  1. Hey Som OK remember the res. settings for FT Do stream, res, apply, ok Remember you have to run as admin and you have to do those dlls on install? Mox
  2. ~S~ Kempf Ive been running ssd's for a while now. For our flight sims I haven't seen any dramatic increases using ssd's like fps But I'd never go back to reg hdd's for the OS or Programs of this sort Load time's. OK in reference to size. I put my OS, and my sim stuff on my 1st SSD I ran out of room so fast, Ive have 2 120's now. Smaller ssd's are inexpensive per gig, but that's all changing with time. Word of advice back up, backup, system image, and back up, somewhere other than your ssd When these fail (had one) , there is no warning, blink gone Also as a sideline, maintenance on a ssd (defraging/clean space wiping) is different than a reg. hhd Easier actually, but if windows is not set up correctly, you'll shorten its lifespan Their measured in the amount of operations. hope this helps, sorry about stepping in Mox
  3. Yea what Britt said Barton did you set up the hd in AHCI in the bios. Widows wont see it if its not in this mode. Good luck Mox
  4. Fond memories, and great times ~Salute~
  5. :D :D :D :D Moxy
  6. +3 Why I just anounced.... (Hess, IMO I dont think JG1 can build "our type" of squadron on this, the way it is.) Mox
  7. Well, holy geeez rock n roll batman Bruce, piloted their tour plane last time around. "Run to the hills, run for your life"
  8. Congrats!! Lip if your up for "lets make a deal" on the old ones let me know Mox
  9. Klai I wanted to post something that's relevent to me. (features for hook up) Any card above min. entry level will hook up extended desk top's (2 monitors) With the advent of ultra high def. requiring 2 out's. Just about everyone is good (at least on desk top) But in my case. My new card gave me an advantage, as it included HDMI. The advantage...wth my rig, (at a min. price) to get long cables, (almost anywhere) So I can get to the back of my pc, with out banging my head under my desk. Minor....but? As I just reciently found out. Monitor manufacture is changing! Mox
  10. Hey Klai I just picked this up, and am very pleased! With my res its doing quite well. A little higher than your price quote. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8796896&CatId=7387 Klai Im an ATI guy, for no particular reason. But I thought some ATI nominclature might help. The 1st 2 numbers (5870) IE(58) represent the power/featues in that series. A 57 is less than a 58, and a 59 is more (57 entry level, 58 mainstream, 59 hot rod) And the same with the 2nd 2 numbers (5870) IE (70) 50, 70, and 90 usally more/less shaders per number and bits stream. So a 5750 is the wimp compaired to 5990...so most of the time there are 9 cards in a series. Now ATI is using a new nominclature, but following the general same route. IE R7 and R9 with 250, 60, 70, 80, and 90 The kicker is that only R9 290's are new cards, anything less are hotroded 7000 series. So my R9 270 is a hotroded 7950 (79) high (50) low card If you look... 7950's with 2gb, can be had all over the place at $200, so can R9's 2gb 270's Hope this helps! Maybe? As a side note: I know you have lots of fans...Im sure (just depends on a few things) with just a few bios tweeks we could get more Ghz, and a cycle or 2 off the ram. With a new GPU you could once again be a rockin' Mox
  11. loved it
  12. I just tried to load the game missions. Problem...its only the msnbin files tucked away. So these missions are locked out. Mox
  13. I got the opportunity to take off yesterday. (Im having a gas Erhardt) I am impressed! The very 1st thing, that makes myself hope, their actually thinking about what make's a virtual pilot feel...real...is the FoV. For the 1st time in all the flight sim's Ive had, at full rear zoom, I can see the gauges! This is perifieal. I sat in the thing, set some control's, and went Wow. Its feels right! Then proceeded to ground loop my way to the run way. lol. Today...if I have time, Im going to see if I can open up, one of the missions. Curiosity...If RoF's mission builder, will work out of the box. Mox
  14. Patch page
  15. Fred, Fred, Fred,! Maybe not FiF, But dynamic something! By the way.... "idiot"? lol Mox
  16. Just reading over at the official forums You will earn mods and skins through the "Historical campaign" If I read it correctly. The new video.... the occlusion test...as far as sound goes is too occluded imo. But I saw some impressive crazing on the canopy
  17. Great! Ive been trying to get someone to shoot a horse, to check the hit box. Now are we asking for someone to shoot Klai in the head? Geeez Klai, hold still, Take it like a man. That guy will be in the dog house for a year!! Mox
