That is on the list of movies that I own and will get sucked into watching on TV. Even with commercials I will still watch it. Same with "Goodfellas," I will get sucked into the edited watered down version on TV. A movie that is on my list of movies that I have seen many times. I will watch it when it comes on, even though I own it and it may not be on most peoples list is "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" with Gary Oldman. I get caught up in it every time. Between the monologues and the use of spot lighting it feels more like a stage play than a movie at times. Quote

Anyone else remember that? Or is it just me? This is back in the day when the opening credits were almost 1/4 of the show. Of course I remember it, Riptide came on right after Magnum, P.I. Razwald Posted July 19, 2021 Report Posted July 19, 2021 @Snaggle I found this interesting others may not. If you haven't seen it yet it is the ship logs of the USS Seawolf looking for the USS Thresher. Snaggle 1 Quote
Pfeil Posted July 22, 2021 Report Posted July 22, 2021 Interview with Lt. Col. Josef Miler Former fighter pilot in Czechoslovak and then Czech Airforce. Serving on L 29, L39, Mig 21, Mig 23. Video is in Czech language but with English subtitles edit: subtitles are WIP and now only for the first 50 minutes. Lipfert, Yogi, Britchot and 1 other 4 Quote
Pfeil Posted July 22, 2021 Report Posted July 22, 2021 There are lots of interesting technical questions and explanation of procedures regarding Mig 21 and 23 and the inner working of a squadron. He was part of the Aerobatic display team so he got chance visit air shows in the west with Mig 23 and some unusual flying experience for a Cold War pilot like flying the Mirage F1B in example. Later are there questions and explanations of workings of Engine, Radionavigation , Autopilot, Weapon system. The info is just pouring out of that guy. I guess after so much hours flying that stuff is just hardcoded in his memory. The subtitles for the entire video should be done by end of July. Lipfert 1 Quote

Razwald Posted July 25, 2021 Report Posted July 25, 2021 This is a good watch for someone not familiar with the overall doctrine of the Russian air force. Klaiber and Britchot 2 Quote

ACG_Bussard Posted October 26, 2021 Report Posted October 26, 2021 News from Hangar 10 at Usedom, Germany: Small airshow with 2 Bf 109 (re-engineered Buchon´s), 1 FW 190 (Flugwerk replica) and 1 Spitfire Erhardt, Etzel, Britchot and 2 others 5 Quote
Ludwig Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 wish the devs would take note of this video as to how easy the aircraft handle on the ground. It is just NOT that difficult. YES you need to pay attention, and have some pedal time... but once you have that it is not nearly what you experience in the sims. I have NO idea why they make it that way. Could be too hard to correct? Could be they want to make it difficult to make it more accurate (??) I have no clue, but it has been not even close in any flight sim I am familiar with in the last 25 years. Etzel, ACG_Bussard and Britchot 3 Quote
Ludwig Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 Watching as I am typing... lets see who noticed... what was the difference between the 109 #1 and #2 take off... did anyone else notice? 5:12 (large amount of whiskey involved here... it could be just me but these things bug me.) Also can tell you if I had pulled a stunt in the 190 with the gear up 5' off the runway... the owners would have thanked me and said don't ever come back..... period. You just don't do that stuff. I have watched how many WW II vintage airplanes turned into scrap metal since 1981 doing that stuff. Yeah, I did stupid stuff too but I am old and out of the game now so I get to bitch. Quote
Ludwig Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 PS... I know.. I know... watch the roll rate on the 109.... it is WAY faster than what you get in BoS. Shame on them... debilitating a fine machine. Quote

Yeah, you are right. It´s more likely that some parts of the clip - esp. the start, taxiing and take off from the G6 variant - were cut in from another fly out. Anyway, a nice watch with many details as you noticed too. Quote

This Fw 190 replica with JG1 Markings is also located at Hangar 10 in Usedom/Germany (near the baltic sea). The video what you posted is nice, but didn´t contains any new material. Don´t know why "warbirds" comes up with that stuff and present it as "first public flights". Anyway here is more material from the FW 190 for your viewing pleasure Erhardt and Klaiber 2 Quote

It's probably for the "sizzle." Not sure if that completely translates, but basically the sensational publicity. Quote
