knock-down, drag-out fight over our side. Superb piloting, only one of us enemies came away alive, and he darned near pulled it off. You know you've had an epic fight when, as your enemy is shot down and ditching in a river, your weapon clicks empty, and you're obliged to land near the river bank with…

S! All We had some labor issues in FiF XXV session 1. The Union of Entente Riggers and Fitters was on strike in this last FiF. Entente planes that returned to base were not refitted. The German Riggers and Fitters Workers Union was on sympathy strike. Central planes that returned to base were not put back into service. The Geneva Convention was called in. They explained to both sides that without them the war would come to a halt. Both sides liked to hear how important they were but they were still on strike. After several days of negotiation the Union of Entente Riggers and Fitters would go back to work provided, No more dawn patrols ( getting up …

Hi Everyone, FIF XXV is almost here! All of the information regarding the new event has been posted on the JG1 forums. And the registrations have opened for anyone who hasn't flown before. Remember, if you have participated in the past, you are STILL registered and signed up. . . . This Saturday, October 8th will be a test / orientation mission. It will kick off at 2PM EDT / 6PM UTC. The mission will be run on the JG1 FIF server. The server password (if there is one) will be handed out via teamspeak prior to mission launch. Also, please note that Teams have not yet been finalized! We will be using this upcoming orientation mission to help us determine…

Hi All, This is an informal poll for all of those who are checking the FIF area for more information on the upcoming FIF XXV event. Assuming that FIF missions continued to be run at 2PM EDT / 6PM UTC, what weekend day would work best for people? Saturday or Sunday? Currently, there are no plans to shift the FIF missions off of Saturdays. But, there has been enough discussion regarding the possibility of Sundays that I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! And post below with any further comments or questions.

S! All, Jasta 5 is going to host a great campaign called Black September. It will be run on Saturdays in September (the 10th, 17th and 24th) at 1700-2130 GMT on the J5 server. I highly recommend people check it out! JG1 will definitely be participating. And FIF XXV will be delayed until early October to allow everyone to fly in both events! You can register for Black September here: http://www.jasta5.org/events/blacksept/blacksept.htm The rules should be posted soon! Expect more information from Jasta 5 in the coming weeks.

S! All We are working on the next version of FiF. First and foremost is balancing the teams. It is being worked on and will be set before we begin. When do we begin? Well, after "Black September". Probably the second week in October. The "BS" event s looking good. please check it out. Black September thread FiF XXV will use a progressive plane set starting in late 1916 and go to mid 1917. We will continue with the 2 week Entente , 2 week Central flip flop. This works well with the progressive plane set. The combat sector will be the front between Verdun and St. Mihiel. It took several weeks to find land that could be used for airfields in this r…

S! Everyone, The FIF Admins take the dead-is-dead rules within the Flanders In Flames tournament very seriously. And we are extremely appreciative that the FIF community has been so good at policing itself. You make our jobs much easier, and really help to create the fun environment that FIF is known for. During Session 5 of the current campaign, a Red Team pilot re-flew after death. This is a clear violation of our standing rules. http://forum.jg1.org/topic/2216-flanders-in-flames-ruleset/ The pilot in question has been banned from the upcoming Session 6 (which is to be flown on 23 July 2016). Should anyone have any questions or concern…

S! All Saturday, 16 July 2016 Session 5. Blue team is Central. Red team is Entente. The JG1 Server is running a practice version of an odd numbered map. The targets are all in appropriate places. The HQ hidden Recon targets are not in the places they will be for session 5. This mission is up and running so people can practice the special 2 seater missions. If you plan on flying a 2 seater mission, I highly recommend doing some practice missions. S! All and good luck!!

Hi All, I wanted to send out a reminder to everyone regarding the Flanders In Flames schedule: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/3905-fif-xxiv-teams/ There will be no official FIF mission this Saturday, 2 July. It's Independence Day weekend within the United States, and turn out from North American pilots will be low. The tournament will resume next week, on Saturday, 9 July! If you're interested in flying tomorrow, definitely check the servers. There still may be quite a few people around. I hope everyone has a great weekend! -Klaiber