  18. Did the first 4 sessions work? Kind of. it doesnt intertwine. Does the front line need to have more AAA down low? sectored bad flak area If so does it need to be really dangerous? up to its placement, parameters of a gun should be known Should static targets have more AAA so that they need to be hit by high level bombers? same as above How high is high level? In other words too high for AA to hit them. testing required Should there be some high level AAA for bombers but deadly AAA at ground level? gun placement, numbers Is the map too big? (sorry , gotta ask)pilot number determined. Doesn't have to be square, can be rectangular Was lag a problem?no Was it a good plane match up? Yes Was the weather in these 4 sessions too boring? No your selections were great I noticed. Effected behavior In the Finali Was it a surprise?yes unpleasantly (no intel) But...Now I know Was it confusing?yes... because it was too surprising (had I had intel, like waking outside, I would have preped differently) Were plans disrupted?Yes, All Was it tense? Yes in a very positive way...(overcome and adapt, TS for example) Were you on edge the whole time?Yes, ulcers Did the lack of a visible front line create too much confusion and uncertainty? No with intel and prep. Did lack of a visible front line make it feel like IL2? not in the least, different animal. Did the ground fire create any confusion? not to me.(intel) But I did here many calls from GS pilots. (in GS this is an indicator) Either in making you think it was a dogfight or in shooting at you and making you think an enemy plane was near? No (intel SA) Did moving German lines and guns create too much difficulty in locating German guns?never saw them, saw bomb drops Eye candy could create a front. Hard enough to find them with out a visible front line but then they move and have to be found again? This is ok, with parameters. Were the tanks too hard to locate? Either for defense or offense? I would say yes, no related system, intel Does the Finali battle design need to be changed? evolved Is it easier to Kill tanks than to defend tanks? unknown by myself Should both sides have tanks and whoever has most at the end wins? This creates symetrical missions. Both sides have the same mission and goal.No Comments for additions, changes, things that did not work or other questions: Most of my comments above relate to how little, random things change the thought process related to the environment. IE weather. But the environment is known. (after all we've been at the front for weeks)Example: Flak, High flak, low flak and it parameters. We would know this, and how to deal with this.... Forcing pilot behavior, by randomizing object parameter intel should not be done. Its placement in the environment and its relation to the environment is the deciding factor. For instance, Road traffic,(tanks, trucks, whatever) its start and ending parameters should be known and intel along the route. So a pilot can try to asses its intent. In the case of the tanks (never saw any, wasn't there) The route was undecernable, because there is no purpose. Not its travel behavior (ziz zaging) although this should be know (it will "shackle" 2km off its intended line of travel)But that it has a visual destination purpose. Hypothetical: the rule: Since tanks are offensive, its route will always terminate at a destination of capture. This includes towns and or objects related to mission objectives (balloons, depots, etc.) With this, an assessment can be made, by both sides, of what the AI tank commander is thinking. "Their heading towards slacktown" "now there heading West whats west..the airfield" Also intel: If ground fire, starts shooting on its route, then we know something is up! Because of RL, and parameters. All the MB mechanics created, are excellent!!! But IMO we need the thread that ties it all together into what I call the environment, Then "we" make the choice's in the air relating to the ground, for good or bad. The random flak and explosions has to go relating to the above, that would be my step 1 to tie this together. Now all visuals have meaning, from there, everything else just simply follows. Sidenote: For this. If we dont use the transferable mod file, its off the mud. Great writing Fred!!!! and concept. Mox
  19. Yea Barton! Are you still using your SSD's? Mother board set to "AHCI" in the bios? Does your Bios see it? You might need to format the drive. (use quick) Hope this helps Mox
  20. Drivers?
  21. c4nuck The rod Im using it the pic, is a hardware store threaded rod. I started with a coat hanger, and just rubber banded to hold on the bar and stick. (as a test) Worked absolutely fine no slippage etc. If you'll notice on the back side of the rod I have a turn buckle (the reason I used a threaded rod) this allow me to shorten or lengthen the rod....manual calibration or trim. You'll notice also the rod is connected off center (right of the tee fitting) Being off center gives you the push and/or pull to the joystick. Now the rod being solid, you'll need to have the rod connections pivot a little Why the rubber bands worked, a little flexibility. I have pivot points at both ends (rod) to allow this flexibility but with no slop (deadzone) OK, since We've got your head spinning on how to make stuff. These 15 dollar joysticks are great, to completely rip apart, and just use the electronics inside! Button boxes, trim wheels, etc.. So you dont have to move the whole joystick, just the guts inside Mox Oh ps. You cant see it in the pic, But there a 2 springs (not really necessary, but gives centering and some tension...feel) connected on the right/left of the tee fitting. Then connected to an eye screw on my base. The springs are attached to the tee bar, with cable ties.
  22. c4Nuck Here is a pic of my 1st first version homemades (have brakes now) Also I have a set in waiting using cabinet slides Ironically I like my T-bar...Its so strong, and make a handy foot rest. Maybe spark some ideas for you. Joystick $15.00 at tiger Plumbing parts ~ $12.00 Good luck Mox pic[/img]
