Congrats to all... and thanks very much for the Knight's Cross! Can we award Mein also? It would have been a posthumous award if not for him. -

Congrats all! Seems like a lifetime... and the blink of an eye. Proud to be a member of JG1! -
Got any recommendations with a budget of $700 or less.

Motherboard is an ASUS P6X58D-E, 4 or 5 years old. So, I'm probably looking at a new board and chipset along with more RAM. I looked at Kabylake but I think it only supports Win10 and I prefer to stay with 7, 64 bit. I would like to stay with ASUS board but the selection is baffling.

6114 was copy / paste from DxDiag. Actually it is 6 gig. Looking at memory now. Know any good places?

If I was to throw a few hundred bucks at this machine what would be the best bet... more RAM or CPU? or something else? Intel i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM GeForce GTX 970 500 Gig SSD (about 80% in use)

Thanks Klai! And congrats and thanks to the other awardees. I really hope that we can continue to build on this momentum. Perhaps a WWII tournament in the future? I still have hopes for GS but it seems to be on hiatus at present. Sure... BOX has warts in multiples but, as I've said before, I think it has maybe the best potential for tournament. (Probably more FIF than GS maybe). As Barton has illustrated (and I definitely confirm) the stall / post stall behavior is wonky. But ROF is even worse I think (pump the stick, shut the engine off... etc, etc to recover) and FIF on saturdays is, at least well populated and popular. We've learned how to live with the foibles and still have a great time. I encourage those who are still resistant to BOX to give it a try with us who are practicing. It may be more palatable when flying with your squadmates. Hold your nose maybe

300 km range? Must be some awesome battery pack! Very cool.
-
Sure wish I could participate but I'm at work during that time.

Well I guess they have to recoup the monies somehow (apparently by selling rides) but that second canopy really ruins the lines of one of the most beautiful air-frames ever designed.
-
For shallow angle dive ("glide") bombing I will often fire bursts from the guns as an indicator on the way in (though not often in FIF as it draws too much attention). The bombs will generally hit where your rounds do if you don't drop too high. Also, try not to use the rudder to align - it will only throw the bomb wide.
-
I'll try for Tues but might be late.
-
So... I'm up for some DCS WWII. When would be a good time for all?
-
Actually, all of the released planes can carry bombs but I agree... bombers needed to make DCS viable for tournament IMHO.

We really need to decide where we're going as a squadron regarding WWII sims. All perceptions welcome.

Please see my post about WWII practice. We really need to decide where our path is regarding WWII sims.

EDIT: Disregard... see Edit line below. Looking through the rules I came across apparently contradictory items about death penalties: Page 11 under "Server settings" Other Settings/Timeouts – • One (1) minute End of Flight • Five (5) minute Re-Flight • Two hour (2) Coalition Change • Fifteen (15) minute pilot Death Penalty with unlimited back-seat lives. If you die or are captured when flying as a pilot, the server will force you to wait 15 (15) minutes before you can fly again as a pilot. However, there are an unlimited number of backseat gunner lives available to participants. Participants may ride in the back- seat during a pilot death penalty. But then on Page 30: Ditched (Captured) No-Man's Land/Enemy SidePlane: Lost Must wait for five (5) minute Re-flight Penalty to expire to see if pilot escapes or prisoner exchange occurs. If server allows pilot to re-enter server this is what has happened and pilot may re-fly according to Re-flight Priority. Pilot KilledPlane: Lost 2 hour death penalty before pilot may fly. Pilot may act as a gunner at during this time. EDIT: I guess Genius spotted the same thing... Here's Baumer's response: Thanks Genius. Guess we needed a third set of eyes on this. We are changing to a 15 minute death penalty and red/blue teams. Thanks for catching these spots we missed the updates to. I'll make the changes and update soon.
